Thomas W. Linton Sr.
CAMBRIDGE - Thomas W. Linton Sr., 67, passed away at the Memorial Hospital at Easton on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000.
He was born in Wilmington, Del., on Jan. 27, 1933, the son of the late Warren T. and Helena Kowalski Linton.
Mr. Linton had attended schools in Wilmington and also in Cambridge. He had served in the U.S. Air Force from April 24, 1950 until Sept. 11, 1950.
On Dec. 2, 1954 he and the former Virginia Slacum were married.
Mr. Linton had worked at Dresser Wayne in Salisbury for 20 years, and also at Airpax in Cambridge for 23 years until he retired in 1995.
He was a life member of Dorchester Post 91, American Legion and was a Past Exalted Ruler of Cambridge Lodge No. 1272 BPOE where he was currently Esquire.
Besides his wife, Mr. Linton is survived by one son, Thomas W. Linton Jr. of Newborn, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Alice Ann Todd of Cambridge; one stepson, George C. Bennett Jr. of Rollo, Mo.; three grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where members of Cambridge Lodge No. 1272 BPOE will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m.
Lois H. Windsor
BERLIN - Lois Harriet Windsor, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000 at the Atlantic General Hospital.
She was born in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Davis Koch.
Mrs. Windsor was a graduate of Salisbury State College and had taught school for many years at North Dorchester Middle School for the Dorchester County Board of Education.
She is survived by her two children, Bradley S. Lohmeyer of Berlin and a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Tyler, also of Berlin; and two grandchildren, Morgan Tyler and Jennifer Tyler, both of Berlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Windsor.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
William A. Christopher
CAMBRIDGE - William Aubrey Christopher, 66, passed away at his home early Friday morning Dec. 1, 2000, following a prolonged illness.
Born in Cambridge Oct. 12, 1934, he was the son of the late Aubrey William and Magdeline Travers Christopher. He attended public schools in Dorchester County. For most of his life, he worked as a salesman, first for the Herbert Hearn Hardware Co. in Cambridge and then for several automobile dealerships in Cambridge, Easton and most recently, Salisbury. Throughout his long career, he earned many sales awards.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lois Hurley, whom he married in 1953; three daughters, Deborah Weber and Christine Pridgen of Cambridge and Dinah Christopher of Bowie; two sons, William Christopher of Sterling, Va., and Michael Christopher of Pasadena, Md.; five grandchildren, Robert Burton, Jason Weber, Jeremy Weber, Alison Pridgen and Lauren Pridgen; one sister, Virginia Eskridge of Cambridge; one brother, Robert Christopher of Hurlock; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a sister, Audrey Furbush, and a brother, Richard Christopher.
A graveside service is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. in Dorchester Memorial Park. Chaplain Kathleen Walker will officiate. There will be no viewing.
Pallbearers will include Jesse Eskridge, Payton Hurley, Paul Weber, Edward Pridgen, Robert Burton and Jeremy Weber.

Ida M. Coppage
PRESTON - Ida Mae Coppage, 82, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at her home.
Born in Templeville May 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Racha Clendaniel Glanden. She worked for Phillips Packing House in the can production department and then for Acme Foods in Hurlock. She later worked for Continental Can in Hurlock, retiring in 1980 after 30 years of employment.
She is survived by one daughter, Alice A. Collins of Preston; four sons, Allen E. Coppage of Hurlock, Raymond C. Coppage of Federalsburg, Samuel Coppage of Preston and William Russell Dukes of Preston; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Eugene Coppage of Massey, Md., and Lee John Glanden of Denton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Samuel Dukes, and four brothers, John Coppage, Howard Coppage, James Coppage and Freddie Coppage.
Graveside services are scheduled for Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The Rev. Buddy Dunn and the Rev. Glenn A. Staehli Sr. will officiate.
Pallbearers will include Jeffery Coppage, John Coppage, Danny Pollard, Michael Glanden, Eric Glanden, Jay Burrows and Mark Burrows.
Memorial contributions may be made to Caroline County Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.

Arthur O. South
CAMBRIDGE - Arthur O. South, 77, of Bar Neck Road in the Neck District, died Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2000, at Mallard Bay Center.
Born June 16, 1922 in Lawrenceville, Ill., he was the son of the late Arthur South and Gilberte Torossian.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served from Feb. 13, 1945, to Oct. 15, 1946, in Calcutta, India, in the Asian Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged with the rank of mess sergeant and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a farmer for more than 50 years at his residence on Bar Neck Road. He was a member of American Legion Post 91 and the Dorchester County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are four sisters, Simone South Morrow of New York, Agnes Torossian of Frederick, Mary Torossian Sheehan of Havre de Grace and Elizabeth Torossian Tyeryar-Nagle of Frederick; one brother, Bayard Torossian of New York; 15 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were his stepfather, Lou Torossian, and a brother, Robert South.
The family will receive friends Dec. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the funeral home. The Rev. Delmer Willey will officiate. Burial will follow at Spedden-Seward Cemetery, Hills Point, Cambridge.
Pallbearers will include Mr. South's nephews.
Vernon O. Wright
FEDERALSBURG - Vernon Otto Wright, 106, died at Caroline County Nursing Home in Denton Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000.
Born near Preston on Nov. 5, 1894, the son of the late Charles Jefferson Wright and Annie Harding Wright, he lived in three different centuries. He was a farmer all of his life, growing truck crops, as well as operating a dairy farm. He was a member of the First Church of God in Federalsburg, where he was the teacher of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Louise Adams and Hazel Robinson, both of Federalsburg; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Lois Annie Shufelt, who died May 11, 1985, and a sister, Martha Robinson, formerly of New Castle, Del., who died in fall 2000.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A., in Federalsburg. The Rev. Peter Smith and the Rev. Arthur Bebee will officiate. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery.
Friends may be received at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
