JOHN C. KREADY
CUMBERLAND - John C. Kready, 66, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 16, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John H. and Frances May (Short) Kready. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Burton.
Mr. Kready was retired from the Suburban Propane Company, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the District 16 Fire Department, Cumberland, and a member of the Cumberland Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lee (Monnett) Kready; one sister, Thelma Myers and husband Charles, East Petersburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The District 16 Fire Department will conduct a memorial service on Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Max Greenfield officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests contributions be made to District 16 Fire Department or Christ United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be members of the District 16 Fire Department, Lawrence Wolford, Ronnie Grabenstein, Floyd Stafford, Homer Snider, Bruce Shaffer and John McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hook, John Hook, Brian Keefer, Mark Monnett, Tom Bishop and Donnie Crites.
MERLE K. HOOVER
EMMAUS, Pa. - Merle Kenneth Hoover, 65, of 605 Spruce St., Emmaus, formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born July 21, 1935, in Jennings, Md., he was a son of the late Harry Cecil Hoover and Olive Dorothea (Yommer) Hoover. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hoover.
Mr. Hoover was a retired resident maintenance engineer for the Maryland State Highway Administration. He was a Lutheran by faith, and a member of the Izaak Walton Association, Moose, NRA, MCEA and AARP. He also attended Johns Hopkins University.
He is survived by four daughters, Kimberly H. Sone, Boonsboro, Md., Beverly A. Cardinale, St. Thomas, Pa., Dawn R. Hoover-Miller, Hagerstown, and Amy L. Harold, Inman, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kristi Ane Sone, Whitney Hoover Sone, Madeline Cardinale and Tony Harold; a sister-in-law; one niece; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md., on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Jones officiating.
Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the John R. Marsh Center.
CHARLES W. HARTMAN
CUMBERLAND - Charles William Hartman, 57, of the YMCA, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at WMHS Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on Sept. 24, 1943, in Durbin, W.Va., he was a son of the late William R. and Willa Ruth (Watts) Hartman.
Surviving are a son, Dustin, Mount Savage; three brothers, Thomas, Ellerslie, John, Chesapeake, Va., and Steven, Keyser, W.Va.; and a sister, Jo Ellen Troutman, Wellersburg, Pa.
Mr. Hartman was a U.S. Navy veteran who served three tours of duty in Vietnam between 1961 and 1972 as a radioman and a cryptoanalyst. He was a self-employed computer transcriptionist who assisted in the transcription of the Iran Contra hearings records. During high school, he had pitched for the Mount Savage baseball team and was scouted by a the major league.
Services for Mr. Hartman will be conducted at the discretion and convenience of his family.
Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
TOBY D. FRAZEE
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Toby David Frazee, infant son of David L. and Jeannie E. (Friend) Frazee, Oakland Drive, Mountain Lake Park, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Amanda L. Frazee, at home; and maternal grandparents, Howard Friend, Swanton, and Eileen (Gnegy) Friend, Mountain Lake Park.
Services will be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mountain Lake Park, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman and the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Children's Miracle Network, West Virginia University Children's Hospital, Morgantown, WV 26505.

MARTHA G. CORLEY
CUMBERLAND - Martha Gail Corley, 74, of 235 Paca St., Queen City Towers, Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Oct. 3, 1926, in Elkins, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Darius Boyles and Frankie Cleveland (Lewis) Boyles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Denver Jay Corley Jr. in 1992.
Mrs. Corley was a retired clerk at Hills Department Store. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir.
Surviving are three sons, Denver G. Corley, Kingwood, W.Va., Eric L. Corley and wife Jan, Amarillo, Texas, and James A. Corley and wife Cathy, Cumberland; two daughters, Janet S. Bender, Cumberland, and Marsha A. Twigg and husband Bill, Carpendale, W.Va.; two sisters, Della Mae Poling, Salem, W.Va., and Mildred Boyles, Elkins, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Cumberland, on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Max Greenfield officiating.

MARY V. CONNELLY
COLUMBIA - Mary Virginia "Ginger" Connelly, 61, of Columbia, formerly of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at her daughter's residence.
Born Sept. 11, 1939, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Clifton E. Shirey, Potomac Park, and Mary Walker Keiling, Welsh Hill, Frostburg.
Mrs. Connelly was an accountant at the Fidelity Deposit and Insurance Corp., Baltimore. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Clarksville, and the Waynesboro Church, Waynesboro, Pa.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Connelly is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard F. Connelly, Columbia; one daughter, Carol Church and husband Boyd, Boonsboro; one son, Richard C. Connelly and wife Kimberly, Buckhannon, W.Va., and Sykesville; five granddaughters, Sienna and Arianna Church, Savannah, Breannah and Shyannah Connelly; one sister, Sylvia Favila, Glen Burnie; one brother, Clifton Bruce Shirey and wife Mary, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody as celebrant.
Following the funeral mass, her body will be cremated.
