IONA V. HELMICK
ST. GEORGE, W.Va. -- Iona Virginia Helmick, 69, of St. George, and more recently a patient at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, Md., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Garrett Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
She was born Oct. 3, 1931, at St. George, a daughter of the late Walter Lee Henthorne and Margaret Marie Lipscomb Henthorne. Her husband, Lester Helmick, preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1968.
Suviving are two daughters, Marilyn Clute and husband Paul, Hambleton, and Carolyn E. Shreve, St. George; three brothers, Lonzo Henthorne and wife Mary Jane, Elkins, Deyon Coleman Henthorne and wife Joan, Ripley, and Dennis I. Henthorne and wife Janie, St. George; one sister, Mrs. Hugh (Leah) Speir, Frostburg, Md.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one son, Gary M. Helmick; two brothers, Rodney and Spencer Henthorne; and one grandson, Jeffrey Mitchell.
Friends will be received at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home, 312 Main St., Parsons, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Final Rites will be conducted at the Funeral Home Parlor on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Pastor Phillip Richards will officiate and interment will follow at the Fairview cemetery on Location Mountain at St. George.
JAMES S. NELSON
KITZMILLER -- James Solomon Nelson, 83, of Kitzmiller, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 30, 1917, in Barnum, W.Va., he was a son of the late Otis O. and Virgie May (Tasker) Nelson.
Jim was a retired coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Olive A. (Boyce) Nelson; three sons, James W. and wife Minnie Nelson, Daniel E. and wife Deloris Nelson, all of Deer Park, and Robert L. and wife Betty Nelson of Kitzmiller; one daughter, Yvonne Whitacre and husband Clarence of Deer Park; one brother, Dempsey O. Nelson and wife Zelma of Kitzmiller; three sisters, Loretta Stark, Keyser, W.Va., Helen Sweitzer, Rawlings, Md., and Lavona Felda of Cresaptown, Md.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Nelson is at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home in Kitzmiller where friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Mount Zion, Md.
ISABELL V. CLARK
LAVALE -- Isabell Veronica Clark, 91, of LaVale, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at the Egle Nursing Home.
She was a native of Lonaconing, born to Clarence E. and Sarah (Thompson) Crowe on Jan. 4, 1910.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Clark; one son, Raymond Burton; five brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Storey, Lonaconing; a daughter-in-law, Delores Burton; one grandson, Joseph Burton and wife Tammy, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Sandra Witt; four great-grandchildren; and one niece, Juanita Fuente, Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Monsignor Thomas Bevan officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
VAN R. PRITTS
NEW CREEK, W.Va. -- Van R. Pritts, 77, of HC 72, Box 173, New Creek, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at the residence of his daughter in Rawlings, Md.
Born on Oct. 5, 1923, at Berlin, Pa., he was a son of the late Earl E. and Viola (Brant) Pritts. Mr. Pritts also was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Dawn Pritts, on Feb. 6, 1996; and by a sister, Eva Myers.
Mr. Pritts, along with his four brothers, owned and operated the family business, Potomac Lumber Company. After the death of his father, he served as president of the company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He also formerly served on the board of directors of the former National Bank of Keyser.
Surviving are one daughter, Diane Sulkowski, Rawlings, Md.; four brothers, Harry Pritts, New Creek, W.Va., Kenneth Pritts, Keyser, W.Va., Peter Pritts, New Creek, W.Va., and Donald Pritts, Elk Garden, W.Va.; and two sisters, Hazel Farris, Elk Garden, W.Va., and Vella Imhoff, Oakland, Md.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Keyser, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Herman L. Baliles officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
STANLEY E. EISEL
FROSTBURG -- Stanley William "Bizz" Eisel, 79, of 170 Frost Ave., Frostburg, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 11, 1921, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late William Stanley and Nellie (Brode) Eisel. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Teresa (Patterson) Eisel, on Feb. 3, 2000; and one daughter, LeDene Eisel.
Mr. Eisel was retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory where he worked in security. He also was owner and operator of Rocky Hill Riding Stables and Farm, Frostburg, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Eisel was a member and longtime deacon at the First English Baptist Church, Frostburg, and a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion.
He is survived by one son, Stanley "Butch" Eisel and wife Gloria, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Sarah Eisel, Frostburg; three sisters, Sarah Snelson, Wilda Delaney and June Price, all of Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews including one special nephew, Enoch "Junie" Price.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Sandvick officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside. Family and friends will be invited to the First English Baptist Church for a post-funeral luncheon.
Pallbearers will be Bert Thiel, Junie Price, Bill Price, Evan Bone, Jeff Twigg and Paul Brode.

CHARLES E. EVERETT SR.
SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. -- Charles Edward "Chuck" Everett Sr., 64, of Gaithersburg, formerly of Springfield, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, in Gaithersburg.
Born Sept. 3, 1936, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Harley T. and Floe (Hartman) Everett.
Mr. Everett was a veteran of the United States Army and was a long-time employee of O.W. Anderson Inc., Gaithersburg. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn; his children, M. Charlene Everett, Charles E. Everett Jr. and Michael T. Everett, all of Gilmore; a brother, Robert "Skeets" Everett and wife, Barbara, Springfield; two sisters, Willa Livengood, Springfield, and Barbara S. "Susie" Turpin, Romney, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Joseph and Tia Fox, Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.
The body will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
