LEON G. RUSH
FROSTBURG -- Leon G. Rush, 62, of Lower Consol Road NW, Frostburg, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 15, 1938, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Randolph and Mabel (McKenzie) Rush. Mr. Rush also was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Rush.
Mr. Rush was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Winner Brothers' Coal Company. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Frostburg Eagles Aerie 1273 and the Farrady Post 24 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Skidmore) Rush; one son, William Leon "Bud" Rush Sr. and friend Linda Clark, Eckhart; two daughters, Cynthia J. Dolly and husband Wayne, and Sandra L. Dicken and husband Leonard, all of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Melinda Garrett, Daniel Rush, Robin Dicken, William Rush Jr. and Cassandra Dicken; two brothers, Anthony Rush and wife Gail, Churchtown, and Curtis Rush and wife Ramona, Clearwater, Fla.; three sisters, Carlene McKenzie, Zilhman, Shirley Brant and husband William, Beall School Road, and Linda Pifer and husband Elmer, Vale Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wish, his body will be cremated.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at the funeral home.
ROSCOE H. SWIGER
OAKLAND -- Roscoe H. "Rocky" Swiger, 78, of Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home in Oakland.
He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Erwin, W.Va., and was a son of the late Anthony W. Swiger and Edith (Howard) Swiger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Rocky C. Swiger.
Mr. Swiger was a retired farmer and employee of the Oakland Agway. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, the Garrett County Farm Bureau, and the FFA. He served on the Garrett County Election Board for 26 years and was a member of the Maryland Association of Election Officers. He was a 50-year member and past Grand Chancellor and Trustee of Garrett Lodge #113 Knights of Pythias. He also was past Grand Master at Arms. Mr. Swiger was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Proctor Kildow Post #71 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Allison) Swiger; two sons, Jerry W. Swiger, Mountain Lake Park, and Thomas L. Swiger, Oakland; one daughter, Kathy S. Swiger, Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Garrett Lodge #113 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Pleasant View Baptist Church on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wally Weeks officiating.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Members of local veterans' organizations will accord military honors at graveside.
Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center in Morgantown, W.Va.

CUMBERLAND -- Lona Livengood, 78, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Services will be conducted at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Crock, Philip Barbe, Raymond Gephart and Dustin Grosso.
L. CONSTANCE KNIPPENBERG
CUMBERLAND -- L. Constance "Connie" Knippenberg, 62, of 536 Columbia Ave., Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1938, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of Charlotte (Morriarty) Ault, Cumberland, and the late James H. Ault.
Mrs. Knippenberg was a retired seamstress for the Maryland Workshop for the Blind and former employee of Memorial Hospital Dietary Unit. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Connie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose commitment was first to her family and her God. The kindness and love to all who knew her was a bright ray of sunshine.
She is survived by her husband, G. Richard "Dick" Knippenberg, Cumberland; two daughters, Ranae L. Weaver and husband Jason, Cumberland, and Laura L. Estep and husband Raymond, Cumberland; a brother, James H. Ault, Cumberland; four sisters, Kathryn Williams and husband William, Frostburg, Elizabeth Abe and husband Ronald, Flintstone, Cecelia R. Knippenberg and husband Charles, Cumberland, and Ann S. Auvil, Cumberland; and four grandchildren, Jaslin Weaver, Ryan Estep, Aaron Estep and Brenae Knippenberg.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Sweyko officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

NANCY L. GORMAN
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Services for Nancy Loughrie Gorman, 48, of Murfreesboro, who died Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. Thomas Hospital was held Sunday at Central Christian Church. The Rev. Mark Calvert Rosenberger officiated.
She was the daughter of Harold and Janice Arnold Loughrie of Grantsville, Md.
She is survived by her husband, Butch Gorman; sons, C.G. and Chris, both of Murfreesboro; stepchildren, Sara Fisher of LaVergne, Kelly Gorman of Murfreesboro; her parents; sisters, Jeanette Finkel of Pennsylvania, Valerie Stevens of West Virginia; grandchild, Austin Hulme; and dearest friends, Melissa, Angie and Judy.
A native of Grantsville, Md., she was a retired executive aide at Middle Tennessee State University.
Visitation followed services at the church. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Woodfin Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
