HARRY H. DAVIS
ROMNEY, W.Va. -- Harry H. Davis, 78, of Romney, died Feb. 25, 2001, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born on March 21, 1921, in Romney, he was the son of the late John William and Nancy (Robinson) Davis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert W. "Bill" Davis and John Floyd "Tom" Davis.
Surviving are one sister, Elizabeth M. "Sis" Payne, Romney; four nieces; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Swope officiating.
Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
ELIZABETH B. CATHERMAN
FROSTBURG -- Elizabeth Byrnes Catherman, 76, of Mt. Pleasant St., Frostburg, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ed Allen, Jobie Cosgrove, Edward Crowe, Eddie Crowe, Kevin Crowe and Bryan Smith.
LENA L. SEBOLD
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK -- Lena L. Sebold, 88, of Mountain Lake Park, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born on July 26, 1912, in Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel C. Blamble and Anna (Wotring) Blamble. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Sebold in 1967; and her son, James E. Sebold in 1997.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janet Sebold of Mountain Lake Park; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
BERTHA L. MYERS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. -- Bertha L. Myers, 87, a resident of Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born on Aug. 17, 1913, at Horseshoe, she was a daughter of the late George "Tom" and Julia Ann (Shank) Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene George Myers on Feb. 11, 1980; three brothers; five sisters; two infant daughters; and one grandson.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and was a life long member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Fort Ashby, where she taught Sunday school for 32 years.
Surviving are four sons, Gilbert E. Myers, Baltimore, Md., G. Delbert Myers, James H. Myers and wife Colleen and R. Bruce Myers and wife Judy, all of Fort Ashby; two daughters, Wilma C. Hart and husband Jim, Struthers, Ohio, and Beverly B. Bly, Bunker Hill; twin sister, Beatrice Hayes and husband Grayson, a resident of Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby; sister-in-law, Pauline Pennington and husband Leonard, Ridgeley; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Fort Ashby, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wes Beahm officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery, Ft. Ashby.
CARL R. LUDWICK
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Carl R. Ludwick, 82, of 67 State St., Keyser, died on Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Jan. 6, 1919, at Keyser, he was a son of the late Charles D. and Nora Mae (Abe) Ludwick. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth E. (Schwartz) Coffman Ludwick; an infant sister; and a step-brother, Joseph Coffman.
Mr. Ludwick, a well known local businessman, was the owner and operator of Ludwick's Chevrolet from 1953-1980. A 1936 graduate of Keyser High School, he attended Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va., and was a 1940 graduate of Potomac State College, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Potomac State College Singers. He was also a graduate of the Chevrolet School of Modern Merchandising and Management. Mr. Ludwick served in the U.S. Army from 1941-46 in the coastal artillery, Army Air Corps and in the armored tank division. He was also a licensed airplane pilot since 1948. Carl and his step-brothers were also the founders of the original Keyser Television Company.
Ever active in the local community, Carl was a member of the Keyser Rotary Club since 1946, serving as president of the club in 1961 and was named a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He served as the executive secretary of the Keyser-Mineral County Chamber of Commerce in the 1960's and as secretary-treasurer of the Mineral County Industrial Development Corp., as well as secretary-treasurer of the Keyser-New Creek Industrial Development Corp. He was also a member and treasurer of the WAKO Gun Club for many years, a member of the Bull and Bear Investment Club and served as treasurer for Highland Arts Unlimited. He was a member of both Nancy Hanks Post #3518, VFW, and Boyce Houser Post #41, American Legion, Keyser. He was a member of the former Yeoman's Club in Keyser, in which he was instrumental in obtaining the first street signs in Keyser. He was also a member and past president of the Adult Keyser American Field Service and acted as father for two AFS students, Kalle Lisberg of Norway, and Emmanuel Camassa of Cyprus.
Mr. Ludwick was extremely active in the life of the Keyser Church of the Brethren, serving as a Sunday school teacher in the 1950's, as superintendent of Sunday school from 1955-59 and was a lifetime deacon of the congregation. He served as past chairman of the Ministry and Evangelism Committee, chairman of the Building Committee for the new building addition dedicated in 1980, chairman and longtime trustee of the church's Camp Galilee summer camp in Terra Alta. In addition, he was chairman of the Finance and Trustee Commission of the Church of the Brethren for several terms. He was a well known bass singer and was a member of the church choir from his teenage years.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, whom he married
in 1946, Edith M. (Smith) Ludwick; two sons, Carl R. "Rick" Ludwick Jr. and Martha Hamby, Washington, D.C., and Bruce E. Ludwick and Gail, Keyser; step-brothers and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Harry Coffman and family, Keyser, Dr. and Mrs. Charles L. Coffman and family, Keyser, and Mrs. Sally (Coffman) Romig and family, Keyser; two grandsons, Bruce E. Ludwick Jr. and Charles D. Ludwick II, both of Keyser; and special cousins, C.A. "A.J." Ludwick Jr. and family, Moorefield, and Annie (Ludwick) Taylor and family, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Keyser Church of the Brethren on Thursday at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dwight Ramsey officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Arnold Cemetery, Junction.

GEORGE A. AMATO
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- George Andrew Amato, 74, of Knobley Estates, Ridgeley, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Nov. 4, 1926, in Ridgeley, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Angelina (Beneduce) Amato. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sophia Lorraine (White) Amato; a son, Anthony M. Amato Sr.; a grandson, Anthony M. Amato Jr.; three brothers, Anthony Amato, Louis Amato and Patsy Amato; and two sisters, Filomenia Benton and Mary Amato.
Mr. Amato was a member of The Church of the Annunciation, Fort Ashby.
Mr. Amato graduated from Ridgeley High School in 1945 and started his career at Kelly-Springfield in Cumberland, Md., in 1944, working in the mill room until 1971, when he transferred to the Kelly plant in Fayetteville, N.C.
Mr. Amato retired from the Kelly and returned to the Ridgeley area in 1984. Mr. Amato was a special husband, father and grandfather. He was a generous and kind-hearted family man, an avid movie buff and college basketball fan. He was a faithful supporter of the Frankfort Falcons Football team, attending nearly all home games.
George was an avid collector of "you name it-he had it", but more importantly, "if you needed it, he gave it".
He developed a special, unique bond with each of his children and grandchildren. The memories will sustain us now as we say good-bye to our beloved father, grandfather and friend. Always remember, Pap, "you were a damn nice fella." We will never forget you.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia E. Ross and fiancé Anthony Michael Sabia, Fayetteville, Christine M. Smith and fiancé Roger Harris, Short Gap, and Kathleen M. Henry and husband Thomas, Keyser; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Amato Ray, Japan; eight grandchildren, Gary Bret Ross and wife Lavonne, Wendy Renee Bynum and husband Ricky, Fayetteville, Dr. Melissa Lorraine Lambert and husband Dr. Wayne Lambert of Nashville, Tenn., Daniel Jason Smith and wife Holly of Charleston, David Jeffrey Smith of Morgantown, Jennifer Lynn Smith of Ridgeley, Shawn Christopher Henry of Keyser, and Jeffrey Matthew Henry of Keyser; three great-grandsons, Matthew Bret Ross, Zachary Tyler Ross and Garrett Edward Bynum of Fayetteville; and his special companion, Max the cat.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Christian Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Annunciation, Fort Ashby, on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Chetock as celebrant.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Smith, David Smith, Shawn Henry, Jeff Henry, Ricky Bynum and Bret Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Foley Jr. and Pat Foley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
At Mr. Amato's request, his body will be cremated.
Interment will be held at a later date at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
