WILLIAM D. CARROLL JR.
HANOVER, Pa. -- William Dyer Carroll Jr., 58, of Hanover, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Hanover Hospital, Hanover.
Born July 13, 1942, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William D. Carroll Sr. and Thelma I. (Vanetta) Carroll.
Mr. Carroll was an employee for Hanover Lantern. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served from 1963 to 1966.
Surviving are a special friend, Peggy Wilson; three daughters, Crystal Carroll, Marla Kelly and Sherry Carroll; one son, William D. Carroll III; three sisters, Christine Catrill, Donna King and Thelma Dean; five brothers, John Carroll, Gary Carroll, Neal Emerick, Jack Vanetta and Sonny Vanetta; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Md.
Military honors will be accorded by members of the local veterans organizations.
HOWARD L. MORRIS
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Howard Leroy Morris, 82, of Lions Manor Nursing Center, Cumberland, formerly of Mount Savage Road, Mount Savage, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at the Manor.
Born May 24, 1918, in Cumberland, he was the only child of the late Ambrose and Florence (O'Baker) Morris. In 1997, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Eleanor (Sturtz) Morris.
Mr. Morris is survived by his children, Leroy "Lee" Morris and wife Brenda, Mount Savage, and Marlene K. Jewell and husband Jeff, Surfside Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Morris was a retired Goodyear Tire employee. He had worked as a recapper at the Kelly Retail Store in Cumberland for 30 years. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former coach of the Barrellville Little League team. He was a founding father of the Barrellville Outdoor Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, Pa., on Friday, March 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 3 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Wellersburg, Pa.

AVERY M. MICHAELS
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- Avery May Michaels, infant daughter of David Wayne Michaels and Heather Dawn Stevey died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
She was born Feb. 24, 2001, in Cumberland, Md.
In addition to her parents, surviving are one sister, Listin Ash Michaels; her twin brother, Gavin Wayne Michaels; maternal grandparents, Larry G. Stevey and wife Sharon, Wiley Ford; maternal great-grandparents, Herbert Stevey, Wiley Ford, Richard D. Dicken and wife Vernadine, Valley Road, Cumberland; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Michaels, Cumberland; great-grandmother, Goldie Crabtree; and a number of aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

CLYDE S. WALTERS
CUMBERLAND -- Clyde Stanley Walters, 81, of 54 Marion St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at their private retreat in Chaneysville, Pa.
Born Dec. 24, 1919, in Chaneysville, he was the son of the late Russell P. Walters and Cora (Trail) Walters.
Mr. Walters was a brakeman on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the Transportation Department of the Chessie System. He was a member of Melvin United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II where he served with the 234th Combat Engineers Battalion for four years. He was a member of the Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion, Chaneysville Senior Citizens, and A.A.R.P. Chapter 2400.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Walters and Delbert Walters; and two sisters, Ruth Mearkle and Thelma Hardy.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Alderton) Walters; four brothers, Donald R. Walters, Cumberland, Curtis Walters, Harrisburg, Pa., Russell Walters Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Orville Walters, Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Melvin United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be James Clark, Howard Hovatter, Kenny Perdew, John Alderton, Shawn Streett and Fred Streett.
Family requests that memorials be made to the Melvin United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
GERALDINE V. CORRIGAN
CUMBERLAND -- Geraldine V. "Jerri" Corrigan, 78, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 31, 1923, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Lucy (Dove) Jacobs. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Miller.
Mrs. Corrigan was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Harold J. Corrigan; one daughter, Judy Boone; one sister, Helen Jones; two brothers, Irvin Jacobs Jr. and Robert Jacobs and wife Colleen, all of Cumberland; special grandson, Todd Boone and wife Carla, Frostburg; and granddaughters, Tristi Boone, Silver Spring, and Tisa Boone Smith, Cumberland; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Boone, Tristan Boone and Tayla Smith.
A graveside service will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Capacchione officiating.

DONALD F. PARKS
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Donald F. Parks, 64, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg.
Mr. Parks was born in Inkerman, W.Va.. He lived in Florida since 1959 having moved from Cumberland. He was owner/operator of Donco Auto Body in St. Petersburg for 25 years, and also was an instructor at North East High School. He was a member of Suncoast Cathedral and was an avid history buff and reader.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Parks of St. Petersburg; two daughters, Linda Shafer of St. Petersburg and Deborah Bloom of Miami; two sons, Randall Parks of St. Petersburg and Donald Parks Jr. of LaVale, Md.; three brothers, Kenneth Park, Jack Park and Gary Park, all of West Virginia; five sisters, Ann Donahoe of West Virginia, Norma James, Rena Love and Sharon Robertson, all of Cumberland, and Carol Valesquez of Arizona; mother, Mildred Park of Cumberland; and six grandchildren.
