LaShell R. Smith
ROSADELE - LaShell Renee Smith, 29, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004 at the University Hospital in Baltimore.
She was born Jan. 23, 1975, the daughter of Diane Simms and Billy Zeigler Sr.
"Shell" as she was call was educated in Dorchester County, graduating from North Dorchester in 1994.
She was employed at Decco in Rosadele and Allen Family Food in Hurlock. She also participated in the Miroget program.
Ms. Smith attended various churches in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia and later became a member of Pathways to Christ in Vienna.
She is survived by her son, Lamar Smith of Rosadele; two sisters, Virginia Smith (Leo Gross) of Federalsburg, Cassandra Zeigler; two brothers, Frances Zeigler, Billy Zeigler Jr., all of Ocala, Fla. She is also survived by her grandmother, Annie Belle Zeigler of Ocala, Fla. and Robert Frazier of Ocala and Oak Dotson of Cambridge; aunts, Denise Smith, Hope Smith, both of Hurlock; uncles, Robert Smith (Ellenor) of Denton, Rickey Smith of Hagerstown, Sylvester Dotson (Theresa) of Virginia, Carlos Smith of Princess Anne, Frederick Smith of Cambridge, Bruce Smith of Federalsburg; close friends, Alvin Wright of Preston and Ernest Dennis of Rhodesdale and Tanya Newcomb of Federalsburg; godchildren, Deasia Robinson and Daquan Cannon, known as Tink Man of Federalsburg and several great-uncles and aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mildred Smith; maternal grandfather, Wallace Meekins, Jerome Smith, Ethel Smith, Michael Smith and Roland Gross Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pathway to Christ Church in Vienna where friends may view from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery, Preston.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock.
Mildred W. Jones
EASTON - Mildred Wolford Jones, 95, formerly of Cambridge, died on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
Born in Cambridge on July 28, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Marcellus Edward and Gertrude Gray Slacum. After attending public school and working on the family farm, she worked for many years as a seamstress at several local garment factories.
Mrs. Jones married Theron S. Jones in 1937. He passed away in 1950.
Mrs. Jones and her husband operated a grocery store in Cambridge. She moved to Easton to make her home with her daughter in 1996.
A member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge, she was also a member of the Dr. Hines' Bible Class and the Ruth Circle at the church and the Dorchester County Homemakers Club. Devoted to her family and church, she especially enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. Jones is survived by a daughter, Ellen Marie Foster and her husband, Donald of Easton; a sister, Lillie S. Robertson of Delray Beach, Fla.; a brother, Calvin B. Slacum of Trenton, N.J.; two grandchildren, Donald T. Foster and his wife, Andrea and Donna Marie Bramble and her husband, D'Arcy; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bramble, Amanda Bramble, Caroline Bramble, Christopher Bramble, Nicole Foster and Michael Foster.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Todd and three brothers, Marcellus Slacum, Darcy Slacum and Richard Slacum.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Easton Church of God. Burial will be at Dorchester Memorial Park in Cambridge.
Pallbearers will be Donald T. Foster, Michael J. Foster, W. Edward Todd, William Slacum, Robert Lee Robertson and Fred H. Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas and Christopher Bramble.
Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton from 7 to 9 tonight.

Joan D. Wenrich
CAMBRIDGE - Joan D. Wenrich, 69 passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
She was born April 29, 1935 in Manchester, England, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Hannah Kettley Davis.
Mrs. Wenrich graduated from high school in England. On Sept. 29, 1956 she was married to Gurney Richard Wenrich, whom she met while he was stationed in England with the U.S. Air Force. They moved back to the United States in 1959. Mr. Wenrich passed away on Sept. 10, 2003.
Mrs. Wenrich was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, and had been active with the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary and had worked at the Robin Hood Shop. She had also worked with the Cancer Support Group.
She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Adonna LaPallo of Millersville, Leslie Strickland of Cambridge and Linda Nilsson of Kernersville, N.C.; two sons, Kenneth R. Wenrich of Schenectady, N.Y. and Steven L. Wenrich of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren: Allyson Wenrich, Michael Denford, Stacy Wenrich, Rita LaPallo, Travis Reed and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Wenrich. A sister, Dorothy Jolley of Winnipeg, Canada and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Hilda Howarth, Madge Thornley, Nora Kenning and Enid Boydell and a brother, Master Benjamin Franklin Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen B. Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.

Joshua I. Nichols
BALTIMORE - Joshua Issac Nichols, aged 12 days, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was born on Oct. 11, 2004, at JHH, the son of Terry J. Nichols of Cambridge and Charles Hunkapiller Sr. of Easton.
In addition to his parents, his maternal grandmother, S. Jean Nichols of Cambridge; aunts Penny Doty and Tracy Nichols of Cambridge; uncles Jason Doty and Philip Nichols of Cambridge, and Louis Hunkapiller of Chicago, Ill.; three cousins, Maclain Doty, Lake Nichols and Carter Nichols, all of Cambridge; three step-sisters, Ruth Ann McCulloch of Florida, Carol Lee Lefflew, and Alice Hunkapiller; and three step-brothers, Charles Hunkapiller Jr. and David Hunkapiller of Pennsylvania and Louis Hunkapiller of Chicago, survive him.
His maternal grandfather Larry Nichols of Cambridge preceded him in death, along with paternal grandmother Alice Hunton of Ridgely.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Douglas Ridley of Grace United Methodist Church, Cambridge.

William R. Kreh
ROCKVILLE - William Richard Kreh, 76, retired editor of the Navy Times newspaper, and recipient of the U.S. Navy's highest civilian award died on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at the Casey House, a hospice, after a long illness.
Mr. Kreh was born Jan. 27, 1928 in Highland Park, Ill. From 1946-47, he served in the U.S. Navy where he learned journalism. Honorably discharged, he married the late Beverly Ann Kreh, and settled in Montgomery County, in 1948 to raise four children.
A journalist, he worked 31 years for the Army Times Publishing Co. He rose through the ranks of the Navy Times to become its editor-in-chief. When Mr. Kreh retired in 1985, the U.S. Navy bestowed upon him its Distinguished Public Service Award. He continued after retirement to write for the paper as a columnist. He authored a book, Citizen Sailors, the Story of the Naval Reserve, published in 1969.
He belonged to the Navy League of the United States, the U.S. Naval Institute, the Naval Reserve Association, and the Naval and Maritime Correspondents Circle, and was an honorary member and longtime supporter of the Navy Band. He gained national recognition for his efforts to memorialize the USS Utah at Pearl Harbor.
He was devoted to his wife of 42 years, the former Beverly Ann Manley, who died in February 1990. They are survived by their four grown children: William James Kreh and his wife, Laurie, of Silver Spring, David Richard Kreh of Ramona, Calif., Deborah Lynn Isard of Gaithersburg, and Donna Marie Greenleaf and her husband, Robert, of Cambridge; and seven grandchildren: Patricia, Christina and Sarah Kreh, Megan and Ashleigh Isard, Tad and Rachel Greenleaf. Mr. Kreh also is survived by a sister Ethel Cubrda of Kalispell, Mt. .
Mr. Kreh enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hosting family holiday gatherings, poker parties with the neighbors, watching classic movies and ice hockey, doing crossword puzzles, spoiling the family dog and cats, and learning to surf the net. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature and his willingness to help and forgive others.

Barry R. Chester
WILMINGTON, Del. - Barry Randolph Chester, 48, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at his home in Wilmington, after a short illness.
He was born June 10, 1956 in Cambridge, son of the late Raymond Randolph Chester and the Rev. Joan A. Harris Chester.
He received his education in the public schools of D orchester County and was employed at O.C.I. as a supervisory.
Mr. Chester is survived by a daughter, Grandy Shantil Gordy and Gary Gordy, whom he loved as a son, both of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Keria and Renaldo Barry Gordy; five brothers, Kevin R. Chester of Copperas Cove, Texas, Raymond Chester of Baltimore, Tony C. Chester of Marina, Calif., Ronnie and Ricky Chester, both of Cambridge; four sisters, Brenda Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., Celestine Thompson of Cambridge, Charlotte Thompson of Philadelphia, Pa. and Avais D. Millard of Salisbury; a long time friend and companion, Patricia Gordy Lewis; two aunts, Frances Brown of Cambridge, Reba Jones of Philadelphia, Pa., Glenda Taylor of Mechanicsville, Va., Susanne Cornish of Cambridge, Tina R. Cornish of Cambridge; two uncles, Thomas M. Harris of Cambridge and John E. Harris; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also survived by two special friends, Cheyenne Jones and Patricia.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church in Cambridge. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services.

Chester Addendum
WILMINGTON, Del. - Barry Randolph Chester, 48, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at his home in Wilmington, after a short illness.
He is also survived by an aunt, Arlette Sampson (Rufus) of Cambridge
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at Bethel AME Church. Burial will follow in Cordtown Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services.

Cornelia J. Edmondson
CAMBRIDGE - Cornelia J. Edmondson, 52, passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 19, 2004 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury.
She was born in Cambridge on Aug. 12, 1952, the daughter of the late William Paul and Elizabeth Bramble Jones. She was a 1970 graduate of Cambridge High School and in 1974 received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education at Salisbury State Teachers College.
Mrs. Edmondson taught at Sandy Hill Elementary School for several years and later did some substitute teaching and taught at the Wesleyan Christian School in Denton.
Mrs. Edmondson was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and aided in other church functions. She was always an animal lover. Over the years she owned and worked with several horses and successfully competed at numerous show events.
Strong and resilient, she was a loving mother who put her children before all else.
She is survived by one daughter, Carla E. Edmondson of Seattle, Wash.; one son, Charles E. Edmondson III of Cambridge, and several cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at Zion United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Friday by the Rev. Kevin E. English and the Rev. Ron Meredith. Burial will follow in Old Trinity Churchyard.
Pallbearers will be Charles E. Edmondson Jr., George Taylor, Mark Bramble, Jack Brooks, Tom Moore and the Rev. Delmer Willey.
