HELEN M. KEPLINGER
MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. -- Helen Mae Hawk Keplinger, 83, of Markleysburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1917, in Hartmansville, W.Va., the daughter of the late Henry and Alice Blackburn Hawk. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth B. Keplinger in 1990; two sisters, Evelyn House and Lola Junkins; and one brother, Oliver Hawk.
Mrs. Keplinger sold Avon Products for more than 30 years.
Surviving are these children, Rosetta Mae Axton of Somerset, and Tara Lee Hoffman of Markleysburg; grandchildren, Sherry Fagan, Melody Choates and Shawn Axton, all of Evansville, Ind., Edward Hoffman of Markleysburg; and one sister, Gladys Keegan of Keyser, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service held.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rodney S. Turner Funeral Home, Markleysburg.
URSULA L. KUHLMAN
LAVALE -- Ursula L. (Martz) Kuhlman, 89, of LaVale, died Sunday at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Nov. 8, 1911, in LaVale, she was the daughter of the late Martin Joseph and Elizabeth Mary (Marley) Martz. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, William Lawrence Kuhlman; her son, Lawrence J. Kuhlman; her son-in-law, Fred Gellner; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Kuhlman was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Pope John XXIII Council #5450, Knights of Columbus.
She was a wonderful woman, inspiring those she touched.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lillian Louise Gellner, Linden, N.C., and Ursula Joan Whitman and husband John, Flintstone; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Kuhlman, LaVale; six grandchildren, Jackie Dicken and husband Michael, LaVale, Kimberly Allamong, Winchester, Va., Greg Gellner, Fayetteville, N.C., Lisa Crawford, Sanford, N.C., Tina Van Sickle, LaVale, and Candice Whitman, Flintstone; seven great-grandchildren, Dennis, Chasity, Jasmine, Dianna, Autumn, Allison and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews, that were very close to her heart.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Vernon Busch, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Barnett, Paul Kuhlman, Bob Kuhlman, Kenny Rounds, Dale Vanderhout and Ronald Holt.
JEFFERY M. BEARD SR.
CUMBERLAND -- Jeffery Mark Beard Sr., 40, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his residence.
Born Nov. 9, 1960, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Bernard Beard and Mary (Stegmaier) Beard and stepson of Joyce (Fox) Beard, all of Cumberland.
Mr. Beard worked for the State of Maryland with the D.D.M.P. Parole and Probation.
He was an A.A. member and a Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his former wife, Terrie Lynn (Porter) Beard, Cumberland; one daughter, Mandy Lynn Beard; one son, Jeffery Mark Beard Jr.; four sisters, Mary W. Owens, Lisa Marie Shields, all of Cumberland, Catherine Lynn Snellings, Waldorf, Md., and Christine Galloway, Sunnyside, Md.; six brothers, Joseph William Beard, Oldtown, Bernard Scott Beard, Goldvein, Va., Timothy Edward Beard, Waldorf, Michael Eugene Beard, William Beard, both of Springfield, Va., and Charles Beard, Lexington, Va.; special friends, Gary Ault and Bob "Clarkie" Clark; and a very special aunt, Joanne, as well as other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m.
At Mr. Beard's request, he will be cremated.

HOMER E. SCHADE
CUMBERLAND -- Friends will be received for Homer E. Schade at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.
RUTH M. KLINE
QUINCY, Pa. -- Ruth M. (Atkinson) Kline, 95, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, formerly of 12460 Wedgewood Drive, Waynesboro, died at 8:35 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2001, in the home.
Born Jan. 15, 1906, in Lonaconing, Md., she was the daughter of the late Hugh H. III and Elizabeth (Bell) Atkinson.
Mrs. Kline graduated from Central High School, Lonaconing, with the class of 1924 and from Frostburg Normal School, Frostburg, Md., in 1926 with a degree in education.
Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Frederick County, Md., for five years. She and her husband, the late Walter T. Kline, were married
on Sept. 16, 1931, in Lonaconing.
Mrs. Kline was a member of the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church and the Women's Association Afternoon Circle of the church. She also was a member of the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and Potomac Edison Fore Runners, Hagerstown, Md.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet K. Zook, Waynesboro, four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna B. Boteler and Agnes B. Willis, both of Durham, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Hugh H. Atkinson IV.
Services will be held at the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, on Friday, March 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jessen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Friday morning in the church parlor.
Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
ELEANOR L. PRICE
LAVALE -- Eleanor Lucille (Martin) Price, 94, of LaVale, died Sunday, March 3, 2001, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 20, 1906, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William Addison and Lillian (Rizer) Martin.
Mrs. Price also was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Homer "Bud" Price Sr.; two sons, Harry Homer Price Jr. and John Price; one daughter, Viola Ruth (Price) Mason Beaver; three brothers, Luther Martin, Carl Martin, and Paul Martin; two sisters, Ruth Bloom and Mildred Hartsock Elrick; and one grandson whom she raised, Boyd A. Mason Jr.
During World War II, Mrs. Price had worked at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company making bullets.
Mrs. Price was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, where she had been the organist and pianist for many years. She also belonged to the Ladies Friendship Bible Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Lee (Price) Horn, Chester, Va.; two brothers, Ralph Martin, Cumberland, and Charles Martin, North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Virginia Easton, Tampa, Fla., and Catherine Johnson, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from Park Place United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lee Brotemarkle officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
