FRANCES M. MAHANEY
CUMBERLAND -- Frances Marion Mahaney, 82, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of South Cumberland, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at the nursing home.
Born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Deer Park, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Mary Beatrice (Ryan) Rowan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Mahaney Sr. in 1978; and one brother, James Franklin Rowan.
Mrs. Mahaney was a former employee of the Celanese and Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and the Cumberland Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph E. Mahaney Jr. and wife Blanche, Kensington, James W. Mahaney and wife Juanita, Evansville, Ind.; one daughter, Karen Lynn Mahaney Speis and husband George, Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Jack Dempsey Rowan, Cumberland, Thomas Eugene Rowan, Columbia; two sisters, Mary Rowan Shepherd, Kathleen Rowan Sisk, both of Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, Andrea Robin Mahaney Frye, Germantown, Denise Ann Mahaney Frye, Boyds, Christopher Kevin Mahaney, Brentwood, Danielle Antonette Mahaney Ballantine, Greenbelt, Teresa Lynn Mahaney Burnett, Evansville, Ind., Cynthia Diane Mahaney Vincent, Evansville, Ind., George Speis Jr., Raleigh, N.C., Daniel Speis, Martinsburg, Charity Speis, Fayetteville, N.C., Mysti Speis Dye, Fort Meade, and Sarah Speis, Martinsburg; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

JUDY A. LINN
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Judy Ann Linn, 50, of 12900 Woodcock Hollow Road, Mount Savage, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 22, 1950, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph Linn and Othalia Alma (Hamilton) Linn. She was also preceded in death by a great niece, Skye Linn White; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Linn.
She is survived by five brothers, David R. Linn and wife Nina "Snook", Homewood Addition, Cumberland, Ronald A. Linn, Mount Savage, Thomas G. Linn and wife Leona, Homewood Addition, Cumberland, Terry L. Linn and wife Kim, Mount Savage, Nicky A. Linn and wife Kathy, Mount Savage; five sisters, Kulleena "Doll" Gallen and husband John "Nick", Wiley Ford, Linda M. Linn and fiancé Terry Smith, Wiley Ford, Sharon L. Tharp and husband Ronnie, Short Gap, W.Va., Sheila R. Keister and fiancé Rick, North Carolina, Vicky S. Wilson and husband Jim, Beans Cove, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 12 noon at the funeral home with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
FLORENCE L. DAVIS
CUMBERLAND -- Florence Louise (Smith) Davis, 80, of Fulton Street, Cumberland, departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 30, 1920, at Claysburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Elliott Smith and Mary R. (Jones) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Davis Sr. on Jan. 3, 1969; four sisters, Cordelia Holly, Elizabeth S. Younger, Marion V. Simms and Mary R. Brooks; and two brothers, Jayotis G. Smith and Thomas H. Smith Sr.
Ms. Florence (as she was so lovingly called) lived in Cumberland, and was a member and past treasurer for 30 years of the McKendree United Methodist Church. She was active in her children's school and was a past president of Columbia Street School PTA. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 44 years, serving as president of the Fulton Myers Unit #153 and was a member for the past 12 years of the Fort Cumberland Unit #13.
She is survived by three sons, Warren F. Johnson and wife Virginia, Norfolk, Va., Fred J. Bell and wife Grace and Henry L. Davis Jr. and wife Isa, all of Rochester, N.Y.; four daughters, Sharon E. Brown and husband Vincent, Oxon Hill, Grace L. Davis, Washington, D.C., Constance L. Davis and Henrietta L. Davis, both of Springfield, Va.; two brothers, William C. Smith, Rochester, N.Y., and Paul V. Smith, California; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a very special devoted friend, Walter Raymond (Ray) Beall, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the McKendree United Methodist Church, Paca Street, on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Goodwin Douglas officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Fort Cumberland Unit #13, American Legion Auxiliary, will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 8 p.m.
Friends may call at the church after 12 noon on Monday.
MARK V. SOLOMON
SWANTON -- Mark Vernon Solomon, 58, of Swanton, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Feb. 25, 1943, at Crellin, he was a son of the late James H. and Alta (Friend) Solomon. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Velma Paugh.
Surviving are two brothers, Wallace Solomon of North East, Pa., and Sherwood Solomon of Oakland; and six sisters, Ada Bishop of Richmond, Va., Barbara Dawson, Joyce Simmons and Judy Pace, all of Elk Garden, W.Va., Doraine Moreland of Romney, W.Va., and Sandra Moreland of Terra Alta, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Byron Newberry officiating.
Interment will be in the Hamil Cemetery, Kitzmiller.

CUMBERLAND -- Friends for Donald Elbert Burns Holtzman, 84, of Cumberland, will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday, March 11, 2001, from 1 until 4 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Monday, March 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dana Umbel of Ft. Ashby Independent Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Following the funeral, a gathering of friends and family will be held in the Banquet Room of the Park and Dine West Restaurant, Mechanic Street, Cumberland.
CLARA M. FOREMAN
CUMBERLAND -- Clara M. Foreman, 71, of Cumberland, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at her home.
Born on March 17, 1929, in Little Orleans, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Emma F. (Trail) Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul W. Kennedy.
Mrs. Foreman was a homemaker. Her family was her life. In recent years, she was a member of the Goodfellowship Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Willis E. Foreman of 53 years; three sons, Jeffery L. Foreman, Short Gap, Gregory E. Foreman Sr. and wife Kay, Robin C. Foreman and wife Robin, all of Cumberland; one daughter, Maryellen Bush and husband Darrell, Furnace Acres, W.Va.; one sister, Dolores Alderton and husband Richard, Cumberland; four brothers, Richard A. Kennedy and wife Dora, John W. Kennedy and wife Betty, all of Cumberland, David F. Kennedy and wife Donna, Cresaptown, Gary R. Kennedy and wife Ruth, LaVale; five grandchildren, Gregory E. Foreman Jr. and wife Mandi, Stephania L. Foreman, Jennifer L. Burns and husband John, Megan E. Bush and Katie E. Bush; and one great-granddaughter, Jordan L. Burns.
