JACKSON E. BEARINGER
CUMBERLAND -- Jackson Eric Bearinger, beloved infant son of Jason and Heather (Burke) Bearinger, passed away eight days after his birth on Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who anticipated his arrival. They include his paternal grandparents, Gary and Elisa (Lopez) Bearinger, Cumberland; maternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth (Shelton) Sweitzer, Cumberland, and Dennis and Dila Burke, Cumberland; maternal great-grandmothers, Ethelyne Shelton and Mary "Boots" Burke, both of Cumberland; maternal great-great-grandmother, Velma Hoban, Cumberland; paternal great-grandmother, Raquel Lopez, Puerto Rico; aunts and uncles, Eric Bearinger and wife Beth, Baltimore, Matthew Bearinger and wife Loretta, Baltimore, Kelli Burke, Cumberland, Denny Burke, Cumberland, and Bobby Sweitzer, Cumberland; cousin, Andrew Bearinger, Baltimore; and many other close family and friends.
No matter what we hoped for, Jackson was exactly what we wanted.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas Seaman officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
GEAN M. DAVIS
WESTERNPORT -- Gean M. Davis, 75, formerly of Westernport, died on Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Luke on July 8, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Ivor Bell and Catherine Shillingburg Bell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Julian J. Davis Sr.; and one son, Julian J. Davis Jr.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Sancta Maria #485, Westernport. She had worked for Westvaco in the lab for several years.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Davis, Westernport; two sisters, Elizabeth O'Brien and husband Thomas, Piedmont, W.Va., and Adeline Westfall, also of Piedmont; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Peter's in Westernport on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
AUGUSTUS MCKENZIE
GLENCOE, Pa. -- Augustus "Fatty" McKenzie, 68, of Glencoe, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at WMHS, Memorial Campus.
Born April 16, 1932, in Glencoe, he was the son of the late Augustus and Gladys (Chisolm) McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by brothers, Mason, Paul and Harry; and sister, Shirley Diehl.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty "Dolly" (Porter) McKenzie, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 31, 2001; children, Marsha Kosic, Glencoe, James and wife Kimberly (Miller), and Marilyn Heiple, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Teena Webreck and husband Brian, Berlin, Joseph and wife Tammy, Glencoe, and Marty and wife Mary Ann (Will), all of Glencoe, Lori Ling and husband Herb, Julie Courtney and husband Tom, Wendy Boyer and husband Kevin, all of Berlin, Heidi Keefer and husband Kyle, Glencoe, and Suzie St. Clair and husband Derrick, Friedens; 27 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, James and wife Bessie, Corriganville, Md., John and wife Rita, and Fred and wife Virginia, all of Wellersburg; and sisters, Sue Habersack and husband Elmer, Cresaptown, Md., Mary Faith Kennell and husband Ray, Kennells Mill, and Joan Haines and husband Walter, Glencoe.
Mr. McKenzie worked as a timber cutter and a trapper. He was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Kennells Mill Sportsmen's Club and the Glencoe Sportsmen's Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Wednesday, March 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, March 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, with the Rev. Charles R. Dunn officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Glencoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the 4 Center Special Care Unit, Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, MD 21502.
JONATHAN E. DOLLY
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- Jonathan Edwin Dolly, 16, of Knobley Street, Ridgeley, died Monday, March 12, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident in Fort Ashby.
Born on Aug. 15, 1984, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Carl Edwin and Pamela Jean (Propst) Dolly of Ridgeley. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl Dolly Sr.
Jonathan was a part-time employee of Broadwater Body and Paint, Ellerslie. He was a junior at Frankfort High School. He was a member of the Strikers Bowling League and the Highland Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, surviving are one sister, Rebecca Shirey and husband Corey, LaVale, Md.; one nephew, Joshua Shirey; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Dolly; maternal grandfather, Stanley Propst; maternal grandmother, Lois Propst, all of Cumberland; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Lancaster officiating.
Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.
WILLIAM M. ELFRITZ
CUMBERLAND -- William M. Elfritz, 74, of Cumberland, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at the home of his son, William, in Glendale, Ariz.
Born on June 13, 1926, in Barrelville, he was the son of the late William McKinley and Bertie (Bradour) Elfritz. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Elizabeth (Jones) Elfritz on Nov. 11, 1986; one sister, Mary Louise Friedman; and one brother, Arthur A. Elfritz.
Mr. Elfritz was a former employee of the B&O Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Elaine (Fout) Elfritz; three daughters, Carol Marie Twigg, Peoria, Ariz., Valarie Lee Bussard and Kimberly Kay Miller, both of Cumberland; three sons, John Edward Elfritz, Surprise, Ariz., Fred William Elfritz, Peoria, and William M. Elfritz Jr., Glendale; one step daughter, Samantha Beaubien, Cumberland; one brother, Charles Elfritz, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack W. Lancaster officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery, Cumberland. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Cumberland Veterans Honor Guard.
ANNA V. CHANEY
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- Anna Virginia Chaney, 73, formerly of Ridgeley, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at her Warsaw, Ind., residence.
Born on Dec. 6, 1927, in Wiley Ford, she was a daughter of the late John Abraham and Marie Alice (Whitacher) Kreiger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Persey Chaney in 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Rae Boyer and husband Gerry; a granddaughter, Heather Renee Boyer, all of Warsaw; two brothers, Charles R. Kreiger, Cumberland, Md., and Arthur C. Kreiger, Gaithersburg, Md.; and two sisters, Dorothy E. Hanifin, Cumberland, and Eileen B. Hedrick, Wiley Ford.
Mrs. Chaney, a homemaker, was a former member of the Women of the Moose #1028, Charlestown, and the Ladies Auxiliary, FOE, Aerie #1136, Brunswick, Md.
Graveside funeral services, under the direction of the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, will be conducted at the Hyndman Cemetery, Hyndman, on Friday, March 16, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate officiating.
