MARY "ETHEL" DEWITT
MCHENRY -- Mary "Ethel" (Savage) DeWitt, 99, formerly of McHenry, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 21, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
Born Dec. 1, 1901, in Sang Run, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Grant Savage and Martha (Cross) Savage. Mrs. DeWitt was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. DeWitt in 1978. She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul W. DeWitt; one daughter, Elva Jo Frantz; one sister, seven brothers, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are two daughters, Marie Keller, Pierceton, Ind.; Alice Strobel, McHenry; two sons, Edward DeWitt, McHenry; Joseph DeWitt, Oakland; one sister, Hazel Friend, Cambridge Springs, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary Ethel was a lifelong faithful member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kris DeWitt, Douglas DeWitt, Ronnie Wagner, Dave Wagner, Bradley Frantz and Gary Iden.

CUMBERLAND -- Friends will be received for William M. Elfritz at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Davis Memorial Cemetery, Cumberland.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.

SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. -- James P. "Jack" Martin, 61, of Springfield, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
At his request, his body will be cremated.
NELLIE L. BUNNELL
CUMBERLAND -- Nellie Louise (Griffith) Bunnell, 84, of Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of N. Lee Street, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 9, 1917, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary Catherine (Whittington) Griffith. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley C. Bunnell, on Feb. 18, 1999; two sisters, Sara Mace and Helen Morgan; and two brothers, Joseph Griffith and Martin Griffith.
Mrs. Bunnell was a retired quality control inspector for Fairchild Aircraft Co., Hagerstown. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are one sister, Nora Virginia Lohman, Sharpsburg; two special nieces, June Troupe, Clear Spring, and Dorothy Sponseller, Williamsport; a number of nieces and nephews; two step-grandsons, Warren C. Bunnell and Brian Bunnell; and two special friends, Cathrean Mogdol and Sherry Merica, both of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted Thursday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
EBERT S. BERG
MAYSVILLE, W.Va. -- Ebert S. Berg, 78, of Maysville, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at his home.
Born June 21, 1922, in Jordan Run, he was the son of the late Walter Samuel and Laura (Barger) Berg. He also was preceded in death by two sons; one daughter; two grandsons; three sisters; and one brother.
Mr. Berg was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Petersburg.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Irene G. (Alt) Berg; five sons, Jack Berg and Delmer R. Berg, both of Petersburg, the Rev. Lyle W. Berg Sr., Rusty Berg and Danny Berg, all of Maysville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Goldizen and Hazel Heavner, both of Maysville; two brothers, Austin Berg, Maysville, and Foster Berg of the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Cabins Assembly of God Church, because of the renovation of his home church, Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Markee and the Rev. Wendell Everett officiating.
Burial will be in the Berg Family Cemetery, Jordan Run.

CAROL R. FUCHS
LONACONING -- Carol Ramona (Johnson) Fuchs, 80, of 40 Main St., Lana Lu Apartments, Lonaconing, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 24, 1920, in Genoa, Wisc., she was a daughter of the late John G. and Ruth (Hastings) Johnson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Fuchs; two sons, Raymond and Scott; three sisters, Janet Johnson, Helen Shepherd and Norma Bramwell; and two brothers, Chuck and Roger.
Mrs. Fuchs was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Barton. She also was a member of the Barton American Legion Auxiliary Post 189 and Georges Creek Senior Citizens; and attended Georges Creek Adult Day Care Center.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Warnick and husband Don, Lonaconing, Mary Nagel, South Lyons, Mich., and Joan Fuchs, Salem, Wisc.; one son, John Fuchs, Detroit; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan McLees, Genoa, Wisc.; one brother, Larry Johnson, Genoa; and several nieces and nephews.
Her body was donated to the Maryland State Anatomy Board.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Saturday at 9 a.m. until service time.
A memorial service will he held at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with Sister Marietta Culhane, OSF, Pastoral Life Director of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing, officiating.
