MICHAEL L. COOK
FROSTBURG -- Michael L. Cook, 57, of Frostburg, formerly of Oakland, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on Sept. 17, 1943, in Washington, D.C., and he was the son of Barbara (Webster) Cook of Calhan, Colo.
Mr. Cook was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Gail (Firman) Cook; one sister, Jessica Wakefield of Arizona; and a brother, Matthew Webster of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m.
Services will begin on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ian Thomson officiating.
Following the services, his remains will be cremated.

MARTHA E. KESECKER
CUMBERLAND -- Martha Estelle Kesecker, 92, of 519 Patterson Ave., Cumberland, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1908, in Wellsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Fearnon and Irene (Ream) Fearnon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry V. Kesecker; and a daughter, June Bowman.
Mrs. Kesecker was a member of the Cumberland Chapter #56 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Harry Gene Kesecker, Keyser, W.Va.; a brother, John Fearnon, Glenn Ridge, N.J.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In honor of Mrs. Kesecker's request, she was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas K. White officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

J. PAUL KENNEY
FROSTBURG -- J. Paul Kenney, 90, of 263 W. Mechanic St., Frostburg, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, Frostburg.
Born June 24, 1910, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James and Mary Elizabeth (Counihan) Kenney. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Loyola "Chris" Kenney, James Kenney, Francis Kenney and Bernard Kenney; and one sister, Mary Catherine Snyder.
Mr. Kenney was retired from the Celanese Corp., after 45 years in the spinning department.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 24, Frostburg, having served in the Army Air Force in India during World War II. Four of his brothers also served.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Jenkins) Kenney; four daughters, Judith Jackson Stott and husband Wayne, Cumberland, Mary Beth Broome and husband the Rev. Richard Broome Jr., Mount Savage, Susan Haslacker, Frostburg, and Mary Louise Weaver and husband Terry, Oakland; two sons, William Roger Jackson and wife Diana, Frostburg, and John P. Kenney and wife Judy, Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He also had 20 foster children through the Department of Social Services, Cumberland; one sister, Rita Kenney, Frostburg; two brothers, Raymond Kenney and wife,Judy, Billings, Montana, and Joseph Eagan Kenney and wife Terry, Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. William E. Moody as celebrant and the Rev. Richard Boome Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside.

MAYME M. GRIFFITH
LIMA, Ohio -- Mayme M. Griffith, 87, formerly of 78 Locust St., Frostburg, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home, Lima.
Born on April 1, 1913, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Daisy (Werner) Warner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jake Griffith in 1973; one sister, Alda; and one brother, Robert.
Mrs. Griffith was a homemaker and formerly was employed in the bobbing department at the Celanese Fibers Corp. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg, and the church's W.E.L.C.A.
Mrs. Griffith is survived by one daughter, Earlene Metz and husband George, Lima; two sisters, Verna Kloss and Olive Hartig, both of Frostburg; one brother, William Warner, Frostburg; two nieces, Wanda Garlitz and Pam Harris, both of Frostburg; three nephews, Robert Kloss, Westminister, Richard Kloss, Springfield, Va., and Karl Hartig, Frostburg; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael H. Tamorria and Pastor Donald Sause officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Robert Kloss, Richard Kloss, Robert Harris, Karl Hartig Sr., Terry Garlitz and Eugene Garlitz.

JOHN D. LADSON
BEDFORD, Pa. -- John Daniel Ladson, 12, of Elder Lane, Bedford, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 15, 2001.
Born on Dec. 30, 1988, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of James Hilton Ladson and Marcy Joan (Sincevich) Ladson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara (Moore) Ladson.
John was a 6th grade student at Bedford Middle School, where he enjoyed playing soccer. His love for playing computer games was enhanced by his artistic talent for drawing and writing poetry. He was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his parents are his paternal grandfather, Francis H. Ladson of Centerville; maternal grandparents, Michael Sincevich and Marilyn (Hoffmann) Sincevich of Frederick; three brothers, Joseph H. Ladson, Thomas D. Ladson and Samuel H. Ladson, all at home; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles P. Leger officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
