H. REX TEAGARDEN
H. Rex Teagarden, 72, Oakland, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at his home.
Born May 16, 1927, in Wheeling, W.Va., he was a son of the late Harold O. and Mabel (Morgan) Teagarden.
He was retired from the Garrett National Bank with 32 years of service, and had served as vice president and cashier. He was then employed by Garrettland Realty for 12 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School for Bank Administration, and the International Bible Memory Association. He was also a member of the American Red Cross and as a 12-gallon blood donor, a member of Oakland Lodge 192 AF&AM, and was one of the founding members of the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad, where he served for 11 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue (Filsinger) Teagarden; one son, Sherwin R. Teagarden, Oakland; three daughters, Sharon A. Watson, York, Pa., Lisa L. Durst, Swanton, and Lori A. Maffett, Lynchburg, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Teagarden, Parsons, W.Va., and Donald Teagarden, Mtn. Lake Park; two sisters, Evelyn Biser, Oakland, and Bonnie Snyder, Mtn. Lake Park; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Tuesday July 6, with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
Military graveside honors were accorded by members of the various veterans organizations in Garrett County.

HARVEY L. WILT
Harvey Lewis Wilt, 88, Oakland, formerly of Dundalk and Glen Burnie, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 18, 1910, near Swanton, he was a son of the late John Albert and Zelphia (Blocher) Wilt. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Andrew Wilt, Delbert Wilt, Porter Wilt, Howard Wilt, Arthur Wilt, and Ira Wilt; and four sisters, Lovada Murphy, Lula Armstrong, Viola Bray, and Velma Wilt. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a retired carpenter, having worked in his earlier years for the Glen L. Martin Company. He moved to Oakland in 1993, and was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Williams) Kumulides Wilt; three stepsons, Charles Kumulides, Arthur Kumulides, and George Kumulides; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ivan Ackerman and the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to Hospice of Garrett County or to the Ruth Enlow Library.
JOYCE C. BLUM
Joyce Carol Blum, 52, Woodbridge, Va., died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Potomac Hospital
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Gornall.
Survivors include her husband, Marc M. Blum; two daughters, Carisa Blum and Jennifer Blum; and one sister, Patricia Glotfelty, Oakland.
Friends were received at the Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City, Va., where a service was conducted Tuesday, June 29, with Dr. Steve Heartsill officiating. Interment was private.

RETHA E. FIKE
Retha E. Fike, 75, New Freedom, Pa., died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 29, 1923, in Hazelton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late G. Dewey and Iva (Frazee) Fike. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Oma Fike, and an infant brother, Charles Fike.
She was a member of the Shrewsbury (Pa.) Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert G. Fike; three sons, G. Samuel Fike, Timonium, Edwin L. Fike, Markleysburg, Pa., and Robert A. Fike, Shrewsbury; four brothers, Bill Fike, St. Petersburg, Fla., Ross Fike, Valparaiso, Ind., and Arthur Fike and James Fike, both of Chesterton, Ind.; two sisters, Armeda Hague, Pittsburgh, and Connie Eisentrout, Oakland; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rodney S. Turner Funeral Home, 254 Main Street, Markleysburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, and and at the Markleysburg Union Church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 2, the time of the service, with the Rev. Nevin Umbel officiating. Interment will be in the Asher Glade Cemetery, near Friendsville.

ALBERT C. GERO
Albert Charles Gero, 92, Cumberland, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 28, 1906, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was a son of the late Arsane N. and Annie (Stotler) Gero. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
He retired from Celanese Corporation after 35 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Mae (Riggs) Gero; two sons, Charles Fred Gero, Swanton, and Robert E. Gero, Cumberland; one daughter, Shirley Jones, Cumberland; one sister, Alice Halterman, Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a service was conducted Monday, June 28, with the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.

JEANNETTE GLOTFELTY
Jeannette Gloftelty, 78, Falling Waters, W.Va., formerly of McHenry, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at the Ravenwood Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born May 9, 1921, in McHenry, she was a daughter of the late George Samuel and Hattie Viola (Lowdermilk) Glotfelty. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Jonas, and Cecil Glotfelty, and three sisters, Effie Hamill, Dorla Bowman, and Annabelle Glotfelty.
She was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God and Woodmen of the World Camp 11, Oakland. She was a retired customer service representative for The Spa Hotel, Hollywood, Fla.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, where a service was conducted Monday, June 28, with the Rev. Alvin Kyle and the Rev. Robert Culler officiating.
Interment was in the Flatwoods (W.Va.) Cemetery.

VIOLA E. LANTZ
Viola E. Lantz, 84, Arthurdale, W.Va., died Thursday, June 24, 1999, in Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Davis, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John R. and Elizabeth (Mauzy) Harper. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
She attended the Kingwood (W.Va.) Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar M. Lantz, Aurora, W.Va.; two sons, Richard Lantz, Mtn. Lake Park, and Ronald Lantz, Ridgeley, W.Va.; one daughter, Donna Duley, Arthurdale; two brothers, Calvin Harper, Gadsden, Ala., and Burl Harper, Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Dysle, Canton, Ohio, Alta Jenkins, Akron, Ohio, and Martha Swann, Davis; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Browning Funeral Home, Kingwood, where a service was conducted Sunday, June 27, with the Rev. Anthony Judy officiating. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
LENA C. MASON
Lena Clusta Mason, 80, Salisbury, Pa., died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at the Meyersdale (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1918, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Leattie (Hoover) Stein. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Galen R. Mason, on Dec. 13, 1998; two sons, Eugene and Mansel; two brothers, Roy and Sylvan Stein; and one sister, Ruth Eisentrout.
She was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Bradley L. Mason, Meyersdale; one daughter, Loretta F. Paul, Salisbury; one brother, Frank Stein, Grantsville; four sisters, Marguerite Deal, Manassas, Va., Verna Twombly, Addison, Pa., Wilda Hollada, Fort Hill, Pa., and Shirley Brinegar, Grantsville; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. A service was conducted at the Maranatha Assembly of God on Sunday, June 27, with the Rev. Joseph Snodgrass officiating. Interment was in the Salisbury Cemetery.
JOSEPH W. McGREEVY
Joseph W. McGreevy, 80, Frostburg, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at his home.
Born Nov. 16, 1918, in Piedmont, W.Va., he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Eva (LaRue) McGreevy. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lois Schwanibart, and three brothers, Harold, Robert, and James McGreevy.
He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 33 years of service as a branch manager and sales agent, and was formerly employed at the Celanese Fibers Corporation. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps fighter pilot during World War II.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frostburg; Farrady Post 24 American Legion; the Frostburg Elks Lodge 470; and the Cumberland Composite Unit of the Civil Air Patrol, where he held the rank of major, and formerly served as commander.
In 1984 he was inducted into the Maryland Boxing Hall of Fame. In 1937-38 he was the South Atlantic Featherweight champion. In 1942 he won the Randolph Field Championship Lightweight and won the Regional Golden Gloves in San Antonio. He twice fought at the national level.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Ann McKenzie, Grantsville, and Cristine Fazenbaker, Winchester, Va.; three sons, Joseph N. McGreevy, Front Royal, Va., Terry Randall McGreevy, Ormand Beach, Fla., and Jeffry Brian McGreevy, Winchester; two brothers, Stuart McGreevy, Piedmont, and John Russell McGreevy, Manassas, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 29, with the Rev. Fr. William Moody as celebrant.
Interment was in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Military honors were accorded by Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
RAY MILLER
Ray Miller, 83, McHenry, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his home.
Born April 27, 1916, in Hamilton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Howard M. and Minnie Mae (Broadwater) Miller.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Accident. He was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 11, Oakland, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired New Projects Inspector for the Maryland State Highway Administration, and had also been employed by Vetter Brothers Lime Quarry.
Survivors include his wife, D. Blanche (Wolfe) Miller; two sons, Arnold Miller, Huntington, W.Va., and Paul C. Miller, Carbondale, Colo.; one brother, Glenn Miller, Northport, Ala.; and two grandsons.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry. A service was conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, June 30, with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
