JOSEPH M. GLASS
MOUNT SAVAGE -- The children of Joseph M. Glass wish to honor his life, which was lost on March 17, 2001. Joe grew up in Barrelville, where he shared his life with his late parents Luther and Erma (Johns) Glass, and his surviving sister, Sissy, and brothers, Sonny, Hut and Jim.
Joe will be remembered as a kind and compassionate father and friend, and a legend in baseball. Joe was the president of the first graduating class of Mount Savage High School. In 1958, he married
Nancy (Deffenbaugh) Glass.
He retired after 32 years of service from P.P.G. In retirement, Joe enjoyed Thursday card games with his buddies, daily conversations and mall walking with friends, as well as gardening, dancing and fishing at the cabin.
Joe's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren, Madison, Mikey and Caleb...the angels of his world.

The family will receive friends at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. followed by a 9 p.m. celebration of memories of the life of Joe Glass.
A private interment will be held in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, at a later date.

JAMES G. NAUGHTON JR.
WESTERNPORT -- James Gibbons Naughton Jr., 69, of 84 Main St., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Nov. 14, 1931, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late James G. Naughton Sr. and Nina E. (Legge) Naughton. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelley Lynn McDowell in 1986.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Rose Marie (Taylor) Naughton. He was also the proud father of six children, Nina Ann Clark and her husband Chuck of Westernport, James Joseph Naughton and his wife Carol of Keyser, Diane Marie McDowell and husband Terry of Westernport, Michael David Naughton and wife Lisa of Charlotte, N.C., Pamela Sue Lowe and her husband Tim of Annapolis and Lisa Annette Belland and her husband Bruce of High Point, N.C.; five wonderful grandchildren, Sarah Courrier, Bryan McDowell, Jason Clark, Ryan Naughton and Brandon Naughton; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Courrier.
Mr. Naughton was a 1949 graduate of Piedmont High School. He attended Catherman's Business School and also completed courses through the International Correspondence School and the Bible Correspondence School. He proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict as a supply Sergeant with Headquarters Company, 2nd Engineers, 2nd Infantry Division.
He was retired from Westvaco Corp., after 19 years of service. He was also employed by HP Stores, Inc., as the manager of their Keyser store and worked with G.C. Murphy Company.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 155, Westernport, and a member of the Luke Local #676. He was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and on the Bereavement Committee.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, on Tuesday, March 20 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Adam Parker officiating.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the Mass. There will be no viewing.
At Mr. Naughton's request, his body was cremated. The Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of the arrangements.
Interment will immediately follow the service at Philos Cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Home Care, St. Peter's Catholic Church and School or to the donor's favorite charity.
Jim will be remembered for his love of God and family. He had a quick wit and was a kind and loving man. He deeply touched all those who were blessed to know him. Those who are left behind to press on will miss him immensely.
LEROY W. BURKETT
HYNDMAN, Pa. -- Leroy Warren Burkett, 88, of Mill Street, Hyndman, died March 16, 2001, at Prince George's County General Hospital, Cheverly, Md.
Born on May 24, 1912, in Bedford County, he was the son of Simon and Bertha (Gardner) Burkett.
He is survived by his children, Donald L. and wife Mary (Franks), Mt. Rainier, Md., Charles "Chuck" W. and wife Cheryl (Starkey), and Lois J. Weaverling and husband Ray H. "Bunny", all of Hyndman; 10 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Catherine Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Gladys (Baker) Burkett in 1978; two brothers; and one sister. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Burkett was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hyndman. He retired from the Celanese Corp., where he worked in the acid mixing department. He was a member of the Kennells Mill Sportsman's Club and a social member of the former Oscar Jordan Post VFW, Hyndman.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Sunday, March 18 from 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, March 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and for one hour prior to the funeral services.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate officiating.
Interment will be Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.
Mr. Burkett's grandchildren will be serve as pallbearers.
MILDRED M. SKIPPER
OAKLAND -- Mildred M. Skipper, 76, of Broadford Road, Oakland, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on Aug. 25, 1924, in Thayerville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph M. and Grace M. (Bowman) Romesburg. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lawrence E. (Chub) Skipper in 1999; one son, Robert E. Skipper; three brothers, Ralph M. Romesburg Jr., Richard W. Romesburg and Darvin D. Romesburg; one grandson, Robbie Skipper; and one great-grandson, Brady Sisler (infant).
She attended the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, McHenry.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly A. Sisler and husband John, Oakland, Kimberly O'Brien and husband Ron, Swanton; two sisters, Betty J. Reckart, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., Barbara A. Uphold, Oakland; four grandchildren, Tim "Bear" Sisler, Danny O'Brien, Jason Skipper and Lori Hardman; three great-grandsons, T.J. Sisler, Chase Sisler and Brytan Parrish.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, McHenry, Monday, March 19, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Friends may call one hour to the service.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, McHenry.

ETHEL C. MILTENBERGER
CUMBERLAND -- Ethel Christine (Clark) Miltenberger, 87, of Cumberland, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Jan. 19, 1913, in Dunbar, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Watson and Christine Agnes (Bowen) Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Miltenberger; two daughters, Carolyn Miltenberger and Helene Miltenberger.
Mrs. Miltenberger was raised in Westernport. She was a graduate of Bruce High School and Catherman's Business School.
She was a member of the Seven Dolars of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She had previously been a member of the Christian Mothers and the Bedford Road Homemakers.
Survivors include her son, Philip Miltenberger, with whom she resided; and one brother, Donald Clark, Westernport.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jerome Dunn, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
