JOHN H. O'ROURKE
GRAHAMTOWN -- John H. "Gunner" O'Rourke, 71, of 87 Armstrong St., Grahamtown, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John and Eleanor (Festerman) O'Rourke. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn O'Rourke.
John was retired from the MD Department of Juvenile Services and formerly was greens keeper at Maplehurst Country Club. He was governor of Frostburg Moose Lodge #348, member of Mountaineer Alumni Football Club, Manager and Coach of the Hot Stove League, Coached JV baseball at Beall High School and a volunteer with the Beall High Football team.
Surviving are one brother, Kenneth O'Rourke and wife Darlene, Frostburg; one sister, Patricia Williams and husband Lowell, Moorefield, W.Va.; one nephew, Kent O'Rourke; two nieces, Karen Ours and Beverly See; and 10 grand nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Moose Lodge #348 will hold a memorial service at 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Francis Scarcelli, Robert Wolford, Mike O'Rourke, Ronald Rice, William Williams and Roy DeVore Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Starkey, George Hughes and Joseph Scarpelli.

THELMA M. TWIGG
CUMBERLAND -- Friends will be received for Thelma Martha Twigg at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
CHARLOTTE M. WALLEN
CUMBERLAND -- Charlotte Matilda Wallen, 82, of 123 Pennsylvania Ave., Cumberland, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 21, 1918, in Balboa, Calif., she was the daughter of the late George Meade Reider and Nora Cecil (McHenry) Reider. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Wallen in 1982.
Mrs. Wallen was retired from the S & H Greenstamps Store, Hollywood, Fla. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Home League of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie H. Howell, Cumberland, with whom she resided, and Linda A. McCaghren, Hollywood,; a son, Arthur Floyd Reider II, Hollywood; two brothers, Fred Reider, Los Angles, and Dick Reider, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Helen Reider, Oakland, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Wallen's request, she was cremated.
A memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
JAMES K. WILLIAMS
GILMORE -- James Kenneth "Bud" Williams, formerly of Gilmore, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Carmel Hills Retirement Community in Charlotte, N.C.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home in Lonaconing. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home at 10 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Guynn Williams in 1981.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jenny Bowser of Frostburg; three daughters, Salle Sanders of Charlotte, Peggy Peterson of Miami, Fla., and Betsy Reichert of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Those who wish to honor his memory may do so by directing a memorial to Care Center Resident Activity Fund, Carmel Hills Retirement Community, 2801 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
BESSIE V. RAINES
FLINTSTONE -- Bessie Viola Raines, 90, formerly of Pleasant Valley Road, Flintstone, and residing at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Memorial Hospital's Special Care Unit.
Born on Sept. 11, 1910, in Everett, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Hardman and Alice Arentha (Mann) Hardman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Raines on Dec. 2, 1973; and a grandson, Mitch Twigg in 1996.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Raines was a member of Prosperity United Methodist Church, and the Pleasant Valley Homemakers Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice Twigg-Kane and husband Ted, Flintstone, Linda Clingerman and husband Reed, Flintstone, and Shelva Dean Ott and husband Edward, Clearville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Sharon Ware and husband Tim, Flintstone, Neal Cessna and wife Lisa, Clearville, Rena Turner and husband Sam, Clear Springs, Amanda Henry and husband Warren, Williamsport, and Calvin Ott, Clearville; six great-grandchildren, Angela Ware, Keyser, W.Va., Heather Twigg, Tomball, Texas, Chad and Jana Cessna, Clearville, Bradley and Brett Turner, Clear Springs; and two great-grandsons, Matthew and Andrew, Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Raines will be her grandsons, Tim Ware, Neal Cessna, Calvin Ott, Sam Turner, Warren Henry and Chad Cessna.

RALPH L. JONES
CUMBERLAND -- Ralph Louis Jones, 73, of Cumberland, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Nov. 31, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James Edward and Opal (Freedman) Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Jones II; and two sisters, Sarah Louise Jones and Elfreda Jones.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Jones was retired from the Cumberland Cloak and Suit Store, where he had been a shipping clerk. He was a member of the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, where he had been a trustee. Mr. Jones also belonged to the Fulton Myers Post 153, American Legion and the 40 & 8.
Survivors include his wife, Molly Katherine (Turner) Jones; one son, Louis A. "Tony" Jones, Cumberland; three brothers, Roger Jones, Leon Jones and Calvin Jones, all of Cumberland; and one sister, Jean Washington, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A committal service will be held in the Chapel at MSVC-Rocky Gap on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.
Interment will follow with military honors accorded by the local combined veterans honor guard.
