ALMA C. ALBRIGHT
PIEDMONT, W.Va. -- Alma Christine Albright, 91, formerly of 127 E. Hampshire St., Piedmont, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.
Born in Romney on July 1, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Maude Elizabeth (Starnes) Carder. She also was preceded in death by her husband, S. Leslie Albright, in 1970; and three brothers, Calvin Carder, and twins, Edgar and Edward Carder.
Mrs. Albright was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont. She was a former employee of the Celanese Fibers Corp., and was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Lee Tichnell and husband Harold of Piedmont; one brother, Eston Carder of Romney; two sisters, Allene Carpenter, Pittsburgh, and Elizabeth Perry, Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Linda L. Butler and husband Charles S., Piedmont, David H. Tichnell and wife Melissa A., Keyser, and Diana L. Wahl and husband Irvin E., Eatontown, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Charles S. Butler III, of Fort Sill, Okla., and Kristin L. Butler, Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

CUMBERLAND -- Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel Christine (Clark) Miltenberger, 88, of Cumberland, who died March 16, 2001, will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Dunn, OFM, Cap., will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Prior to raising her family, Mrs. Miltenberger had worked for five years at the Celanese Corp.

CUMBERLAND -- Friends will be received for Thelma Martha Twigg at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

GRAHAMTOWN -- John H. "Gunner" O'Rourke, 71, of 87 Armstrong St., Grahamtown, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
JOHN F. ROSS
SHAFT -- John Frederick "Fred" Ross, 87, formerly of Shaft, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. He had been a patient at Frostburg Village Nursing Home since 1992.
Born May 17, 1913, at Lonaconing, he was a son of the late John E. Ross and Laura (Beeman) Ross. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Martha (Frost) Ross, on April 3, 1999; and one sister, Mary Blubaugh.
Mr. Ross was a member of the Midlothian Assembly of God Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a former employee of the Maryland State Highway Administration for more than 30 years.
Surviving are two sons, Samuel Edward Ross and Willard Lee Ross, both of Cumberland; three daughters, Catherine Anna Markle, Biglerville, Pa., Linda Mae Robertson, Frostburg, and Esther Kay Ross, Pinto; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Ross, Shaft; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-Mckenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, LaVale.

C. WILLIAM MCDERMOTT JR.
STAMFORD, Conn. -- C. William McDermott Jr., 77, of Stamford, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Stamford Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1924, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late C. William and Elesta W. Growden McDermott Sr.
Mr. McDermott was a retired human resources manager having been employed by the Olin Corp., and CBS TV, and most recently at the CETA Corp. He was a graduate of Fordham University and held an MBA degree from New York University. Mr. McDermott was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise (Coyle) McDermott, Stamford; two daughters, Olivia M. Faford, Trumbell, and Angela C. McDermott, Stamford; three sons, W. George McDermott, Monroe, and Stephen and J. Francis McDermott, both of Stamford; two sisters, Jane Crippen, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Sara G. Rennie, Cumberland; and four grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlin Faford and Shannon and Colleen McDermott. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Doris E. McMahon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford, on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, 14205 Pleasant Valley Road NE, Flintstone, Md.

SHIRLEY R. LINDSEY
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Shirley R. Lindsey, 69, of 1085 Carolina Ave., Keyser, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on Dec. 29, 1931, in McDowell County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Pierce Franklin and Grace Jane (Stone) McPeake. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Lindsey, on Jan. 2, 1970.
Mrs. Lindsey was retired as a supervisor with 20 years service with Microdyne Corp. in Cumberland, Md. She was a 1949 graduate of Welch High School, Welch, W.Va.
Surviving are one son, Robert F. Lindsey and wife Patty, Keyser; one daughter, Jackie K. Jordan and husband Ed, Keyser; three brothers, Gerald McPeake and wife Carolina, Georgetown, Del., Richard McPeake and wife Chessie, Pineville, W.Va., and Eugene McPeake, Shady Spring, W.Va.; one sister, Faye Michael and husband Bud, Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jodi M. Lawrence and husband Herbie, and Jamie Jordan, all of Keyser; and one great-grandson, Jordan Tyler Lawrence.
