ANNA M. HARDY
WILEY FORD, W.Va. -- Anna Marie (Smith) Hardy, 66, of Wiley Ford, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Home, Frostburg, Md.
Born on July 20, 1934, at home in Clarysville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Thomas G. Smith Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (House) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Hardy; two brothers, Thomas G. Smith Jr. and Harold Eugene Smith; and one infant grandson, James R. Swann.
Mrs. Hardy was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are one daughter, Debora Swann and husband Jim, Westernport, Md.; two sons, David Hardy and Jamie Blom, Wiley Ford, Gene Hardy and Kristine Fishell, Short Gap; one brother, James W. "Bill" Smith and wife Darlene, Cumberland; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ritchie, Cumberland, Nadine Smith, McSherrystown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Denise Kellogg and husband Philip and Krista Hardy, all of Cumberland, Kateasta Hardy and Kalen Hardy, both of Short Gap, Brandy Swann and Thomas C. Swann, both of Westernport; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Kellogg and Bryan Uhl; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, Md.
GLORIA J. SMULLEN
SALISBURY -- Gloria Jean "Sis" Smullen, 50, of Salisbury, died Feb. 25, 2001, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Earl Beeman, Lonaconing, and the late Donna Airhart Beeman.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Smullen; one daughter; one son; two stepchildren; four granddaughters; one grandson; one nephew; and a twin brother, Fred Beeman, all of Salisbury.
Funeral services were held in Salisbury.
MARY K. HARMISON
STEPHENS CITY, Va. -- Mary Kathryn Heiskell Harmison, 71, of Stephens City, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her residence following a long and valiant battle with heart disease.
Mrs. Harmison was born on Nov. 25, 1929, in Paw Paw, W.Va., the daughter of the late Melvin and Antoinette Lamberth Heiskell. A resident of Stephens City since 1985, she retired from teaching in 1984, after 19 years in the Lexington, Va., school system as an elementary school teacher. In addition, she held similar teaching positions in Williamsburg, Va.. and Berryville, Va. She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes. She was a member of the National Education Association and Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. She devoted much of her life working behind the scenes in support of football programs coached by her husband. She was a graduate of Ridgeley High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Shepherd College.
Mrs. Harmison married
Richard R. "Dick" Harmison on June 21, 1951, in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving with her husband of Stephens City, are one daughter, Deborah Byrne of Norfolk, Va.; one son, Mark C. Harmison of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday at 2 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland, Md., on Friday at 11 a.m.

EVELYN M. HESS
CUMBERLAND -- Evelyn May Hess, 85, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Old Towne Manor Apts., died Monday, March 19, 2001, at the nursing home.
Born on March 11, 1916, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Chaney) Clingerman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Hess; six brothers; one sister; and one son, Gene Hess. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Hess was formerly employed as a nurse's aid at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and McKinley Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her son, Harry "Vic" Hess and wife Nancy, Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Janet Hess, Cresaptown; three grandchildren, Denise Hess, Ellicott City, Judy Hess, Ellicott City, and Steve Hess, Cresaptown; and one great-granddaughter, Deidre Hess.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. McKinley Chapter #12 O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark C. Dill officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
SHEILA J. HETRICK
OAKLAND -- Sheila Joyce Hetrick, 54, of Oakland, died on Monday, March 19, 2001, at Cuppett and Weeks Nursing Home in Oakland.
She was born in Oakland, on Aug. 18, 1946, and was a daughter of Dewey Mahoney and Hazel (Ream) Mahoney of Sarasota, Fla.
She was a devoted wife and mother, a life long member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, where she was active in the Women's Fellowship, and was a member and past president of the Mountain Laurel Garden Club. At one time, Mrs. Hetrick was the owner and operator of Herbal Treasurers, a small craft and herb shop in Oakland.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, John Hetrick; two sons, J. Dana Hetrick and his fiancee Anita Glenn of Salisbury, and Todd C. Hedrick at home; two brothers, David Mahoney and John Mahoney; and two sisters, Debbie Eskew and Bonnie Potts, all of Sarasota, Fla.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the church one half hour prior to services.

ANGELA I. FORD
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Angela Irene Ford, 80, died March 1, 2001, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville.
She was born in Scotland, and raised in England, and came with her husband to the USA in 1948, settling in Cumberland, Md.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Ford; one son, Laurence Wayne Ford; and two grandsons, Dylan Spencer and Allen Thomas. A second son, Tracy Stuart Ford, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ford is buried in St. Augustine, with her husband, where they lived for 12 years.
