ZELLA E. HYMES
CUMBERLAND -- Zella E. (Collins) Hymes, 96, formerly of 515 Fort Ave., Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Allegany County Nursing Home, where she had been residing.
Born on Sept. 22, 1904, in Artemas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lawson Collins and Frances (Garland) Collins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William M. Hymes Sr.; and a son, William M. Hymes Jr.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Hymes was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church, where she was a very active member. She taught Sunday school in the junior department for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Hymes and wife Mona, and Pastor Robert Hymes and wife Janet, both of Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Douglas Seaman officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

CUMBERLAND -- Friends for Lillian V. Gilford will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
ANNA C. COLMER
NIKEP -- Anna Catherine Colmer, 75, of Nikep, died March 28, 2001, at her residence.
Born at Westernport, on June 3, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John Howard and Rosa (Broadwater) O'Haver. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Tommy Winn Kenney; and one brother, Jim O'Haver.
Mrs. Colmer was a Methodist by faith and was retired from the Celanese Fibers Corp. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Barton Post #189, American Legion.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Lorraine Colmer; children, Carolyn Francis Dolly, Cumberland, Edna Katherine Warnick and husband Ellis, Moscow, Walter Neat, Cumberland, Mary Lorraine Smith and husband Harry Jr., Barton, Wilda Rose Ritchie and husband Clem, Pekin; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Olin O'Haver, Pekin, and Frances O'Haver, Michigan; five sisters, Mary Speelman, Cumberland, Nellie Broadwater, Nikep, Wilma Jean Warnick, Pontiac, Mich., Doris Whiteman, Savage River, and Donna Michaels, Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Avilton.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Christ United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. Friends will be received at the church from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veteran Honor Guard.

FROSTBURG -- Leland W. Moses, 81, of South Grant Street, Frostburg, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Zion United Church of Christ on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Diane Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services.
Rather than flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Zion United Church of Christ in Leland's name, 160 East Main Street, Frostburg, MD 21532.
RALPH N. SHAMBAUGH
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. -- Ralph N. Shambaugh, 64, of Great Cacapon, died March 27, 2001, at Great Cacapon.
Born on Nov. 16, 1936, in Morgan County, he was the son of Gladys Shambaugh Sharp of Paw Paw.
Mr. Shambaugh was currently the clerk for the Morgan County Circuit Court, Berkeley Springs.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Jendrek Weller Shambaugh; one daughter, Tracy Fleece, Berkeley Springs; three sons, Ralph N. Shambaugh Jr., Jeff Shambaugh and John Shambaugh; two stepchildren, Heath Weller and Nicole Weller, all of Great Cacapon; one sister, Betty Lou King, Paw Paw; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, Friday, March 30, 2001, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Berkeley Springs High School Gymnasium, Berkeley Springs, Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating.
Interment will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.

CUMBERLAND -- Maxine S. Rosenbaum, 77, of South Pasadena, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, died Thursday at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, South Pasadena.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
ESTHER I. HURLEY
BELTSVILLE -- Esther I. Hurley died Wednesday, March 28, 2001.
She was the beloved wife of Dwight M. Hurley; mother of Mary Kathleen McDonald, Dwight David Hurley, Charles Kirkwood Hurley, John Marshall Hurley and Tracy Ann Gentilucci; sister of Emily Sonnenburg, Jeanette Moyer and Shirley Yantz. Also survived by eight grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at the Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m.

MARGARET L. KESLER
CUMBERLAND -- Margaret L. Kesler, 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at her residence.
Born on May 1, 1909, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William Long Jr. and Pearl (Farrel) Long. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Kesler Sr.; one son, John H. Kesler; and one brother, Albert Long.
Mrs. Kesler was a 1928 graduate of Allegany High School. She was retired from Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had worked in the dietary department.
Mrs. Kesler was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, James E. Kesler Jr. and wife Carol, Michael P. Kesler and wife Sue, and Thomas A. Kesler, all of Cumberland; three daughters, Sandra A. Dahl, Cumberland, Jeanne M. Chorpenning, Bel Air, and Mary E. Sisler and husband Danny, Rawlings; one daughter-in-law, Norma M. Kesler, Cresaptown; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in parish cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Kesler, Tim Kesler, Jeremy Hedrick, Jeffrey Hedrick, Jason Chorpenning, Joseph Chorpennign, Ronald J. Dahl Jr., Dale Farris and John Pratt.
