GEORGE L. MCCULLOH
FROSTBURG -- George L. McCulloh, 72, of Frostburg, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 4, 1928, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Louis S. and Ida (Youngerman) McCulloh.
Mr. McCulloh was employed at PPG and retired from Frostburg State University in maintenance and was working there part time. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army, and was a member of American Legion Farrady Post 24 and Moose Lodge 348.
Surviving are his brother, Karl McCulloh, at home; several cousins including Suzanne Wehler and her family, Frostburg; and special friend, Jean Dickey, Zihlman.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William B. Shrout Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside.

DORIS M. DREES
FINZEL -- Doris M. Drees, 73, of 338 Finzel Road, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at her residence.
Born April 10, 1927, in Pocahontas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Pearl (Baer) Baer. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis "Dolly" Dugan, in 1992; and a son, Gerald Conrad Drees, in 1994.
Mrs. Drees was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas.
Surviving are her husband, Bernard C. Drees; two sisters, Betty A. Bell, Akron, Ohio, and Janice Williams and husband Kenneth, Somerset, Pa.; one brother, David Baer and wife Lois, Akron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers for the departed will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Albert J. Anselmi as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Hospice of Garrett County, 69 Wolf Acres Drive, Oakland, MD 21550.
MAUDE L. COPELAND
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. -- Maude L. Copeland, 94, of Elk Garden, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Johns Hopkins Bay View Hospital in Baltimore.
Born June 11, 1906, at Wabash, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary A. (Davis) Green. Maude was also preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Lawrence "Jake" Copeland, who died May 2, 1999; son-in-law, Junior Martin Evans; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Copeland.
Until her retirement, Mrs. Copeland served as Postmaster for twenty-six years, retiring in June 1972. She was a lifelong member of the Elk Garden Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for thirty years. She was also in charge of raising money for the present building and the major renovation done in the 1980s. Maude traveled extensively with the National League of Postmasters and her daughter's family. She had visited all 50 states, the Holy Land, and made several trips to Europe, the most recent trip to Ireland.
Surviving is a son, Donald Copeland of Elk Garden, and a daughter, Kathryn Evans of Baltimore. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Maude was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends were received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home in Kitzmiller, Md.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Elk Garden Methodist Church with the Rev. Loren Metzner and the Rev. Brenda Shreve officiating.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
JOSEPH A. "PEACH" BLAKE
CUMBERLAND -- Joseph Aloysius "Peach" Blake, 86, of 122 Columbia Street, Cumberland, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 2, 1914, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Patrick Joseph Blake and Margaret (Burkey) Blake.
Mr. Blake was the former president of Queen City Electric Company and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 307 for 65 years. He was treasurer of the Baltimore Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association and an Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 10th Mountain Division where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and Old Rail Post No. 6025 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a dedicated, hard worker of the Cumberland Lions Club, where he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honor presented by Lions International. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Strachan) Blake; two sons, William J. Blake and wife, Jean and Carl A. Blake and wife, Ann, both of Cumberland; a daughter Elizabeth A. Blake-Dow and husband, Roger, Cumberland; two stepdaughters: Debra A. Fisher Cumberland and Tammy Lynn Fisher, Frostburg; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Bevan as celebrant.
A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, 8:30 p.m. by Deacon Frank Warner.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded by The Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

CLARENCE E. JONES
CUMBERLAND -- Clarence E. Jones, 62, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at his residence.
Born May 17, 1938, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Mary Wilson.
Mr. Jones was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former member of the Fort Hill "F" Club, member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, and a former member of the Cumberland Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn (Crites) Jones; one daughter, Jonelle Neuman and husband, Ben, Arnold; one step-daughter, Tiffany Mock and husband, David, Cumberland; one son, Kevin Jones, Hagerstown; one stepson, Rick Crites, Lake Tahoe, Calif.; one sister, Eleanore Kuhn, Cumberland; two brothers, Ralph Wilson, Georgia; George Wilson, Maryland; two grandchildren, Sarah Neuman and Hailey Mock.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA, 108 Virginia Avenue on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Milton Hipsley officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
