PAUL M. NEVY
CUMBERLAND -- Paul Martin Nevy, 65, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 12, 1935, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Nevy and Madeline (Cappelletti) Nevy.
Mr. Nevy was a former employee of the maintenance department at the Cumberland Macaroni Factory. He was a Catholic by Faith.
Surviving are one brother, John "Jack" Nevy Jr., Cumberland; two sisters, Mary Josephine "Jo" Hansrote, Cumberland; Sr. Rosemary Nevy, OSU, Louisville, Ky.; one niece, Frances Bechtol and husband, Charles, Fayetteville, N.C.; one great-nephew and one great-niece.
At Mr. Nevy's request, his body has been cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Crematorium. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 6, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue by the Rev. Milton A, Hipsley. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m.
Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
KATHERINE BRILL
KEYSER, W.Va. - Katherine S. Brill, 92, of 655 Terrace Drive, Keyser, died on Tuesday April 3, 2001, at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 8, 1908, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late William V. and Ruey M. (Orris) Stewart.
Mrs. Brill retired after 44 years as a fourth grade school teacher from the Keyser Elementary School. She was a graduate of Keyser High School and a graduate and member of the first class to receive a degree from Shepherd College.
She was a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; past worthy matron and 63-year member of the Alkire Chapter 10 OES; Ladies Oriental Shrine, Isis Court No. 1; Women of the Moose Chapter 191; Mineral County Senior Citizens and Ladies B&O Veterans.
Surviving are her sister, Waunetta "Tom" Mosser of Keyser; a nephew, Harrison Vance Mosser and wife, Lynn J. of Dayton, Ohio and a great-niece, Anna Kristine Mosser of Dayton, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary S. Eller officiating.
Interment will be in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, W.Va.
Alkire Chapter No. 10 ,O.E.S. will hold memorial services at the Funeral Home on Friday at 7 p.m.
MARY E. WHISNER
CUMBERLAND -- Mary E. Whisner, 78, of Potomac Street, Cumberland died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 11, 1922, in Aurora, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Homer and Sophia (Wotring) Lipscomb. She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Whisner, Aug. 24, 1981, and two brothers, Claude Lipscomb and Foster Lipscomb.
Mrs. Whisner was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. She was a member of Emmanuel Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Melvin Lipscomb, Cumberland; Guy Lipscomb and wife, Wilma, Prudensville, Mich.; two sisters, Bonnie Moats, Aurora, W.Va.; Ruby Long, Warren, Mich., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mildred C. Martin and Rev. Robert L. Nair officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
ESTHER V. MORRIS
CUMBERLAND -- Esther V. Morris of Cumberland died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Millegeville, Ga.
Born in Star City, W.Va., Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Morris.
Mrs. Morris was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church Cumberland, member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church Sewing Circle, Westside Crime Watch and American Legion Auxiliary Fort Cumberland Post No. 13.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Minar and husband, Gary, Millegeville, Ga.; one sister, Loretta Johns; one sister-in-law, June Smith, Lancaster, Ohio; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
MARLEY L. HOTT
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Marley Leo Hott, 69, of 16213 Log Row, Mount Savage, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 11, 1931, in Romney, he was the son of the late Benjamin C. Hott and Vallie (Polland) Hott, Romney, W.Va. He also was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Mr. Hott was formerly employed at the Tri-State Electrical Supply Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a former member of Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W, Mount Savage.
Mr. Hott is survived by his wife, Verna (Pratt) Hott; one son, Tony Hott and wife, Helen, Mount Savage; one daughter, Vera Lee Matthews and husband, Bill, Parkersburg, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Ashley Hott and Renae Matthews., two grandsons, Scott Matthews and Brett Matthews; one brother, Jerry Hott, Berryville, W.Va.; three sisters, Eva Scott, Fisher, W.Va., Alma Lear and Connie Corbin, both of Romney, W.Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at noon with Sister Joan Minella, S.S.N.D. officiating.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mount Savage. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Old Rail Post 6025 honor guard.
MARJORIE D. DENSMORE
CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Marjorie D. Densmore, 81, formerly of Frostburg and Geneva, Ohio, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.
Born Oct. 13, 1919, in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Catherine M. (Long) Layman. Mrs. Densmore also was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. "Ike" Densmore who passed away in 1985; three brothers, George, Raymond and Paul Layman and one sister, Virginia Dawson.
Mrs. Densmore retired as an assembler at A.T.C., Geneva, and formerly was employed in the bobbing department at the Celanese Fibers Corp.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Zephyrhills, Fla.; Farrady Unit 24 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Frostburg; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2243 Ladies Auxiliary, Geneva Ohio; and long-time member of the Ashtabula Women's Bowling Association. She also was an avid golfer.
Mrs. Densmore is survived by one son, George Lesley Pratt; Geneva, Ohio; two grandsons, Arthur Johnson, Geneva and Michael Waller, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Cortney Johnson; two sisters, Mildred Minnick, New Castle, Del., and Rosalie Drew, Frostburg; one brother, Charles Layman, Baltimore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitations also were held on Wednesday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, Geneva.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
