CUMBERLAND -- John Andrew Muir Sr., 66, of Cumberland, went to meet his Creator on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 21, 1935, in Nikep, he was the son of the late Franklin Henry and Charlotte Audrey (Muir) Getson. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Dennis Lee Muir; one sister, June JoAnn Preston; and one brother, Frank Henry Getson.
Mr. Muir was a test driver for Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. He was a member of Oldtown V.F.W. He was also a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Vietnam.
Surviving are his wife, Frances (Armstrong) Muir; one daughter, Tracey Diane Kirchner and husband Chris, Inwood, W.Va.; four sons, John Andrew Muir Jr. and wife Chong, Sonora, Ky., David Eugene Muir and wife Pauline, Cumberland, Robert Wayne Muir and wife Virginia, Baltimore, and Eric Scott Muir and wife Tammy, Corriganville; four sisters, Mary I. Faidley, Finzel, Leah E. Getson, New Creek, W.Va., Frances Linaburg and husband James, Short Gap, W.Va., and Bonnie J. Buskirk and husband Roger, Lonaconing; five grandchildren, Danny Allen Muir, Sonora, Ky., Michael O'Brien Muir, Ginsheim, Germany, Eric Scott Muir Jr. and Christian Allen Muir, both of Corriganville, Jacob Nathaniel Kirchner, Inwood; two step-grandsons, Jeremiah Alberry and Justin Alberry, both of Baltimore; two step-granddaughters, Amy McDonald, Cumberland, Ashley Wilson, Corriganville; two step-great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Frances Fuller.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Glass officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the 372nd M.P. Company, Cresaptown.
CHERYL E. SWEITZER
GRANTSVILLE -- Cheryl Elaine (Fisher) Sweitzer, 46, of 47 Beechwood Lane, Grantsville, died suddenly on April 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on Feb. 28, 1955, in Grafton, W.Va., she was a daughter of Melvin and Ruby Jane (Castle) Fisher, Elizabethtown, Pa.
Mrs. Sweitzer was a substitute teacher with the Garrett County Board of Education and also volunteered with the handicapped at the Lodge at Sawmill Hollow. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Service Management from Indiana University of Pa. She was secretary of Asher Glade Farmers and Wildlife Association and member of the Garrett County Horsemen's Association.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Ervin J. Sweitzer; one son, Benjamin Sweitzer, at home; one brother, Vernon Fisher, Ellicott City; and one sister, Angela Berlin, Sparta, N.J.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Durst officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Lodge at Sawmill Hollow, Respite Facility for the handicapped.
WILLIAM E. LEWIS
ARTEMAS, Pa. -- William Earl Lewis, 77, of Artemas, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on March 4, 1924, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph Lewis and Mary E. (Keener) Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a member of Operating Engineers Local #37. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Clement Lodge #524 F & AM, Everett.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Karns) Lewis; two sons, Mark K. Smith and wife Linda Brown-Smith and Terrance R. Smith and wife Sherry, both of Everett; two daughters, Cheryl R. Smith and husband Paul, Hagerstown, Md., and Brenda R. Giffin, Perkasie; four sisters, Ruth Funk, Cresaptown, Helen "Sue" Tuley and husband Charles, Chestertown, Md., Josephine Bare, Columbia, Md., and Pearl Armbruster, Chestertown; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Jones and the Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Christian Cemetery.
THELMA H. ALLEE
CUMBERLAND -- Thelma Harriet Allee, 79, of Bedford Road, Cumberland, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Oct. 20, 1921, in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Morral Sr. and Lona (Ketterman) Morral. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Wade K., Roy, Marvin Jr. and Wilbur Morral; and a sister, Marian Vance.
Mrs. Allee was a homemaker and an avid flower gardner. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and McKinley Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, William Thomas Allee; four daughters, Carole R. Allee, Cumberland, T.H. Lynn Marshall and husband Brady, Manassas, Va., Diana A. Beverlin and husband Alan, Cumberland, Barbara V. Millholland and husband George, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Virgil Morral and wife Dorothy and Cain Morral, both of Flintstone; three sisters, Georgia Struckman, Frostburg, Ruth Crabtree and Helen Long and husband Paul, all of Cumberland; seven grandchildren, John B. Marshall, Elizabeth A. Zadik, Victoria D. Yates and Sally Hoffman, all of Manassas, Alison L., George R. and Melanie Millholland, all of Colorado Springs; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha L. Marshall, Michelle D. Yates, William J. Zadik, James V. Yates Jr., Rachel K. Zadik, Emily M. Yates, Lauren A. Hoffman and Jessica T. Zadik, all of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be conducted with interment in Sunset Memorial Park.

The McKinley Chapter #12, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

HARRY S. WEDDLE
FROSTBURG -- Harry S. "Buck" Weddle, 83, of 50 Centennial St., Frostburg, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Dec. 26, 1917, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Ira and Grace (Fisher) Weddle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (McGuire) Weddle on April 9, 1986; one sister, Florence Long; three brothers, John, Joseph and Guy Weddle; one son-in-law, Ray Leatherman Sr.; and one granddaughter, Kayla Leatherman.
Mr. Weddle retired in 1976 after 35 years of service as lead lineman for Potomac Edison. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the public relations director of the Thunder Valley Raceway, Antioch, W.Va., and enjoyed the outdoors being and avid hunter, fisherman and boater.
Buck was dearly loved by his family, relatives and friends, and will be missed by all that knew him, he never met a stranger.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann L. Leatherman, Antioch, W.Va., and Susan R. Malloy and husband Brian, Corriganville; four sons, Harry S. Weddle Jr. and wife Sandy, Bellwood, Pa., James J. Weddle Sr. and wife Georgia, Hagerstown, Michael R. Weddle and wife Helen, Frostburg, Christopher E. Weddle and wife Carol, Frostburg; one brother, Lee Weddle, Frederick; three sisters, Barbara Norwood and Lena Fogle, both of Frederick, and Mary Waltz, Richmond, Va.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. William Moody officiating.
Interment will be in St. Michael's parish cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by Farrady Post #24 American Legion combined honor guard.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the Western Maryland Health System.
