EDWARD W. GRIMM
HANOVER, Pa. -- Edward William Grimm, 70, of 132 Pleasant St., Hanover, Pa., formerly of Barton, Md., died Friday, June 1, 2001, at his residence.
Born in Westernport, on Oct. 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward Martin and Nora (Trenum) Grimm. Two half sisters, Hazel Bosley, and Gwendola Johnson; one half brother, Dewey Duckworth also preceded him in death.
Mr. Grimm served with the United States Navy for 7 1/2 years, and was retired from Black & Decker of Hampstead.
Surviving is his wife, Florence (Runk) Grimm of Hanover; one son, Charles E. Grimm of Granite City, Ill.; two daughters, Mary E. Cutter and husband Dennis of Leesburg, Fla., and Cheryl "Susie" Riley and husband Gary of Barton; one step son, Brian Rebert and wife Sandi of Farmington, Maine; grandchildren, Christopher Grimm, Dennis Cutter, Jennifer Davey, and Edward William Grimm; step grandchildren, Elizabeth Rebert, Rebekah Rebert, and Jonathan Rebert; two half brothers, Harry Duckworth of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, and Perry Duckworth of Westernport.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Chapel on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Rebert officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
RUTH H. SPEAR
ACCIDENT -- Ruth Helen Spear, 84, of 561 Spear Road, Accident, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Ortiz Personal Care Home, Oakland.
Born on Nov.13, 1916 at Confluence, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Period B. (Steele) Spear.
Ms. Spear was a homemaker and attended Accident Grace Brethren Church.
Survivors include one son, William H. Spear, Accident; and one sister, Rachel Shuttleworth, Accident.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident (McHenry).
Services will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Mohler officiating.
Interment will be in the Addison Cemetery, Addison, Pa.
Contributions may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County or Grace Brethren Church.
EDWARD L. STAGGS
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Edward L. Staggs, 94, of Rt. 1, Box 173, Keyser, died Friday, June 1, 2001 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born on April 14, 1907 at Cabin Run, he was a son of the late Michael L. and Mary Elizabeth (Bane) Staggs. He also was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Daniel, Albert, Fred, and Vause Staggs; and two sisters, Eliza Borror and Alma Umstot.
Mr. Staggs was the retired owner and operator of the Atlantic-ARCO Service Stations in Keyser. Mr. Staggs operated services stations at two different locations, S. Main Street and S. Mineral Street. He also was formerly employed with the B&O Railroad and was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Beulah M. (Alt) Staggs; two daughters, Judith Ann Paul and husband Earl Jr., Cresaptown, Md. and Jeanette F. Mace and husband Tim, Ridgeley; one son, Michael L. Staggs and wife Tammy, Winchester, Va.; three grandchildren, Amy R. McKenzie and husband Jeff, Frostburg, Earl R. Paul III, Cresaptown, and Allen C. Paul, Cresaptown; one great-grandson, Christopher S. McKenzie, Frostburg; also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Blair officiating.
Interment will be in the Cabin Run Cemetery, Keyser.
DWIGHT D. BANE
ROMNEY, W.Va. -- Dwight D. Bane, 75, of 485 West Birch Lane, Romney, formerly of Burlington, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on July 18, 1925 at Burlington, he was a son of the late Rosser P. and Annis D. (Likins) Bane. Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances (Haggerty) Bane on April 10, 1981, and by a brother, Eldred Bane.
Mr. Bane was a retired crane operator with the B&O Railroad with 18 years of service. He also formerly owned and operated Banes Auto Sales in Burlington. He was a member of the Lone Star United Methodist Church, Burlington, as well as Davis Lodge 51, A.F. and A.M., Keyser, and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Wheeling.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Mary L. (Roomsburg) Bane; one daughter, Darlene Meese and husband Butch, Manassas, Va.; one step daughter, Linda L. Corbin and husband J.D., Romney; one step son, Stephen E. Richman and wife Judy, Augusta; one sister, Zelda Welch, Burlington; two granddaughters; five step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
MARY J. SMITH
TRANSFER, Pa. -- Mary J. Smith, 80, of 58 Bassick Lane, Transfer, died Saturday June 2, 2001, at her residence.
Born on May 19, 1921, at Artemas, she was a daughter of the late Walter Ralph and Clara Elizabeth (Roberts) Smith. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Smith on Nov. 22, 1999; one son, Charles L. Smith; one granddaughter, Laura Smith; two brothers, Grant and Donald Smith; and one sister, Doris Irene Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a former employee of the "Blue Sky Inn" and the Reynolds VFW Post 7599. She was a member of the Greencrest Community Park Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Reynolds Post 7599, VFW.
Surviving are five sons, Robert A. Smith and wife Suzanne, Greenville, Dwaine J. Smith and wife Bonnie, Transfer, Ronald B. Smith, Transfer, Daryl L. Smith, Greenville, and Michael T. Smith and wife Pat, Greenville; three daughters, Evelyn Craig and husband Wendell, Denham Springs, La., Kathy Shoults and husband Edward, Payson, Ariz., and Elaine Jacobson and husband Kevin, Transfer; four brothers, Wayne Smith, Fort Loudon, Richard Smith, Clearville, George Smith, Flintstone, Md., and Calvin Smith, Artemas; four sisters, Pauline Mearkle, Clearville, Betty Rice, Clearville, Norma Jean Mabry, Greenville, and Edna Fisher, Harrisonville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Fairview Christian Church, Inglesmith, on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Inglesmith.

ALBERT F. "AB" KROUSE JR.
GRANTSVILLE -- Albert F. "Ab" Krouse Jr., 69 of Grantsville, formerly of Richland, died June 3, 2001, in Grantsville.
Born Jan. 14, 1932, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Gladys (Miller) Krouse Sr.
He was retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. and he is a member of the Salisbury United Church of Christ.
Mr. Krouse is survived by a special friend, Fern Tedrow, Salisbury; aunts, Elizabeth Welfley, Salisbury and Ruth Miller, Somerset; and numerous cousins.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., Downtown, 514 Somerset St., Johnstown, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday.
Interment will be in Richland Cemetery.
