KENNETH N. ROBINETTE
EVERETT, Pa. -- Kenneth N. Robinette, 79, of 118 Masters Ave., Everett, and formerly of Rainsburg, died at 12:03 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2001, at UPMC Bedford Memorial.
Born in Clearville, Bedford County, on Tuesday, June 7, 1921, he was the son of the late Owen and Esther (Johnson) Robinette. He worked in a saw miller and as a farmhand.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Frances wife of Gerald Ruppenkamp, Cresaptown, Md.; brother, Leo Robinette husband of Myrtle, Cumberland, Md.; sister-in-law, Rosannah Robinette, Cresaptown; sister-in-law, Mary Robinette, Manns Choice; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, Harold and Donald.
Friends are invited to call at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be by the Louis Geisel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Fred Howsare officiating.
Interment will be in Chaneysville United Methodist Cemetery.
BETTY J. RINKER
ROMNEY, W.Va. -- Betty Jean Rinker, 72, of Romney, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at her residence.
Born on Jan. 31, 1929, in Wardensville, she was the daughter of the late G. Duncan Hott and Martha Bowman Hott. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Rinker was a homemaker and a member of Hott's Chapel United Methodist Church, Kirby. On March 3, 1947, in Cumberland, Md., she married
Loren Rinker.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert W. Rinker of Burke, Va., and Gregory W. Rinker of Kirby; one daughter, Lorna J. Marvin of Centerville, Va.; three sisters, Audry Coffman of Charleston, Gladys Hott of Romney, and Elaine Welton of Moorefield; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 24, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Fout officiating.
Burial will be in the Hott's Chapel Cemetery, Kirby.

HANNAH M. LAYMAN
FROSTBURG -- Hannah M. Layman, 88, of Frostburg, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on March 8, 1913, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late James and Veenie (Edwards) McGee.
Mrs. Layman was employed by Ford's Drug Store and retired from Deist Pharmacy.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Layman, Cumberland, and James Layman, Frostburg; four grandchildren, Jason Layman, Justin Layman, Brian Miller and Carla Standridge; and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Shirley Page, Lonaconing, and a special nephew, J.A. Rowan Jr., Lonaconing. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jason Layman, Justin Layman, J.A. Rowan Jr., Brian Miller, James Shaffer and Andrew Green.
E. BERNADINE HERON
ROCKVILLE -- E. Bernadine (Lindeman) Heron, 93, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the National Lutheran Home in Rockville.
Born on April 18, 1908, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late August and Annie F. (Bennett) Lindeman.
The family moved to Girard, Ohio, in 1911. Following her graduation from high school in 1926, Bernadine was first employed by the Ohio Leather Company in the International Division, and then by the Firestone Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. She married
Joseph Smith on July 27, 1929. The couple divorced in 1941.
Bernadine moved back to Cumberland and lived with her paternal aunt, Hannah S. (Lindeman) Heron at 337 Virginia Avenue, South Cumberland. She was self-employed for many years using her abundant sewing abilities as a seamstress. Later, she worked in that capacity and also as a sales clerk for the Sykes Style Shop. After retraining herself in typing, shorthand, and accounting, Bernadine was employed by the Department of Social Services rising to the position of Finance Officer for Allegany County. She retired in 1977.
Bernadine delivered food for Meals on Wheels until knee surgery forced her to stop. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she served as treasurer for the Queen Esther Bible Class and for a term on the Church Council. She was a member of the Women's Sports Club, played with the marathon section of the Century Club and was Treasurer for the 500 Club.
Bernadine was proud to have close friends who shared her interests and in whose company she found much pleasure. She loved to travel and she, with her second husband, Edgar E. Heron, traveled several times to Europe, Scandinavia and Hawaii. Mr. Heron died in 1973.
Mrs. Heron was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Lindeman, Cumberland; a brother, James Gordon; twin brothers, all who died in infancy; and a nephew, John R. Lindeman in 1976.
Surviving are two nieces, Suzanne Lindeman Howell, Abingdon, whom she reared from age seven, and Jane F. Patton, McDonald, Ohio; four great-nephews, John H. Lindeman, Sewell, N.J., Thomas Lindeman, Palm Bay, Fla., Mark A. Lindeman, Campbell, Ohio, and William Chengelis, Colo.; five great-nieces, Susan Meluch, Youngstown, Ohio, Debra Moore, Campbell, Roberta Morris, Struthers, Ohio, and Cynthia Maggianetti and Jayne Zajac, both of Boardman, Ohio.
Services in celebration of Mrs. Heron's life and reunion with her Lord will be held at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark C. Dill officiating.
There will be visitation Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
She joins her husband and brother in burial at Sunset Memorial Park.
LILLIAN M. VANMETER
CUMBERLAND -- Lillian M. VanMeter, 92, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of Pennsylvania Avenue, Cumberland, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the nursing home.
Born on April 25, 1909, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Edwin V. and Lillian M. (Eackles) VanMeter. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert W. VanMeter.
Ms. VanMeter was a Night Supervisor for the C&P Telephone Company. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Church Sodality and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are one brother, Edwin D. VanMeter, Cumberland; one sister, Elizabeth V. Connelly, Ashland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
