MARY ELIZABETH (SULLIVAN) STINEBAUGH
RIVA -- Mary Elizabeth (Sullivan) Stinebaugh, 83, of Riva, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born June 1, 1917 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clary Sullivan and Virginia Mae (Wright) Sullivan.
She was married
in Nov., 1953 to Clarence Joseph Stinebaugh, who died Oct. 19, 1985.
She was the sister to the late Charles, Carroll, Joseph (killed on Iwo Jima World War II), James and John Sullivan; also to Thelma Sullivan Ziegler and Nellie Sullivan Hutchison.
She is survived by her brother Frederick Sullivan, Cumberland. "Aunt Mary" is also survived by her immediate family, Letty, Myron, John, Jillian, and Sean Wotring and Lisa, Paul, Leslie and Nicholas Borgeson of Anne Arundel County and many other nieces and nephews.
When Mrs. Stinebaugh resided in Cumberland, she worked for many years at Rosenbaum's Department Store. In her younger days Mrs. Stinebaugh enjoyed singing and dancing and sang with many bands in the Cumberland area.
In 1966 she and her husband purchased a home in Riva and she lived there for 31 years. She has been residing for the past 3 1/2 years at Kris-Leigh Assisted Living in Davidsonville.
She was a member of Cumberland Chapter 56, O.E.S., since 1960, and was a member of All Hallows' Parish, Davidsonville.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon. Cumberland Chapter 56, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, with the Rev. Edward C. Chapman officiating.

EDNA M. ELLIFRITZ
RIDGEVILLE, W.Va. -- Edna M. Ellifritz, 90, of Ridgeville, W.Va, and a former resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at the home of her son, Samuel D. Ellifritz.
Born Oct. 19, 1910 at Martinsburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Annabelle (Shade) Catlett. She also was preceded on death by her husband, Harry B. Ellifritz on July 5, 1973; two sons, William Howard and James Allen Ellifritz; one daughter, Judith Ann Reynolds; three step children, Harry B. Ellifritz Jr., George W. Ellifritz and Violet Devilbliss; two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Ellifritz, along with her late husband, owned and operated Ellifritz's Grocery at Ridgeville. She was a member of the Antioch Church of God and during her residency at Heartland of Keyser, was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are four sons, Robert H. Ellifritz and wife Faye, Clayton, N.C., Harold B. "Pete" Ellifritz and wife Betty, Antioch, Frederick W. Ellifritz, Purgitsville, and Samuel D. Ellifritz and wife Kim, Keyser; seven daughters, Juanita M. Whittaker and husband Robert, Petersburg, Betty L. Couch and husband Don, Ocala, Fla., Shelby Jean Heckert and husband Jay, Romney, Bonnie L. Jenkins and husband Ward, Keyser, Lois E. Rohrbaugh and husband David, Keyser, Mary E. Canan, Antioch, and Patsy S. High and husband Kevin, Purgitsville; three additional daughters-in-laws, Betty Jane Ellifritz, Fayetteville, N.C., Norma Ellifritz, New Creek, and Eula Ellifritz, Frostburg, Md.; two additional sons-in-laws, Dick Reynolds, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Curtis Devilbliss, Ridgeley; one sister, Elsie Wade, Kingwood; 52 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Herman L. Baliles and the Rev. Larry Shrout officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
GEORGE EDWARD NEELY
CUMBERLAND -- George Edward Neely, 61, of 115 Cumberland St., Cumberland, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1940, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Joseph Robert Neely and Angela Quinton (Carpenter) Neely. He was also preceded by a brother, William Andrew Neely.
Mr. Neely was employed at Potomac Valley Hospital, in Keyser, W.Va., as the Department Head of the Cardiology Department and was a representative for Primerica Investment Services. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Fort Hill Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn E. (Burkey) Neely, Cumberland; a son, David Alan Neely, Tuscaloosa, Ala., a daughter, Jennifer Ann Browne and husband Gregory, Frostburg; an especially close niece, Lisa Haberlein and husband Doug, Sherwood; and two nephews, William "Chip" Burkey, Baltimore, and Patrick Burkey, Hoboken, N.J, his beloved Pomeranian, Sarge; two brothers, Frederick Neely, Cumberland, John Neely and wife Susan, Dublin, Ohio; six sisters, Mary Teresa Mattingly and husband Edward, Cumberland, Alice Dixon and husband Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah, Ruth McCullough and husband Richard, El Cerrito, Calif., Florence Schade and husband Robert, Cumberland, Sister Kathleen Neely, Ursuline Missionary in Peru, Martha Neely, Winchester, Va., several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Blaine Burkey, his brother-in-law, as celebrant.
Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church Cemetery.
A wake service will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

JODY L. WHITACRE
LAVALE -- Jody Lee Whitacre, 28, of National Highway, LaVale, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Memorial Hospital Pediatric Unit.
Born on Feb. 22, 1973, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Brenda D. Whitacre, LaVale.
Jody was a member of First Church of God, Cumberland, she was a student at Friends Aware, Cumberland Covenant Day Care and Ray of Hope.
Jody's tender smile and love, touched the lives and hearts of many people. She was the founding inspiration for the Ray of Hope agency, which provides residential and respite care services to a large number of the areas disabled children and adults. Ray of Hope currently supports 14 residential homes throughout the area and provides 24 hour assisted living care.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Lester E. and Gertrude Porter, LaVale; she was surrounded by a very large and loving extended family. Jody was always blessed with many special friends and care givers.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Samuel Seletyn officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be uncles, George W. Garlitz, Lester E. Porter Jr., Danny L. Porter and Robert L. Folk.
ELVA M. DOM
CUMBERLAND -- Elva May Dom, 76, of Cumberland, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at her residence.
Born on Jan. 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Russell H. and Hulda E. (Hartsock) Barnhart. She was also preceded in death by one son, David R. Dom Jr.; and two sisters, Madeline Barnhart and Eulala Robosson.
Mrs. Dom was a homemaker and a member of the LaVale Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, David R. Dom Sr.; three daughters, Diana L. Liebau and husband George, Lusby, M. Ellen Bennett and husband Gary, Frederick, and Lisa A. Lang and husband Jeff, Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Ed, Donna, Jessica, Heather, Jesse, Christopher and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, John, Deanna and Jordan.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12 noon with Pastor Doug Strother officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Western Maryland Home Hospice.
