DORA IDA JOHNS
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Dora Ida Johns, 81, of Barrellville Road, Mount Savage, she was born in Germany on Sept. 29, 1919 and left this world on Thursday, May 9, 2001.
She was the daughter of the late Heinrich and Paula (Gerull) Lange.
She met her late husband Charles "Chick" Johns in Germany during World War II and came to the United States as his beloved wife. She left behind her loving family in Germany to be introduced to another family, who grew to know her and love her. Preceding her in death are a sister Marie Porepp; a brother Heinrich Lange; sisters-in-laws, Ada Bowers, Erma Glass, Lily Porter, Nora Spataro; and brothers-in-laws Frank Johns, and Arthur Johns.
Mrs. Johns was a member of Apostilic Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, she was retired from the state of Maryland after 25 years of service from the Spring Grove Mental Hospital, Catonsville, as a nurses aide.
Surviving is a sister, Anna Macholl of Quarnbek, Germany; a brother-in-law, Fritz Porepp of Karlsruhe, Germany; a sister-in-law, Kiatie Lange of Langen, Germany; and two special nephews Wilfred and wife Zarbine of Bremerhaben, Germany, and Peter Macholl of Quarnbels, Germany; special friends and sister-in-law, Gloria Lease and husband Lloyd of Barrellville, Md.; brother-in-law, Victor Johns and wife Lou of Ellicott City. She has surviving here special nieces and nephews whom she thought of as her children, Vickie Skidmore and husband Wayne; special Godchild April Skidmore, Dale Lease and wife Kimberly and children Ashley and Holly Lease, and Jennifer L. Knieriem, Sharon Natale and husband Michael, Scott McGann and sons Drew and Corbin. She was a special aunt to many other nieces and nephews and left behind a legacy of loved ones too numerous to name. She will be in our hearts forever and will be sorely missed by all of us. Doris, you are finally with your beloved Chick at last.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 11 a.m., Pastor James Glass will officiate.
Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Skidmore, Dale Lease, Scott McGann, Mike Natale, Kenneth Baker, and Jamie Glass.
JAMES PATSY
LAVALE -- James Patsy, 75, of LaVale, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 in Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
Born on Sept. 6, 1925 in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Nunzio and Brigida (Carrara) Lattanzio.
Mr. Patsy was Catholic by faith, he was retired from Pittsburgh Plate and Glass in the Float Department after 30 years of service, and A World War II Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge and was a Bronze Star Recipient. He was a member of the American Legion in Meyersdale, and the Haystack Mountain Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Smearman) Patsy, of 55 years; a step son David Coughenour and wife Sandy of Oldtown; grandson David Coughenour Jr., of Wilmington, Del.; two great-grandsons, Austin Coughenour and Dillon Coughenour; a sister Margaret Biezonka and husband Stan of Chicago, Ill; sisters-in-laws, Naomi Patsy of Cumberland and Mary Patsy of Berlin, Pa; three brothers-in-laws, Homer Smearman and wife Jane of Strothers, Ohio, Floyd Smearman and wife Pearl of Meyersdale, Pa., and Lloyd Smearman and wife Lois of Meyersdale, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel Father Albert J. Anselmi will officiate.
Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
BRUCE E. LANCASTER
FROSTBURG -- Bruce E. Lancaster Sr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2001.
Bruce was born in Eckhart, to the late Hillary and Nellie (Lavin) Lancaster on July 31, 1939. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Charles, Ralph, George and Robert Lancaster; and one sister, Lois (Lancaster) Pope. He is survived by one brother, James Lancaster and two sisters, Erma J. (Lancaster) Wymer, Edinburg, Va. and Mary Lou (Lancaster) Minnick, Rawlings.
He was a loving husband who is survived by his wife Marie (Reiderer) Lancaster, Frostburg; a loving father to four children, Susanne (Lancaster) Conklin and husband Wayne, Frostburg, Bruce Jr. and wife Julie, New Markent, Jon and wife Barlinda, Frostburg and Ron and wife Michele, Warfordsburg. Pa.; a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Brandon Wilhelm and wife Gina, Killeen, Texas, Cassie Conklin, Frostburg, Lisa Conklin, Spring Hill, Tenn., Ryan Lancaster, Frostburg, Zachary, Ian and Eli Lancaster, Warfordsburg, Pa.; a loving great-grandfather to Matthias Wilhelm, Killeen, Texas; numerous and very special nieces and nephews that were very close to him and all of his friends who were very special and dear to him.
Bruce was Methodist by faith and had been a member at the Eckhart Methodist Church from childhood. He was a very hardworking man who enjoyed life, his family and friends.
Bruce was an Army veteran. He was currently employed with Larkin Home Improvements, but he had previously worked for the Celanese Fibers Corp. as a pipefitter after his Army career ended.
Although most of his life he was a pipefitter by trade, he was a man who could do anything and was never too busy to help anyone who needed him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him as well as all whose lives he touched in his own way.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A. on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside.
Pallbearers will be John Dinning, Ken Roberts, Mark Wright, Randy Wright, Jack Skidmore and Wayne Skidmore.
WILLIAM EDWARD CARLILE
ROMNEY, W.Va. -- William Edward Carlile, 61, of Romney, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at his residence.
Born on Oct. 30, 1939 in Hampshire County, he was the son of the late William Woodrow and Nina (Heavner) Carlile. He was also preceded in death by one brother Michael Allen Carlile.
Mr. Carlile retired in 1993 from GTE as a computer programer after 31 years of service.
Mr. Carlile served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Hampshire Post 91. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Carlile served several terms as Councilman for the city of Romney.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Keckley) Carlile; three daughters, Lisa G. Haines and husband Keith, Romney, Jennifer L. Southerly and husband Tim, Romney and Melissa D. Keiter and husband Ric, DelRay; two sisters, Mrs. Janet Barrett, Vernon, N.J. and Mrs. Kathy Sue Jones, Fairmont; five grandchildren, Derek J. Southerly, Brittany L. Haines, Tristan L. Southerly, Ashlyn R. Haines and William Tre Keiter.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Meadows.
Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.

WILLIAM FEMI
MORANTOWN -- William Femi, 70, of Nazzerano Lane, N.W., Frostburg, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 26, 1930 in Morantown, he was the son of the late Nazzerano and Rosie (Bisignano) Femi. Mr. Femi was also preceded in death by his wife, Odette; three brothers, Arthur Femi, Ernest Femi and Santino Femi; and one sister, Romy Crato.
Mr. Femi was retired from the Holiday Inn, Cumberland, as a chef and he formerly cooked for the Maryland State Police and Sheriff's Dept. He was a U.S Army Veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church and Farrady Post 24 American Legion, both of Frostburg.
Mr. Femi is survived by three stepsons, Mason Rodeheaver. Morantown, Benjamin Rodeheaver, Ellerslie and Roger Rodeheaver, Grantsville; three brothers, Louis Femi, Frostburg, Ted Femi, LaVale and Joseph Femi, Morantown; five sisters, Madeline Femi, Morantown, Theresa Dickel, Morantown, Esther Pantuso, Frostburg, Patsy Myers, Cumberland and Rosalie Peck, Frostburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A burial mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael's Catholic Church on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes as celebrant. Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will bestow military honors at the church.
The body will be cremated after the Mass, and the ashes will be inurned at a later date in the Maryland's Veteran's cemetery at Rocky Gap.
