MYRTLE R. KANE
LAVALE -- Myrtle Rose Kane, 91, of 8 Grant Drive, LaVale, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on July 3, 1909, in Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Burley and May Ross (Lowery) Burley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon William Kane on Jan. 20, 1987.
Mrs. Kane was retired from the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America.
She is survived by a brother, John Burley, Cumberland; and a special niece, Harriett Murphy and husband Ralph, Midlothian.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Landaker officiating.
Interment will be in Porter Cemetery, Hyndman, Pa.
RUTH V. BEEGLE
Ruth V. Beegle, 96, died May 5, 2001, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born May 13, 1904, in Everett, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Tula Feaster Beegle.
Miss Beegle was a graduate of Western Maryland Hospital in 1924 and worked as a registered nurse in the Cumberland area for many years.
She is survived by two brothers, James and Clarence Beegle of Pennsylvania and a close friend, Dellann Campbell.
At Miss Beegle's request, her body was donated to the Anatomy Board of Maryland.
BETTY A. CARRINGTON
CUMBERLAND -- Betty Ann (Patterson) Carrington, 76, of 229 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born on Dec. 23, 1924, in Evansville, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Marshall Patterson and Blanche Patterson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Moselle Paige; and a brother, Walter Peaches.
Mrs. Carrington was a supervisor of Environmental Affairs at the Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She is survived by a son, Michael William Morgan, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Dianne Lorraine Dorsey, Cumberland; and a brother, Charles William Rutter and wife Anna, Atlantic City, N.J.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12 noon with the Rev. Don Hinkle officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
MILLARD L. CONNOR
FROSTBURG -- Millard L. "Bill" Connor, 85, of Frostburg, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Egle Nursing Home.
Born on Aug. 27, 1915, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Millard and Louise (Niner) Connor.
Mr. Connor was retired from Celanese Corp., and Sowers Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Farrady Post #24, life member of Mt. Savage VFW Old Rail Post #6025, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1273.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret M. (Passarelli) Connor; two sons, Richard Connor and wife Jolieta, Frostburg, and Robert Connor and wife Linda, Frostburg; one daughter, Carol Ann Race and husband Jim, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Dennis Connor, Jeff Connor, Brian P. Connor, Cathy Crowe, Bobbie Yaeger, Scott Race and Stephanie Race; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Monsignor Robert S. Passarelli officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Honor Guard Members of Farrady Post 24 and Mt. Savage VFW Old Rail Post #6025 will accord military honors at graveside.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Connor, Jeff Connor, Brian Connor, Jim Race, Scott Race and Bill Crowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobbie Yaeger, Cathy Crowe, Stephanie Race and Chris Connor.

MARY A. TETER
ARBUTUS -- Mrs. Mary Amy Teter, 95, of Arbutus, formerly of Cumberland, a loving, gracious lady has received her eternal reward on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Mary L. Barillaro in Arbutus.
Born in a' Soddie' May 27, 1905, in Holyoke, Colo., she was the daughter of the late John Fermen and Lillie A. (Mitchell) Barnes. She came with her family to Cumberland in 1914. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Teter in 1979; two sisters, Agnes A. Snyder and Ivy E. Carder; two brothers, Peter W. Barnes and John Ferman Barnes Jr.; and a granddaughter, Cathy Sue Teter.
Most of Mrs. Teter's life was spent as a homemaker and farmer near Oldtown. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cumberland.
Sharing loving memories are her six daughters, Ruth E. Winfield, Cumberland, Eva A. Winfield and husband Joe, Ridgeley, W.Va., Mary L. Barillaro, Arbutus, Frances T. Poole and husband Vernon, College Park, Margaret P. Delligatti, Palm City, Fla., and Angela C. Deffenbaugh, Cumberland; four sons, Jacob S. Teter and wife Shirley, Cumberland, Clarence E. Teter and wife Wanda, Oldtown, John F. Teter and wife Shirley, Oldtown, and Stephen M. Teter, LaVale; 32 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Nora Eva Ott, Colorado, and Lillie Nelson, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Oldtown.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Teter's grandsons.
STEVEN R. CLEM
SHORT GAP, W.Va. -- Steven Ray Clem, 47, of Short Gap, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at his home.
Born on March 12, 1954, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Marshall and Edna Clem.
Mr. Clem was a former employee of the CSX Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Kay Clem; three daughters, Krenda Weisenmiller and husband Chris, Renda Hamilton and husband Doug, all of Cumberland, and Cassandra Hoffman and husband Tom, Winchester, Va.; one son, Frank Reed and wife Sherry, Berkeley Springs; three step-sisters, Eloise Rhodes, Charleston, Ill., Sandra Daub and Mary Ann Regghia, both of Levitown, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Tasha, Heather and Anthony Weisenmiller, Doug and Ciara Hamilton, Alyssa Reed, Josh Bragg and Nathan Hoffman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Md.
