CUMBERLAND -- Friends for James A. Poling will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
CARLYN LAKIN
COLLEGE PARK -- On Tuesday, May 1, 2001, the beloved wife of Arthur F. Lakin passed away after a long illness.
Mrs. Lakin is survived by her son, Craig Lakin; daughter, Cynthia Smith, and her grandchildren Ashley and Christina Lakin and Courtney, Matthew and Kenny Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Jacquelyn Davis. She was preceded in death by her mother, Reba McKee and brother, Donald Ringler.
Mrs. Lakin was a former member of Kingsley Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1947 and Frostburg State University, class of 1951. Mrs. Lakin was an educator in Prince George's County, and taught 3rd and 4th grades for 28 years before retiring. She divided her time between Fenwick Island, Delaware and College Park.

C. JOANN "BUNNY" MORRIS
WESTERNPORT -- C. Joann "Bunny" Morris, 69, of 106 Roosevelt St., Westernport, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at Moran Manor Nursing Home.
Born on May 21, 1931 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Amel H. and Cletus C. Beeman. A granddaughter, Megan Lutton also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Morris was a 1949 graduate of Barton High School. She was a retired food service employee of the Allegany County Schools, and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years, J. Thomas Morris; two sons, J. Thomas Morris Jr. and wife Mary Anne, James K. Morris and wife Janet; a daughter, Lori A. Lutton and husband Edward all of Westernport; a brother, William Beeman of Barton; seven grandchildren, Katie, Amel, Cassie and Eric Morris, Emily, Dane and Tessa Lutton.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Adam Parker officiating.
Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Westernport.
Pallbearers will be Craig Morris, Charles Laffey, Jim Lutton, Amel Morris, Gary Grove and Ron Arnold.

JOHN ROBERT "JACK" MACVEIGH
CUMBERLAND -- John R. "Jack" MacVeigh, 77, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 9, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of the late John Gerald and Gertrude (Greene) MacVeigh.
Mr. MacVeigh was a 1942 graduate of Bethesda/Chevy Chase High School, and a 1946 graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Accounting, from the College of Business Management. While in college, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, where he served as the organization's president. Throughout his lifetime, he was active in this organization.
Mr. MacVeigh was retired president of Sell and Company, Inc., Maryland, Sell and Company, Inc., West Virginia, and T and W Sales Inc., Elkins, W.Va. While at Sell and Company, a wholesale food distributorship located in South Cumberland, Mr. MacVeigh served on the board of directors for the Nuggett Distributors of America and the Baltimore-Washington Frozen Food Association.
Mr. MacVeigh was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Cumberland Country Club, the Deep Creek Lake Yacht Club, the local and national Antique Automobile Associations, life member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association, the Allegany County Historical Society, the Allegany County Republican Party, and the United Commercial Travelers. At the time of his death, he was serving on the board of directors of the Western Maryland Train Station and Museum.
Mr. MacVeigh was a former member of the Cumberland Junior Chamber of Commerce. While in that organization, he served on its board of directors. He was also a former member of the Cumberland Rotary Club of Rotary International and the University of Maryland's College of Business Management Alumni Board.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis (Sell) MacVeigh; two daughters, Bretta Reinhard and husband G. Douglas, Cumberland, and Melissa K. MacVeigh, Richmond, Va.; one son, J. David MacVeigh and wife Carol J. Stowell, York, Pa.; one brother, George E. MacVeigh and wife Ellen G., Bethesda; and one grandson, Robert MacVeigh Reinhard, who is named after his paternal and maternal grandfathers.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Md., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted Friday at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Busch, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Mr. MacVeigh may direct memorial contributions to the John R. and Phyllis Sell MacVeigh Scholarship at Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD, or SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland, MD.
Pallbearers will be his son, J. David MacVeigh; his nephew, John P. MacVeigh, Howard A. Buchanan, Thomas B. Finan, the honorable W. Timothy Finan, Edward G. Huber Jr., John M. Robb Jr., the honorable J. Frederick Sharer and Lynn H. Workmeister.
One honorary pallbearer will be his grandson, Robert MacVeigh Reinhard.
WILLIAM F. CLARK
KEYSER, W.Va. -- William Frederick "Tack" Clark, 89, of 575 Chestnut St., Keyser, retired educator and coach at Keyser High School, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on Sept. 17, 1911, in Ridgeley, he was a son of the late William Forest and Elsie Agnes (Duckworth) Clark. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Alan, Huckle, Roy and Kenneth Clark; and one sister, Beatrice Hosier.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Nola Poland (Hott) Clark; one son, Dr. Donald Frederick Clark, Landing, N.J.; one daughter, Deborah Jean Wallizer, Cumberland, Md.; three sisters, Agnes Comer, LaVale, Md., Kathleen Burkhart, Ridgeley, and Margaret McLaughlin, Ridgeley; one brother, Edwin Clark; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Stayman Field, Potomac State College, on Sunday at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Sue Culbertson Jarrett and Dr. Donald Frederick Clark officiating.
Coach Clark will be taken to the Stayman Field one hour prior to the service. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, South Mineral Street, Keyser, at the same hour.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

JAMES A. POLING
CUMBERLAND -- James A. Poling, 70, of W. First Street, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at his home.
Born on Dec. 10, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James A. Poling Sr. and Jennie (Love) Poling. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Kline. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Poling was retired from the Metro Transit System, Washington, D.C. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the Cumberland American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Linda (Maus) Poling; two daughters, Kimberly Wilson and Jamie Poling; one stepdaughter, Teresa Cox and husband Glenn, Martinsburg, W.Va.; one stepson, Christopher Catlett, Woodstock, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
