MELVIN T. MOON
OAKLAND -- Melvin T. Moon, 83, of Oakland, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on Oct. 29, 1917, in Normalville, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred Moon and Dollie (Tedrow) Moon.
Mr. Moon was a retired coal operator. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of King Solomon's Lodge #346, F&AM, the Pittsburgh Consistory Scottish Rite, the Syria Shrine Temple, Post #71 American Legion, Post #10077 VFW, the Deer Park Sportsman's Club and Oakland Elks Lodge #2481.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy J. "DJ" (Kirksey) Moon; one brother, Robert Moon, Mesa, Ariz.; two nephews; and one niece.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Moon officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of local veterans organizations.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad or the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
MILDRED L. MORELAND
GORMANIA, W.Va. -- Mildred L. Moreland, 82, of Gormania, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
Born on Aug. 2, 1918, in Bismark, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Fannie (Helmick) Moreland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Moreland in 1980.
She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Mt. Storm.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Moon officiating.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Mt. Storm.

CLARA B. BRINER
OAKLAND -- Clara Bell Briner, 87, of South Second Street, Oakland, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at the Cherry Hill Assisted Living Home, Accident.
Born on Aug. 28, 1913, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stuart F. Hamill Sr. and Gladys R. (Rose) Hamill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. "Chick" Briner.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland, where she was a former member of the administrative board and a member of the Naomi Women's Circle. She worked as a clerk for the Garrett County Board of Elections for many years.
Mrs. Briner was a former treasurer for the board of trustees of the Ruth Enlow Library and a former board of directors member of the Garrett County Historical Society, where she served on the organizing board of the Garrett County Museum.
She was a charter member of the Garrett County Chapter, DAR, was former chairman of the Props Committee of the Garrett County Playhouse, was a volunteer at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home and was a Heart Fund and March of Dimes volunteer.
She is survived by one daughter, Gretchen Briner Shaffer and husband Robert, Oakland; and two grandchildren, Patrick Todd Shaffer, Winchester, Va., and Jennifer Erin Shaffer, Oakland.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 4 p.m.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

BETTY E. CLINE
UPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. -- Betty Elizabeth Cline, 76, of Upper St. Clair, died on April 24, 2001, beloved wife of Kenneth G. Cline Sr.; mother of Ronnie Cline of Bridgeville, Kenneth Cline of Scott Twp., Jack Williams of LaVale, Md., and the late Mary Edgwell; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister of Pat Noel, Grace Frickey, William Files, Ronnie Files, Walter Files Jr. and the late Joe Files.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Bogan-Wolf Funeral Home, 430 Washington Ave., Bridgeville, where a Blessing Service was held Friday, April 27, will be held Friday at 10 a.m.
Burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
CHARLES GIORNESTO JR.
CUMBERLAND -- Charles "Chuck" Giornesto Jr., 76, of Cumberland, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at his home.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 12 noon with the Rev. Canon Harold E. Kline officiating.
At Mr. Giornesto's request, his body was cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested tokens of sympathy be made to the donors favorite charity.
GLEN M. SARVER
FROSTBURG -- Glen Milton Sarver, 38, of Lower Consol Road, Frostburg, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at his residence.
Born Feb. 28, 1963 in Cumberland, he was the son of Milton Lee and Judith Ann (Perry) Sarver, Cumberland.
Mr. Sarver was a graduate of Allegany High School and attended Allegany College. He recently had retired from the Maryland State Department of Highways.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sarver is survived by his maternal grandmother, May Athey, Cumberland; his wife, Apryle Lea (Smith) Sarver, two daughters Stephanie Nicole and Rachel Anne Sarver; three brothers, Mark and wife Susan, Hagerstown, Bruce and wife Melinda, White City, Kan., and Phillip and Connie, Hagerstown; three sisters, Cynthia Shipway, Cumberland, Janice Howard and husband Earl, Trafford, P.A. and Karen Driver and husband Norlyn, Bedford, P.A.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Riley, the Rev. Joseph Penick and the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
