MARY C. BLANK
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Mary C. Blank, 91, of Calla Hill, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Dec. 14, 1909, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Hunt and Edna Grant Hunt Stottlemyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Blank; one son, James R. Blank; one daughter, Gloria Jean Radabaugh; and one grandson whom she reared, David Randy Blank.
Mrs. Blank was a retired Nursing Assistant of the Allegany County Nursing Home. She was a member of the St. George's Episcopal Church and the Women of St. George's.
Surviving are four daughters, Virginia Lee Bury, Baltimore, Shirley Ann Jenkins, Mount Savage, M. Carolyn Monahan and husband Ed, Mount Savage, and Verda R. Rowe, Cumberland; two sons, Elmer F. Blank and wife Helen, Don H. Blank and wife Beverly, all of Mount Savage; one half sister, Alice Harris, Cumberland; one half brother, Francis Stottlemyer, Cumberland; one daughter-in-law, Thelma Blank, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. George's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Father Thomas Staupe as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. George's Parish Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Richard Coleman, David Blank, James Jenkins, John Jenkins, Dwayne Monahan and Craig Blank.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. George's Memorial Fund or the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company.
WILLIAM C. MANGUS
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- William Claude Mangus, 85, of 2581 Beard Road, Fayetteville, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Bethesda Nursing Home.
Mr. Mangus was a member of Potomac Lodge #100 and a member of the A.F. & A.M.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Mangus, Fayetteville; one son, Claude R. Mangus, Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside memorial services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Cumberland, Md., Thursday, April 26, 2001, at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cumberland.
GREGORY C. LANDIS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. -- Gregory Colin Landis, 53, of Fort Ashby, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 7, 1947, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Clyde Eston Landis and Clarice Ellen (Shrout) Landis.
Mr. Landis served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was employed by CSX as a conductor/brakeman.
Mr. Landis attended Springfield Assembly of God Church. He was a member and past commander of the Fort Ashby Post #6667 VFW, member of the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department, Vietnam Veteran of America Chapter #172, United Transportation Union and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Marie (Kisamore) Landis; one son, Jason Landis and wife Kate, Fort Ashby; three daughters, Jami Ellen Wrenn and husband Bo, Winchester, Va., Janel Elisa Landis and Joclyn Erin Landis, both of Fort Ashby; one brother, A. Richard Kenney and wife Barbara, Cumberland; and one sister, Debbie Walizer and husband Rick, Fort Ashby. Greg's grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, Taylor Alexis Wilson, Karisa Grace Wrenn, Ethan McKinley Wrenn and Cora Belle Kidwell.
Friends will be received at the Springfield Assembly of God Church on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Blubaugh officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

CARL E. SOUDERS SR.
HANCOCK -- Carl E. "Pappy" Souders Sr., 81, of Maryland Avenue, Hancock, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.
Born on Feb. 20, 1920, in Brosious, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles O. and Elizabeth Easton Souders.
He was retired as a machinist and blueprint reader at Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown. He was co-owner operator of the Kiddie Kare Day Care, pre-school and education center in Hancock.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1365, Hagerstown. He was a volunteer for the Ladies Group of St. Peter's Catholic Church and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Creek Souders of Hancock, whom he married
on Aug. 19, 1944, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock; two sons, Daniel K. Souders of Hancock, and Raymond C. Souders of Little Orleans; one sister, Irene Waugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Carl "Sharpie" Souders and Terry R. Souders; two sisters, Mary Catherine Unger and Genevieve Carlisle; four brothers, James Souders, William Souders, Jesse Souders and Howard Souders.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Rev. Joseph Cosgrove will be celebrant.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. where a Rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends the funeral home will be open from 12 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ladies Group of St. Peter's and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 16 E. High St., Hancock, MD 21750.
RUTH G. LONG
DAN'S RUN, W.Va. -- Ruth G. Long, 80, of Dan's Run, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1920, in Apollo, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Clark and Mary (Leonard) Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Long Sr.; and infant daughter, Angela Joan Long; and four sisters, Irene Heckman, Dorothy Jones, Iona Grace and Evelyn Baker.
Mrs. Long had worked as a cook at Camp Mingo (State of WV) and Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and attended Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Mrs. Long belonged to the United Methodist Women and Apollo Chapter 125 Order of the Eastern Star and Mineral County Democrat Association.
Mrs. Long was the last immediate survivor of her family. Survivors include her daughters, Lois Kesner, Fort Ashby, and Donna Snyder, Keyser; her son, Herman H. Long Jr., Cumberland, Md.; grandchildren, Brad Long, Fort Ashby, Alisha Kesner Gray and husband Shawn, Virginia Beach, Va., Andrea Long and Charles Long, Cumberland, Jodi Snyder and Tommy Snyder, Keyser; four step-grandchildren; and a special friend, Violet Poland.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Alkire Chapter #10, O.E.S., will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Daniels and the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Patterson Creek Volunteer Fire Department or to the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department.
