REGINA T. GLASS
FRIENDSVILLE -- Regina Theresa Glass, 72, formerly of Friendsville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Colonial Beach, Va., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Elizabeth (Pound) Davis. She was also preceded in death by one son, Steven.
Ms. Glass was a homemaker.
She is survived by five children, James Thomas and wife, Nancy, Grantsville; Margaret Bradeson and husband, Peter, New Bern, N.C.; Charles Thomas and wife, Carla, Frostburg; Richard Thomas and wife, Terri, Augusta, W.Va.; Michael Thomas and wife, Kim, Friendsville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, P.A., 943 Second Avenue, Friendsville, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating.
Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Greg Thomas, Trent Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Tim Thomas, Jim Thomas and Butch Friend.
JEANETTE F. ISER
RAWLINGS -- Jeanette F. Iser, 74, of 23405 McMullen Highway, S.W., Rawlings, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on May 26, 1926, at Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late John James and Estella Mae (Mackey) Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Iser Sr. on Feb. 24, 1992; one daughter, Tracie Renee Iser and four sisters, Mae Robinson, Dorothy Steele, Marian Llewellyn and Eleanor Brodie.
Mrs. Iser was retired from the Celanese Amcelle Plant in the spinning department, but her true labor in life was being a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and was an avid bingo player. She attended the Dawson United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Mapleshade Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary as well as a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the McCoole Volunteer Fire Department. She was also a very active member of the former McCoole School PTA and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are a son, Leonard E. Iser Jr., with whom she resided; five daughters, Mary E. "Betsy" Rice and husband, Marques, Keyser, W.Va.; Naomi F. Kile and husband, Boyd, Rawlings; Patricia J. Bothwell and husband, Ronnie, Burlington, W.Va.; Rebecca J. Miller and husband, Donald, Keyser; Kellie L. Biser and husband, Dusty, Yemassee, S.C.; four special stepchildren, Walter E. Iser and wife, Joy, Keyser; Maxine L. McDowell and husband, Bill, Rawlings; Bernice L. Treutle and husband, Jack, Keyser; Beverly R. Cadwallader and husband, Leon, Gilmore; two brothers, James Phillips and wife, Ruth, Lonaconing; Walter Phillips, Lonaconing; four sisters, Isabelle McDonough, Lonaconing; Betty Stevenson, Swanton; Catherine Sowers, Rawlings; Frances Metz and husband, Harold, Gaithersburg; two additional sisters-in-law, Alda Carr and Nellie Rexrode, both of Rawlings; two very close friends, Sybol Iser and Joanne Day, both of Rawlings; 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Dawson United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John F. Footen officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.
DOROTHY F. RHODES
BARTON -- Dorothy Floretta (Kyle) Rhodes, 58, of 18905 Legislative Road, Barton, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at her son's home.
Born on Aug. 20, 1942, in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Merle (Callis) Kyle. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Charles Kyle.
Mrs. Rhodes was a 1960 graduate of Valley High School and Lutheran by faith.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Rhodes; one son, Dr. Jeffery Rhodes and wife Karrey of Frostburg; and three grandsons, Kyle, Liam and Sean Rhodes. She is also survived by three brothers, Cecil Kyle of Tacoma, Washington, Joseph Kyle of Barton, and Earl Kyle of Barton; two sisters, Hazel Lee Spriggs of Chantilly, Va., and Emma Mae Watson of Ambridge, Pa.
At Mrs. Rhodes request, her body was cremated. A private family memorial service was held at the home of her son, Dr. Jeffery Rhodes on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Western Maryland Health Systems Hospice Program, c/o Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
The Boal Funeral Home, Barton, was in charge of the arrangements.
CHARLES C. CLARK JR.
BUFFALO MILLS, Pa. -- Charles Clyde Clark Jr., 51, of cemetery Road, Buffalo Mills, formerly of Hyndman and Cumberland, Md., died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 15, 1949, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Mary E. (Luteman) and Charles C. Clark Sr.
Surviving are Ruth E. (Keefer) Clark, his wife of 10 years, whom he married
July 24, 1991; a daughter, Kennie Lee Keefer, and a grandson, Skylar Keefer, both of Cumberland; a brother, William Shircliffe, San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Carole Metheny, Berryville, Va.
Mr. Clark was a Vietnam War era veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a long-time supporter of the NRA. He was known for playing the guitar and writing music.
Services for Mr. Clark will be conducted at the discretion and convenience of his survivors.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa. The family requests that memorials to Mr. Clark be sent to either the Union Rescue Mission or the Animal Welfare Society, both of Cumberland.
EUGENE F. PENDERGAST
CUMBERLAND -- Eugene Francis Pendergast, 77, of 9 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, David and Judy.
Born Feb. 3, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Michael John and Mary Catherine (Eury) Pendergast. He also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Renee Christine and one brother, Gerald Pendergast.
Mr. Pendergast was a retired laborer for LaVale-Wilbert Vault Company and Local 616 Labor Union. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Labor Local 616 and the Cumberland Moose 271.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Marlean M. (Bloss) Pendergast; five sons, David E. Pendergast and wife, Judy; Steven F. Pendergast, all of Cumberland; Jeffrey L. Pendergast, at home; Kevin W. Pendergast and fiancee, Denise; Donald J. Pryor and wife, Martha, all of Cumberland; three daughters, Rebecca Lynn Smith and husband, Clarence Jr., Winchester, Va.; Sharon L. Miller and fiance, Junior, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; Lisa M. Miller and husband, Elmer, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; four brothers, Patrick J. Pendergast and wife, Marion, Locust Grove; John T. Pendergast and wife, Evelyn; Joseph L. Pendergast and wife, Delcie; James A. Pendergast and wife, Anita, all of Cumberland; one sister, Catherine Carochione, Euclid, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, Danny, Amy, Clarence III, Tonya, Tamesa, Tasha, Shayann, Cierra, Ryan, Adam, Kimberly, Erika, Roger, Jeremy and Brittanie and four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kaden, Little Danny and Mariah.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
B. ALLENE HAINES
ROMNEY, W.Va. -- B. Allene Haines, 65, of Romney, died April 17, 2001, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born April 7, 1936, in Romney, she was the daughter of Martha P. "Nan" (Keckley) Whiteman, Romney.
Mrs. Haines worked as a dispatcher for the West Virginia State Police and retired August 1998, as a clerical secretary from the West Virginia Department of Highways after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Romney, the Loyal Order of Moose 1371, the VFW Wappocomo Post 1101, and the American Legion Hampshire Post 91, all of Romney.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Everett Ray Haines; two sons, Robert Ray Haines and special friend, Kelly, Romney; Timothy Drew Haines and wife, Donna, Romney; three grandchildren, Robert Logan, Erica Rae and Kyle Lucas Haines, all of Romney and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Haines residence, 752 Depot Street, Romney, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday at the Shaffer Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Frank Meadows will officiate.
Interment will be at Indian Mound Cemetery, Romney, W.Va.
Memorials may be made to Relay for Life, Hampshire High School, to the attention of Tammy Moreland.
