JERRY E. WEIMER
Jerry E. Weimer, 22, Accident, died Wednesday September 15, 1999, as result of a logging accident in Fayette County, Pa.
Weimer was born June 17, 1977, in Meyersdale, Pa., a son of John E. and Debbie M. (Nicol) Weimer, Frostburg (Garrett County).
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Grantsville. A 1995 graduate of Northern High School, he was a former member of 4-H and VICA.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kista Kay (Knox) Weimer; one son, Ryan Dwayne Weimer, at home; two brothers, Ronnie L. Weimer and J.J. Weimer, both of Frostburg; four sisters, Melissa A. Savage, Finzel, Cindy G. Frantz, Friendsville, and Sara E. Weimer and Laura M. Weimer, both of Frostburg; his maternal grandmother, Eloise Nicol, Lonaconing, and his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Colmer, Barton.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted Sunday, Sept. 19, with the Rev. Paul Byrnes and the Rev. Alan Kauffman officiating. Interment was in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed in trust for Ryan Weimer.
DAVID E. COGAN
David E. 'Dave' Cogan, 72, Oakland, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 31, 1926, in Bedford, Pa., he was the son of the late Jake and Nellie Cogan. He was also preceded in death by one son, Wayne Cogan, and one grandson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Oakland Lodge 2481, BPO Elks, Proctor Kildow Post 71, American Legion, and VFW Post 10077, Deer Park.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Shaffer) Sowers Cogan; one daughter, Nancy Pepple, Jersey Shore, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Leslie Tressler, Frederick; two stepsons, Jay Sowers, Oakland, and Wellington 'Jack' Sowers, Hagerstown; and eight grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
A memorial service was conducted at the funeral home by members of Oakland Lodge 2481, BPO Elks.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations of southern Garrett County.
MAE E. WASS
Mae Evelyn Wass, 92, Addison, Pa., died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 10, 1907, in Addison Township, Pa., she was a daughter of the late George F. and Sophia (Richter) Wass. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Howard Wass, and four sisters, Irene and Esther Wass, Edith Wright, and Mary Griffith.
She retired after 42 years as an elementary school teacher for the Garrett County Board of Education. She was a member of the Garrett County Teachers Association and the Federal Teachers Association. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Addison, a former member and president of WELCA and the church council, and a former member of Camp Sequanota Board of Directors.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Harold Griffith, Friendsville, Homer Griffith, Ohio, Ralph Wright, Glenn Wass, and James Wass, all of Addison, Pa., and Helen Stairs, Baltimore.
Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, Pa. A service was conducted earlier today, Sept. 23, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. William Triebe officiating. Interment was in the Addison Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
ALMA R. MONGOLD
Alma Rebecca Mongold, 85, South Fork, W.Va., died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker, W.Va.
Born March 22, 1914, in Milam, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Daniel Edward 'Tucker' and Mahela F. (Smith) Hinkle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lester Mongold, on March 25, 1995; five sisters; two brothers; and one grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include two daughters, Mallie Combs, Moorefield, W.Va., and Janet Nelson, Bloomington; two sons, Vernon D. 'Hoss' Mongold and Earl C. Mongold, both of South Fork; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home, Moorefield. The family will receive friends there from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dennis Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield.

WILLIAM R. BEVER SR.
William Russell Bever Sr., 66, Swanton, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born July 18, 1933, in Cross, W.Va., he was a son of the late George Edison and Elizabeth (Fox) Bever. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Bever, George Bever, Tom Bever, and Joe Bever; and two sisters, Irma Ahern and Gladys Schell.
He retired from Westvaco Corp. after 43 years of service, having worked in the wood yard. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict; a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church; Hiram Lodge 103 AF&AM, Westernport; Ali Ghan Shriners, Cumberland; the Scottish Rite of Cumberland; a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Kelly Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont, W.Va.; and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40, LaVale.
Survivors include one son, William R. Bever Jr., Swanton; one daughter, Yvetta Compton, Swanton; three brothers, Ralph Bever, Swanton, Sam Bever, Ludlow, Ill., and John Bever, Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Martha Marple, Swanton, and Myra Determan, Westernport; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Meredith Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Bever Cemetery, Swanton.
Hiram Lodge 103 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:15 p.m. this evening.
BEULAH V. SHARPS
Beulah V. Sharps, 89, Aurora, W.Va., died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born March 24, 1910, in Whitmer, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. and Mamie (Plumb) White. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Floyd T. Kerns and Clarence Sharps.
She was a retired cafeteria worker for the University of Akron (Ohio).
Survivors include two sons, John F. Kerns, Aurora, and Jacob T. Kerns, Akron; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Sharps’s request, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.
MAURINE GOLDSMITH
Maurine Goldsmith, 69, Rockville and Deep Creek Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jeanette (Markson) Schwartz.
Survivors include her husband, Elliott D. Goldsmith; one daughter, Susan A. Markovitz, Columbia; three sons, Steven R. Goldsmith, San Francisco, Calif., Michael J. Goldsmith, Walkersville, and David J. Goldsmith, New York City, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
Friends were received at the family’s home in Rockville.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Danzanky-Goldberg Memorial Chapel, Rockville, with Rabbi Howard Gorin officiating. Interment was private.

DANIEL E. LLOYD
Daniel E. Lloyd, 34, Mobile, Ala., formerly of Oakland, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at the Springhill Memorial Hospital, Mobile.
Born Oct. 23, 1964, in Oakland, he was a son of Smiley and Sandra (Landridge) Lloyd, Mobile.
He was a long distance truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Carl Lloyd, Moss Point, Miss., and Randall Lloyd, Montgomery, Ala.
An interment service will be conducted at the King Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Phillips officiating.

LYNETTE M. QUICK
Lynette M. Quick, 45, Terra Alta, W.Va., Cranesville community, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born May 28, 1954, in Trenton, Mich., she was a daughter of C.J. and Ann (Bergmoser) Williams, Flat Rock, Mich.
She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Terra Alta, and was employed at Pineview Veterinary Hospital in Oakland.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert R. Quick, an assistant principal at Southern High School; one brother, James Williams, Novi, Mich.; two sisters, Carol Bedrosian, Midland, Mich.; and Beth Hill, Brighton, Mich.
Friends were received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Edward’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 15, with Father Mark Ward as celebrant.

BEULAH B. BROADWATER
Beulah B. Broadwater, 87, Huber Heights, Ohio, formerly of Potomac Park, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Grandview Hospital.
She was a member of Potomac Park United Methodist Church, Potomac Park.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Feight, Huber Heights, and Roger Feight, Winchester, Va.; one sister, Freda Thomas, Florida; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted at Potomac Park United Methodist Church on Monday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. James McMahan officiating. Private interment was conducted at the Grantsville Cemetery.
