ANNA B. ATHEY
CUMBERLAND -- Anna Belle Athey, 80, formerly of Louisiana Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born on June 14, 1920, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. Livingood and Christine "Goldie" (Yantz) Livingood. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, George Erickson and Kenneth Leroy Athey; one brother, Richard Livingood; and one sister, Betty Myers.
Mrs. Athey worked with her late husband operating Athey's Exxon until her retirement. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen E. Welsh and husband Bob, LaVale, Marla "Toopie" Pisciotta and husband Vincent, Charles Town, W.Va., Dawn "Suzy" Hyland and husband Patrick, Winchester, Va.; one sister, Shirley House, Cumberland; one brother, Harry A. Livingood, Frostburg; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Pisciotta, Rick House, Jim House, Ted House, Craig Livingood, Rick House III, and Patrick Hyland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Allegany Animal Shelter or the American Epileptic Association, c/o Mrs. Helen Welsh, 923A Weires Ave., LaVale, MD 21502.

CUMBERLAND -- Friends will be received for Blanche V. "Tooter" Davis at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
JAMES W. GROGG
CUMBERLAND -- James W. Grogg, 62, of Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 29, 1938, in Cumberland, he was the son of Beulah (Miller) Grogg, Mount Savage, and the late Burley Mason. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter.
Mr. Grogg was a former employee of the Furlow's Garage. He was Protestant by faith.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Grace (Piper) Grogg; one daughter, Tina Sheetz and special friend Johnny, Cumberland; one son, James W. Grogg Jr. and special friend Hope, Cumberland; four sisters, Mamie Yaider and husband Buddy, Cumberland, Linda Sweitzer and husband Jesse, Mount Savage, Theresa Dixon, Rawlings, and Sherry Miller and husband John, Tennessee; three brothers, Steve Grogg and wife Kay, Cumberland, Farrell Grogg and wife Jackie, Newton, Kan., and Tim Grogg and wife Donna, Westernport; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
At Mr. Grogg's request, he will be cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Grogg.
RICHARD FAZENBAKER
WESTERNPORT -- Richard "Dick" Fazenbaker, 76, of 425 Poplar St., Westernport, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born at Mill Run, on April 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Warnick) Fazenbaker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry "Manny" Fazenbaker, and Tommy Fazenbaker.
Mr. Fazenbaker was a retired Road Foreman with the State Highway Administration, having 49 years of service. He was the employee of the year in 1984 for the District 6 Office, and awarded a Governor's Citation on Sept. 30, 1996, for his many years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany. Mr. Fazenbaker was vice-president of the Upper Potomac Rod and Gun Club, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Evelyn (Broadwater) Fazenbaker; two daughters, Janie Cole and husband Elwood of Westernport, and Donna MacDonald and special friend Dennis Burns of Westernport; one son, Richard Fazenbaker and wife Delsie of Westernport; one sister, Clara Madison of Elwood City, Pa.; six brothers, Robert Fazenbaker, his twin, of Coraopolis, Pa., Leroy Fazenbaker of Elwood City, Pa., Donald Fazenbaker of Pennsylvania, Junior Fazenbaker of Westernport, Jack Fazenbaker of Westernport, and Vernon Fazenbaker of Backbone Mountain; five grandchildren, Kimberly Broadwater and husband Casey, Coyd Cole and fiancee Angel Bever, Ashley MacDonald and fiancee Dale Matthews, Sydney Fazenbaker and Allie Fazenbaker; one great-grandson, Carson Matthews.
"Daddy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was always helping his family in every possible way. He was good to all his friends and neighbors, always lending a helping hand. People that knew him admired him for his hard work and dedication for his years of service with the State Highway Administration. No words can express how precious he was to his family and we will miss him deeply."
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Morris officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe directed to Tri-Towns Rescue Squad or Potomac Fire Co., both of Westernport.
LESLIE H. NEWHOUSE
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. -- Leslie Harvey "Leck" Newhouse, 83, of Holly Avenue, Moorefield, passed away Friday afternoon, April 13, 2001, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born on Aug. 17, 1917, in Rig, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary (Riggleman) Newhouse. He was preceded in death by one daughter; one great-grandson; six sisters; and three brothers. He was a member of the Bass United Methodist Church, a member of the Romney Lodge #86 A.F. & A.M., a member of the L.O.O.M. Chapter #358 and was a retired pipefitter for the B&O/CSX Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, Hester (Wolfe) Newhouse; one son, Carlton Newhouse and wife Judy of St. Augustine, Fla.; one daughter, Ann Byrd and husband Roger of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield, with Pastor Ted Osgood and Judy Vetter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 8 a.m. and the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Fraley Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home of Moorefield.
BETTY E. ARNOLD
WESTERNPORT -- Betty Eleanor Arnold, 76, of 422 Poplar St., Westernport, went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2001.
Born in Bloomington, on July 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eva McDowell. Her husband, Lester M. Arnold, whom she married
on June 26, 1941, also preceded in death on March 15, 1985.
Mrs. Arnold was a graduate of Bruce High School Class of 1941. She was a member of Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she had directed Bible school and was Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking for five years at the Tri-Towns After School Program, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va.
Mrs. Arnold was past president of Pentecostal Holiness Church Women's Auxiliary and currently a Board Member of the Women's Ministries. She was a member of the Bloomington Homemakers Club for 29 years, where she was a past president. She received the honor of Homemaker of the Year in 1999.
Surviving her are three children, Ronald L. Arnold and Delores of Burlington, W.Va., Rebecca J. Raines and husband Woodrow of Williamsburg, Va., and Betty Ann Aronhalt and husband Gary of Westernport, with whom she resided; two brothers, George T. McDowell Sr. of Gallatin, Tenn., and Donald H. McDowell of Bloomington; two sisters, Edna S. "Dowell" Kooken and Eva C. (Murph) Rosier, both of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Robin R. Harris, Ronald L. Arnold Jr., Woodrow W. Raines III, Kelli S. St. Clair, Angela N. Gallagher, Jennifer D. Piatt and Gary W. Aronhalt II; great-grandchildren, Donald Harris Jr., Kirstin Arnold, Brandon Harris, Casey Arnold, Grayson St. Clair, Hunter Raines and Bryce St. Clair; and was anxiously awaiting the birth of two great-grandchildren soon.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Brackett and her nephew the Rev. George T. McDowell Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
Pallbearers will be in her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Ronald L. Arnold Jr., Woodrow W. Raines III, Gary W. Aronhalt II, Donald Harris Sr., M. Scott St. Clair, William B. Gallagher and Jeffrey R. Piatt.
