JO ANNA HARRISON
Jo Anna Harrison, 80, Grafton, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at her home.
Born March 1, 1919, in Grafton, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Grace (Mahaffey) Gerkin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Winifred D. Harrison, on April 6, 1989.
She was a 50-year member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grafton, a member of the Woman’s Christian Union, and the Naomi Chapter #12 OES, Grafton.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Roger A. Harrison Sr., Oakland, and George Michael 'Mike' Harrison, Grafton; one brother, T. David Gerkin, Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Ruth G. Marshall, Grafton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, Grafton, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 15, with the Rev. Roger A. Harrison Sr. officiating. Interment was in Woodsdale Memorial Park, Grafton.

LAURA M. MOWERY
Laura Marie Mowery, 89, Thomas, W.Va., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
Born Jan. 18, 1910, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late Peter Mason and Elizabeth Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Mowery, in 1989; one son; one brother; one sister; and one grandchild.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Robert P. Rank, Cumberland; one daughter, Dianne L. Cress, Masontown, W.Va.; one sister, Margaret White, Youngstown, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, the time of the service, with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Inurnment will in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas, next week, following cremation.
BEULAH A. WHITFIELD
Beulah A. Whitfield, 91, Westernport, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 6, 1908, in Bethel, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Herman) Virts. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, John Farris, in 1980, and Ed-ward Whitfield, in 1988.
She was a homemaker and was Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Westernport Senior Citizens.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise Bray, Rawlings, Mary Sears, Piedmont, W.Va., and Betty Johnson, Westernport; one brother, William Virts Jr., Swanton; two sisters, Anita Goodwin, Swanton, and Louise Grove, Keyser, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Eric Durden officiating. Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
NICHOLAS J. KNAPP
Nicholas J. Knapp, infant son of Donald J. Knapp Jr. and Malinda S. Dixon, Oakland, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Donald J. and Toni L. (Beckman) Knapp, Red House; maternal grandfather, Paul V. Dixon, Terra Alta, W.Va.; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Beatrice V. and Carl R. Ford Sr., Gorman; paternal great-grandparents, Floyd and Wilma (Pifer) Knapp, Amboy, W.Va.; and maternal great-grandparents, Edward and Helen (Cline) Hanlin, Gorman.
A service was conducted at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red House, on Saturday, Sept. 11, with the Rev. William Connelly and the Rev. David Moon officiating. Interment was in the Red House Cemetery.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.
JOHN E. MARTIN
John E. Martin, 49, Oakland, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at his home.
Born May 4, 1950, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Elwood E. and Merle A. (Fint) Martin. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty M. Martin.
He was a former computer designer for the AAI Corp., Baltimore, and held a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and an MBA.
Survivors include four brothers, Ernest R. Martin and Cecil E. Martin, both of Oakland, Alva K. Martin, Monroe, N.C., and Albert A. Martin, Columbia.
At Mr. Martin’s request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.
TWILLIA K. KUHLMANN
Twillia Kay 'Ethel' (Moss) Kuhlmann, 51, Keyser, W.Va., formerly of Portsmouth, Va., died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Oakland.
Born June 16, 1948, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Carl Hugh and Rachel Mobra (Gainer) Moss. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.
She was formerly employed as a secretary and legal advocate with the Family Crisis Center in Keyser. She attended the Church of God, Keyser, and was also a member of Chapter 19 Women of the Moose, Keyser.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly A. 'Tina' (Kuhlmann) Skiles, Oakland, one son, William C.A. 'Billy' Kuhlmann Jr., Keyser; one stepson, William Christopher Wood, Decatur, Ill.; two brothers, Ronald D. Moss, Suffolk, Va., and Robert E. Moss, Indiana; seven sisters, Isabelle Timmons, Sumter, S.C., Betty Fleshman, Mableton, Ga., Jolane Ball and Sharon Moss, both of Wendell, N.C., Mary Taylor, Sherrodsville, Ohio, Virginia Fulcher, Portsmouth, and Janet Moss, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and one grandson.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, where a service was conducted Monday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. Daniel Sears officiating. Interment was in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

EMMA C. CRITES
Emma Catherine Crites, 85, a resident of the Cumberland Nursing Home, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 10, 1914, in Cumberland (North Branch), she was a daughter of the late John Hunter and Bertha (Pollock) Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Udell Crites; and one sister, Helen Tipton.
She was a member of the Oliver Grove United Methodist Church, a member of the District 16 Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Oldtown Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Crites, Oldtown, and John Robert Crites, Devlin Manor; two daughters, Sondra Wharton, LaVale, and Diane Stafford, Cumberland; one sister, Dorothy Malone, Finzel; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a service was conducted Monday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. Tim McGregor officiating. Interment was in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
MARY E. OTTO DETRICK
Mary Elma Otto Detrick, 90, Grantsville, formerly of Beallsville, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Jan. 1, 1909, in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Emily (George) Jankey. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Loraine Otto, who died in 1945; her second husband, Raymond Detrick who died Dec. 4, 1992; and one grandson.
She was a former member of the Beallsville United Presbyterian Church, where she was a teacher in the Jennie Craig Sunday School class.
She was a graduate of Frostburg Normal College, and had been a teacher in Garrett County elementary schools.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Hetrick, Grantsville, and Janice Litton, Beallsville; two sons, Robert Otto, Midland, and Louis Detrick, Eighty Four, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Greenlee Funeral Home, Beallsville, where a service was conducted Saturday, Sept. 11, with the Rev. Ann Painter officiating. Interment was in Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, New Germany.

LONA M. STRAWSER
Lona Mildred (Friend) Strawser, 75, Reedsville, W.Va., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Windy Hill Manor, near Kingwood, W.Va.
Born Sept. 12, 1924, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Richard Henry and Sopha (Sisler) Friend. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary P. Strawser; two sisters, Flossie L. Hook and Evelyn R. Fike; and one brother, Huston H. Friend.
She was a graduate of Friendsville High School. She was an active member of the Kanes Creek (W.Va.) United Methodist Church, where she served in various offices of the United Methodist Women, and taught Bible School.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Paul W. Strawser; three daughters, Bonnie K. Malone, Duncanville, Pa., Judy R. Pratt, Masontown, W.Va., and Joy A. Galliford, Miami, Fla.; one brother, Gary Ray Friend, Friendsville; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Waldeck Funeral Home, Masontown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the Kanes Creek United Methodist Church on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dean Hughes and Dr. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville.

GEORGIANNA G. HEBB
Georgianna G. Hebb, 94, Aurora, W.Va., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Aug. 8, 1905, in Ohio, she was the dughter of the late John W. and Mary E. (Thomas) Gower. She was also preceded in death by her husband, A. Boyd Hebb, and one daughter, Ruth Davidson.
She was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include one son, Richard G. Hebb, Anchorage, Alaska, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., with Rick Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Limestone Cemetery, St. George, W.Va.
JOHN A. HINEBAUGH
John A. Hinebaugh, 89, Oakland, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 26, 1910, in Oakland, he was the son of the late William F. and Sarah R. (Wonderly) Hinebaugh. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audra M. (Reams) Hinebaugh, in 1998; one son, Richard L. Hinebaugh; and one grandson.
He attended the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, Oakland, and was a retired coal miner.
Survivors include six daughters, Bonnie Phillips, Shinnston, W.Va., Barbara McCarthy, Catharpin, Va., Karen Sue Lewis, Henderson, Nev., Gloria Woods and Debra Hinebaugh, both of Oakland, and Kimberly Yeager, Coral Springs, Fla.; three sons, John E. Hinebaugh, Swanton, and Dale E. Hinebaugh and Steven D. Hinebaugh, both of Oakland; 29 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren on Thursday, Sept. 2, with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment was in the Taylor Sines Cemetery.
