MAY V. SNYDER
MOUNT SAVAGE -- May Virginia Snyder, 100, of 13009 Ervin St., died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Frostburg Village Adult Day Care Center.
Born Oct. 26, 1900, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Harden) Willison. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Irvin Snyder; one son, Vernon Snyder; and one daughter, Evelyn Pratt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ms. Snyder was a former employee of the Klotz Throwing Company Silk Mill in south Cumberland until it's closing. She was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church, Bedford Road.
Surviving are two sons, Donald "Joe" Snyder and wife Alice, Finzel, Eugene Snyder at home; one daughter, Pearl Watkins and husband Stephen, Mount Savage; one son-in-law, William Pratt, Mount Savage; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hymes officiating.
Interment will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Mount Savage.
Pallbearers will be Greg Snyder, Douglas Snyder, George Watkins, Harold Watkins, Billy Pratt, and John Pratt.
LAWRENCE M. WINEBRENNER SR.
HIALEAH, Fla. -- Lawrence Murray Winebrenner Sr., formerly of Slabtown and Zihlman Md., died peacefully in bed at 11:58 a.m. July 24, 2001 at Epworth Village Retirement Community in Hialeah, at the age of 92 years and 25 days.
He was pre-deceased by three former wives, Mary Marguerite "Margie" Martin of Beaufort S.C., Marie Virginia McKinzie of Slabtown, and Francis Brown Sasser of Venice. He is the son of Flora Blanche Martens Winebrenner of Wellersburg, Pa., and Lawrence W. Winebrenner of Slabtown. Four sisters, Peggy Helmick, Jane Dorman, Marie Caughey, and Virginia Lee, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sisters, Anna Lillian in Honey Grove Texas, Roberta Violet McGuire of Frostburg Md., and Rose Alice Hobbes of Florida; and a brother, Victor Martin Winebrenner of Orlando.
He has four living children, Lawrence Murray Winebrenner Jr. of Opa Locka, Kay Anita Oleson of Thanatosassa, Jack Martin Winebrenner of St. Petersburg, and Michael Winebrenner of Lavale Md. He had eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Winebrenner was in the construction trade for over 50 years when he retired in 1974. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps for nine years, including five years during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was on Guam when the war ceased. He owned and operated the Winebrenner Construction Company for a number of years and built houses for several residents in the area.
Mr. Winebrenner was an active church member. He attended Mt. Savage Methodist Church as a boy and was still an active member of Miami First United Methodist Church in Florida until his death. His Pastor, the Rev. Joe Teague, will conduct a memorial service at Epworth Village Retirement Community Chapel in Hialeah at 10:15 a.m. August 8, 2001.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Florida Conference Children's Home in Enterprise FL. Donations may be sent directly to the home orthrough the Chaplain's Office at Epworth Village Retirement Community, 5300 W 16 Ave., Hialeah FL 33012.
ROBERT E. HUTSON
FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- Robert Eugene Hutson, 75, husband of Isabelle (Robertson) Hutson of 109 Devon Road, Staunton, died July 26, 2001, in the Augusta Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., a son of Oswald John and Anna Pearl (Adams) Hutson.
Mr. Hutson was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the Staunton Police Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William J. Hutson.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. Jr. and Hyun-Ju Hutson of Dale City, and Gary W. and Linda Hutson of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Anna and Danny L. Allen of Staunton; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Cliff Evans of Ridgeley, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

EUGENE "STONEY" SMITH JR.
OAKLAND -- Eugene "Stoney" Smith Jr., 51, of Oakland, died Friday, at Garret County Memorial Hospital, Oakland
Born May 31, 1950, in Blaine, W.Va., he was a son of Eugene Smith Sr. of Swanton and the late Christine (McCloud) Smith. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger "Rocky" Smith and George "Jake" Smith.
In addition to his father he is survived by three sons, Jerrery A. Smith, Pasadena, Shawn D. Smith, and William E. Smith, both of Kitzmiller; one daughter, Connie Marie Sugars, Westernport; three brothers, Timothy Smith, Oakland, Gerald Smith, Swanton, and John "Little John" Smith, Oakland; one sister, Sylvia Guthrie, Oakland, and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. at the HiWay Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery.
Memorials should be directed to the family.
DORIS E. PERRIN
LAVALE -- Doris Elaine Perrin, 64, of 77 LaVale Court, LaVale, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 28, 1937, in Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond Crawford and Mary Ora (Bussard) Crawford. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Homer Crawford, 1975.
Mrs. Perrin was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1955. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of Prosperity Christian Church, Clearville, where she was very active in their many events and also served as their pianist. Doris served as secretary/treasurer for the LaVale Court Inprovement Association and was an election judge at Parkside School.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel W. Perrin; a son, Dwight W. Perrin and wife Selina, Cumberland; three daughters, Diana L. Perrin-Haney and husband Randy, Jacksonsville, Fla., Debra S. Twigg and husband Christopher and Denise E. Hare and husband David, both of Clearville; two brothers, Nial Crawford and wife Freda, Lancaster, Clair Crawford, Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Thelma Defibaugh and Robena Fowler and husband John, both of Frederick; nine grandchildren, Amber and Susan Twigg, both of Clearville, Joshua and Robert Perrin, both of Cumberland, Daniel Smith and Destiny Haney, both of Jacksonville, Ashley, Kayla, and Shayna Hare, all of Clearville.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mrs. Perrin will be taken to Prosperity Christian Church, Clearville, on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Services will be conducted at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Miller, the Rev. Ray Mallow, and the Rev. M.W. Nesselrodt officiating.
Interment will be in Prosperity Christian Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dave Hare, Chris Twigg, John Fowler, Roger Defibaugh, Fred Perrin, and Steve Perrin.
IRVING G. WESCOTT JR.
PURGITSVILLE, W.Va. -- Irving Gordon Wescott Jr., 56, of HC 86 Box 183, Purgitsville, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on Oct. 15, 1944 at Washington, D.C., he was a son of Carrie L. (Woodard) Wescott of Purgitsville, and the late Irving Gordon Wescott Sr. who died in 1994.
Mr. Wescott was formerly employed as a history teacher in Maine and in the Salisbury Md. area. He was a member of the White Pine Church of the Brethren, Purgitsville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Anne Wescott, Purgitsville. A large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Allen Murlin officiating.
Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
JUNIOR H. "DUTCH" KENNELL
CRESAPTOWN -- Junior Hobart "Dutch" Kennell, 75, of Cresaptown, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at home.
Born Jan. 14, 1926, in Kennells Mill, he was a son of the late Erma Edna (Lepley) and Hobart James Kennell.
Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Dorothy Mae (LeMasters); brothers, Homer Kennell, Hyndman, Wayne Kennell and Gerald Kennell, both of Myersdale; and a sister, Helen Kennell, Myersdale, also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Merle Kennell who died in 1999.
Mr. Kennell was a retired heavy equipment operator. He retired from Cumberland Concrete with 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran and member of The Teamsters Union, American Legion Post 0024 and Frostburg Loyal Order Of the Moose.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, with the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
