MARY M. COSGROVE
FROSTBURG -- Mary Martha Cosgrove, 73, of Frostburg, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Mrs. Cosgrove was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Akron, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Gorman G. Jenkins and Grace (Broadwater) Jenkins Long. She also was preceded in death by her step-father, Clarence L. Long, and one brother, Otis Odell Jenkins.
Surviving are her husband, Francis X. "Jobie" Cosgrove; one daughter, Dr. Mary Anne Jenkins and husband Brian; one son, John Francis Cosgrove; one sister, Phyllis Miller and husband Darius; and two brothers, Paul Jenkins and wife Alice and Wayne Jenkins and wife Doret, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a homemaker and member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mrs. Cosgrove's nephews, Michael T. Cosgrove, G. Patrick Cosgrove, Michael A. Cosgrove, Richard P. Jenkins, Kevin Jenkins and Ray S. Miller.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to St. Michael's School. She will be missed by so many.
ROY J. MCCABE
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Roy James McCabe, 75, of Keyser, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 25, 1926, on Green Ridge, he was the son of the late Michael Edward and Effie Stella (Hartman) McCabe. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. McCabe's life touched many others in his time here. He was owner of the R. L. Murray Agency, Keyser from 1971 to 1988 after working for Peoples Life Insurance Company for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was Chairman of the Mineral County Red Cross for 35 years, President of the Keyser Rotary Club (1982-1983), as well as a 29 year member and a Paul Harris Fellow, past Chancellor of the Olive Branch Knights of Pythias, past Grand Chancellor and Grand Treasurer of the State of West Virginia Knights of Pythias for many years. He was a former Trustee of Eastern Christian College, past Elder and charter member of the Winifred Road Church of Christ, Cumberland. Mr. McCabe was also one of the founding Directors and Treasurer of Tri-State Christian Service Camp, where he remained active until the time of his death. He was instrumental in the construction of many of the building projects at the camp. He was an avid woodworker and hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Nola Fern (Hiett) McCabe; one daughter, Roxie Bittner and husband Robert, Cary, N.C.; two sons, Michael McCabe and wife Earlene, Martinsburg, Chris McCabe and wife Karen, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Rachael Bittner, Erin Martin, both of Holly Springs, N.C., Sarah McCabe and Michael McCabe II, both of Martinsburg, and Connor McCabe, Cumberland; three sisters, Arveda Piper, Oldtown, Effie Slider, Annapolis, Viola Jesson and husband Eldon, Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Raymond McCabe and wife Reta, Hagerstown, and George McCabe and wife Angela, Taberg, N.Y.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor John R. Herbst, the Rev. Merle Correll and Pastor Roger Tuning officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests memorials be made to either the Scholarship fund of the Winifred Road Church of Christ or Tri-State Christian Service Camp.
MARY M. AMMONS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. -- Mary Margaret Ammons, 69, of Fort Ashby, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 15, 1931 in Bowling Green, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward and Ruth Rebecca (Berry) Lease. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Lease.
Mrs. Ammons was a member of the Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Frederick Ammons; one daughter, Mary Louise Bunner, Cumberland; three brothers, William D. Lease, Cockeysville, David E. Lease and wife Mary, Cumberland, George C. Lease and wife Dottie, Slanesville; four sisters, Eleanor L. Gillespie, Cumberland, Dottie C. Simpson and husband Buddy, Betty P. Metz and husband Terry, and Sandra K. McDonald, all of Cresaptown; one grandson, Paul E. Bunner; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and niece, Michael and Chris Ammons.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A. 202 Greene St., Cumberland, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David F. Dayhoff officiating.
Interment will be in the Lease Cemetery.

ROSE M. DAVIS
CUMBERLAND -- Rose Mary Davis, 40, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home.
Born Jan. 13, 1961, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of James Henry Sanker, Allegany County Nursing Home and Roberta (Davis) Rose, Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Stella Davis.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Landaker officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
THE REV. JOHN TETER
NORFOLK, Va. -- The Rev. John Teter, 89, a retired Methodist Minister, of Virginia Beach, died Aug. 5, 2001 in Virginia Beach Hospital.
The Rev. Teter was born Sept. 26, 1911 at Whitmer, W.Va., the son of Opha B. and Texie A. Teter. He married
Jane Evelyn Daily, May 1, 1943 at Rest, W.Va. Mrs. Teter preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1979.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Jane T. Basnight and her husband Preston of Chesapeake and Mary Sue Woods and her husband Jeff of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, John Basnight and his wife Tysh and Elisabeth Basnight all of Chesapeake, Lisa Woods and Bill Woods, both of Virginia Beach.
The Rev. Teter was a graduate of Ridgeley, W.Va., High School, Randolph-Macon College in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also graduated from the Westminster Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. in 1944, with a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree. He served in many capacities on the District and Conference level. Following his retirement he served for several years as the Associate Pastor at Baylake United Methodist Church. He was also recognized as Pastor Emeritus of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church in Norfolk.
The Rev. Teter was ordained a deacon in 1943 and elder in 1945 in the United Methodist Church. He served the following churches as minister, North Charge in Frederick County, 1941-1943, Montague Ave., Winchester, 1943-1947, Franconia and Lincolnia Churches, Alexandria, 1947-1951, Warrenton, 1951-1955, Cottage Place, 1955-1957, Crewe 1957-1960, Oaklette in Chesapeake 1960-1965, Main Street in Suffolk 1965-1969, Miles Memorial in Norfolk, 1969-1975, and Trinity in Smithfield 1975-1977.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Tidwater Drive Chapel on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Miles Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Shappell officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

MARY J. WEDDLE
FLINTSTONE -- Mary Jane Weddle, 93, formerly of National Pike, Flintstone, then a resident of the Devlin Manor Nursing Home, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001 in Memorial Hospital.
Born July 24, 1908 in Rawlings, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Blanche (Smith) Shipway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Weddle, whom died on Oct. 21, 1982; four sons, one daughter, and one sister.
Mrs. Weddle was a member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are two sons, Lester Weddle of Flintstone, and Frederick Weddle of Arden, N.C.; three daughters, Phyllis Ault of White Stone, Va., Clarice Williams of White Stone and Beverly Wagoner of Gainsville, Fla. Mrs. Weddle is also suvived by 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be recieved at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday Aug. 10, 2001 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ervin Mason officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

IRVING G. WESCOTT JR.
PURGITSVILLE, W.Va. -- Irving Gordon Wescott Jr., 56, of HC 86 Box 183, Purgitsville, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on Oct. 15, 1944 at Washington, D.C., he was a son of Carrie L. (Woodard) Wescott of Purgitsville, and the late Irving Gordon Wescott Sr. who died in 1994.
Mr. Wescott was formerly employed as a history teacher in Maine and in the Salisbury Md. area. He was a member of the White Pine Church of the Brethren, Purgitsville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Anne Wescott, Purgitsville. A large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Allen Murlin officiating.
Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
