RUTH W. JAMES
MIDLOTHIAN -- Ruth W. James, 94, formerly of Midlothian, Frostburg Heights Apartments, and St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Facility went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2001.
Born Nov. 5, 1906, in Midlothian, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Adelia (Smith) James. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil W. James, Albert C. James, Gerald James, Clive W. James; one sister, Gertrude N. James; and a niece, Betty Preston who died in August of 1995.
Ms. James graduated from Beall High School in 1925, and Frostburg Normal School in 1927. She taught for several years in Garrett County. She retired from Celanese Fibers Corporation with 40 years of service and was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.
Surviving are two nieces, Adelia R. McKenzie and husband Harvey, Frostburg, Grace Mann of Sedalia, Mo.; four nephews, Winston C. James and wife Violet, Grand Junction, Colo., Albert F. James and wife Dorothy, Rawlings, Samuel C. James and wife Mary Lee, Aberdeen, and Roger D. James and wife Geraldine, Fall River, Mass.; and two very special friends Dotty Opel and Mary Brode.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian with the Rev. Jimmie Blair officiating, assisted by the Rev. T. William Preston and her nephew Samuel James.
Her body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be all nephews, Albert James, Samuel James, Roger James, Dale McKenzie, Gary Edwards, and Matthew James.
ELIZABETH A. BOWERS WALSH
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Elizabeth Arvada Bowers Walsh, 71, of Walsh Road, Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Graham Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth (Winebrenner) Bowers.
Mrs. Walsh was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard James "Dick" Walsh; one daughter, Lou Ann Shaffer and husband John "Bill", Mount Savage; one brother, William Mack Bowers and wife Dolores, Frostburg; a special friend, Marilyn Evans and husband Sam, Midlothian; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Harpold and Sister Joan Minella, S.S.N.D., officiating.
Interment will be in the Saint Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Mount Savage.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Rice, Dale Weir, Bill Pratt, Carl "Brownie" Mulligan, Gerald "Bugs" Walsh, and Tom Winebrenner.

MARY C. KELLEY
PIEDMONT, W.Va. -- Mary C. Kelley, 62, formerly of Piedmont and New Creek, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Moran Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Piedmont in Sept. 6, `938 and was the daughter of the late Larry Ierace and Leota Dye. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor L. Crawford; a son, Randy Crawford; and a sister, Violet Elbon.
Mrs. Kelley was Protestant by faith. She was a former member of the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
She is survived by a husband, Thomas Kelley; and two sons, Keith D. Crawford and wife Shelly of Piedmont and David R. Crawford of Piedmont; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda L. Shimer and fiancé David Bonsal of Baltimore and Glenda Lannon and husband Patrick of Laureldale; one sister, Josephine Bennett of Cumberland. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Derrick and Corey Shimer of Baltimore, Kacie and Jimmy Lee Crawford of Piedmont, Robert and Mary C. Hamilton of Laureldale and Allison and Andrew Crawford of New Creek.
The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at the Fredlock Funeral Home at 11 a.m. The Revs. Larry Shrout and Ada Kittle officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser.

LAVALE -- Joseph E. Strickland, 66, of 12310 Henry Drive SW, LaVale, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at his home.
The Cumberland Elks BPOE 63 will conduct a service at Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday at 8:15 p.m.
ARNOLD R. TICHNELL SR.
CUMBERLAND -- Arnold Richard Tichnell Sr., 69, of 600 Shriver Ave., Cumberland, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital Special Care Unit.
Born July 5, 1932, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Arnold Parker Tichnell and Mary Elizabeth (Nelson) Tichnell.
Mr. Tichnell was retired from the Labor Local 616. He was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 245.
He is survived by his wife, Helen A. (Thompson) Tichnell, Cumberland; three sons, Arnold R. Tichnell Jr. and wife Danita, Robert P. Tichnell and wife Cathy, James E. Tichnell and wife Trisha, all of Cumberland; four daughters, Deborah A. Paquette and husband David, Plymouth, Mass. H. Pamela Zapp and husband Edward, Cumberland, Lisa M. Apsey and husband Troy, Cresaptown, Lori A. Kelly and husband Tim, Courtland, Va.; two sisters, Ollie Custer and husband Charles, Barton, Mary Beeman, Frostburg; and 15 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

HELEN B. KNEPP
HAGERSTOWN -- Helen Burall Knepp, 88, of 18320 Ranch Road, Hagerstown, died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Hose, Calif.
Born June 16, 1913, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late John Perry and Mary Meanyhan Burall. She is the widow of John Shannon Knepp who died in 1997.
She was employed with the Celanese Corporation in Cumberland for 16 years, retiring in 1950.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans and was a member of the Altar Guild.
She was Prat Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mountain Chapter 15 in Frostburg and Queen Esther Chapter 3 in Hagerstown. She was also a member of the Lappans Homemaker Club.
She is survived by one son, John B. Knepp in San Hose, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Olive Rice, Lillian Rippeon, and Delores Burall; and one brother, Ellsworth Burall.
The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 by the Eastern Star.

ALEDA S. (BUSKIRK) WILSON
CUMBERLAND -- Aleda Sue (Buskirk) Wilson, 37, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001.
Born Dec. 25, 1963, in Greenbelt, she was the daughter of Darla (Sites) Hillegas and husband James, Cumberland and Charles W. Buskirk and wife Margaret, Hopemills, N.C. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Elaine Barkovic and Martha Mitchell Buskirk.
Mrs. Wilson was a product specialist for Pactiv in Winchester and was an employee of Kline's Restaurant in LaVale. She was a member of the Republican Club. Aleda graduated from Keyser High School. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching Josh play ball, and family outings with Ben and Jo Jo. She also enjoyed spending time with many friends.
Surviving in addition to her parents are three sons, Joshua Covalt, Cumberland, Benjamin Covalt, New Brighton, Pa., Joseph Ray, Reistertown; grandfather, Charles Buskirk Sr.; two sisters, Sherry Kline and husband Kenneth, Krista Whiteman and husband Kenneth, all of Cumberland; two step-brothers, Lawrence Yoho, Fla., Joseph Yoho, Pa; one step-sister, Tina Rouse, N.C.; two nieces, Andrea Whetzel, MaKayla Whiteman; one nephew, Drew Whetzel, all of Cumberland; aunts and uncles, Donald and Carol Metz, Keyser, Linda and Donald Raines, Westernport, Nancy Sites and Terry Johnson, Beaver, Pa.; cousins, Leigh Ann Metz, Keyser, Lindsay Jackson and Jeffrey McKenzie, Beaver; special friends, Missy Ramhoff and Linda Shoemaker, and many other family members and dear friends.
