HENRY MILLER
OWINGS MILLS -- Henry "Marvin" Miller, Owings Mills, Maryland, 66, died Aug. 4, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 20, 1934 in Lonaconing. The son of the late Louis and Janet Miller.
He retired from the Social Security Administration in 1986, member of the Westminster Moose Lodge, VFW Post, 82nd Airborne Division, and Sacred Heart Church.
He married
Genevieve Gracie in Frostburg on Oct. 3, 1957.
Surviving are his wife, Genevieve; daughter, Janet Murray of Meyersdale, Pa; son, Marvin Miller and his wife Karen Bosley Miller of Finksburg; five grandchildren, Eric, Jarrod and Meredith Murray, David and Dominique Miller; brother, Donald Miller of Fallston; three sisters, Bernice Nelson of Frostburg, Janet Lee Andrathy of Belair, and Catherine Ridenour of Mount Airy.
A celebration of his life will be held on Aug. 11 at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, Md. at 11a.m.
Cremated at his request, interment will be in Levels, W. Va. at the Miller's summer home on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 11a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted towards a memorial in West Virginia.
RUTH W. JAMES
MIDLOTHIAN -- Ruth W. James, 94, formerly of Midlothian, Frostburg Heights Apartments, and St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Facility went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2001.
Born Nov. 5, 1906, in Midlothian, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Adelia (Smith) James. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil W. James, Albert C. James, Gerald James, Clive W. James; one sister, Gertrude N. James; and a niece, Betty Preston who died in August of 1995.
Ms. James graduated from Beall High School in 1925, and Frostburg Normal School in 1927. She taught for several years in Garrett County. She retired from Celanese Fibers Corporation with 40 years of service and was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.
Surviving are two nieces, Adelia R. McKenzie and husband Harvey, Frostburg, Grace Mann of Sedalia, Mo.; four nephews, Winston C. James and wife Violet, Grand Junction, Colo., Albert F. James and wife Dorothy, Rawlings, Samuel C. James and wife Mary Lee, Aberdeen, and Roger D. James and wife Geraldine, Fall River, Mass.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Two very special friends, Dotty Opel and Mary Brode; and many friends and neighbors who treated her dearly.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian with the Rev. Jimmie Blair officiating, assisted by the Rev. T. William Preston and her nephew Samuel James.
Her body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be all nephews, Albert James, Samuel James, Roger James, Dale McKenzie, Gary Edwards, and Matthew James.
ALEDA S. WILSON
CUMBERLAND -- Friends for Aleda Sue Wilson will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
EDWARD A. INGRAM
CUMBERLAND -- Edward Amos "Ham" Ingram, 77, of Willow Valley Apartments, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Feb. 15, 1924, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry Ingram and Margaret (McGraw) Ingram Longerbeam. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Eva M. Groves; and two brothers, William J. Ingram and Donald E. Longerbeam.
Mr. Ingram was a former employee of the B&O Railroad. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Surviving are one brother, Walter W. Ingram; two sisters, Evelyn C. Day, and Ella R. Snyder and husband John Samuel, all of Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral and interment services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Frank E. Lloyd officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
RAYMOND R. BECKNER
WESTERNPORT -- Raymond Russell Beckner, 73, of 102 Kalbaugh St., Westernport, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born in Westernport, on March 7, 1928, he was the son of the late Harry T. and Nellie (Crable) Beckner. His wife, Veronica E. (Winner) Beckner in 1997 also preceded him in death.
Mr. Beckner was a United States Marine Corp. and Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Westvaco Corp. with 45 years of service, having been a Supervisor in the machine shop. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, a member and Past Grand Knight of Piedmont Council 685 Knights of Columbus, a Past Faithful Navigator of Chief Justice Taney General Assembly, a member and Past Commander of Victory Post 155 American Legion, Westernport, and Past Mountian District Commander of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Mount Lodge 40, and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Beckner and wife Etta of Cumberland, Joseph Beckner and wife Margie of Lonaconing, Tom Beckner and wife Rhonda of Westernport; two daughters, Linda Davis-Kyle and husband Gene of Barton, and Janet Morris and husband Jim of Westernport; one brother, Harry T. Beckner Jr. and wife Virginia of Rawlings; one sister, Shirley Duke of Tampa, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Zais, Heather Beckner, James Likens, Al Beckner, Cassie Morris, Eric Morris, Megan Beckner, Josh Beckner, Luke Beckner, and Aaron Beckner; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Brandon Zais; a special friend, Betty Hunter of Frostburg; and his special golfing buddies.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded at graveside by the combined veterans organizations.
The Knights of Columbus will conduct a Christian Wake Service at the funeral home on Friday at 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Church Capital Improvement Fund.
CLARA M. FORBECK
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- Clara Maxine Forbeck, 60, of 43 Potomac St., Ridgeley, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Washington Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Oct. 4, 1940, in Chorau, Mont., she was the daughter of the late Floyd McFarlane and Clara (Parker) McFarlane.
Mrs. Forbeck was retired from the Home Health Care Unit at Memorial Hospital and she was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Forbeck Sr., Ridgeley; two sons, James D. Bone and wife Carole, Beaverdam, Va., Donald G. "Duck" Forbeck Jr., Cumberland; two daughters, Jeri L. Jackson, Cumberland, Carmen Baker and husband Jim, Springfield, W.Va.; a brother, Keith McFarlane and wife Delpha, Fairfield, Mont.; a sister, Mary L. Jackson and husband Allen, Fairfield, Mont.; seven grandchildren, Autumn Baker, who resided with her grandparents, Brandi and David Gennaro, Orlando, Fla., Matthew and Aleasha Baker, Springfield, Gary Anderson, Cumberland, Christian and Clara Maxine Bone, Beaverdam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul E. Deitz officiating.
WILLIAM "SCOTTIE" MORELAND
AUGUSTA, W.Va. -- William "Scottie" Moreland, 30, of RR 1, Box 18A, Augusta, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001 as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Born March 8, 1971 in Winchester, Va., he was the son of William G. Moreland and Anna V. Williams Moreland of Augusta.
He was an employee of Federal Mogul, Winchester. He was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne and served in Desert Storm.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, William Drayk Moreland of Romney; one brother, Kelly Long of Winchester; three sisters, Teresa Evans and husband Kevin of Romney, Chris Dunlap and husband Jeff of Winchester, Stacie Kinnie and husband Richie of Romney; two nephews, Kyle Evans and Tyler Long; two nieces, Brooke Dunlap and Lindsey Dunlap; and his paternal grandfather, William T. Moreland of Oakland.
He was preceded in death by one niece, Carree Evans.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McKee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at 11 a.m.. in the McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, with the Rev. Douglas Shepherd and Kevin Evans officiating. The family has requested to dress casual while attending services on Saturday.
Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, Points. Military Rites will be accorded by Hampshire County Veterans Organization.
Pallbearers will be Allen Kesner, Bob Stachow, David Stewart, Perry Shingleton, Mitch Davis, Mark Kesner, and Jimmy Watring.
Memorials may be made to Michael Davis Benefit Fund, c/o Ruby Orndorff, P.O.D. 5133-7, Bank of Romney.
