BENJAMIN DANTE
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Benjamin Dante, 81, of Route 5, Box 460, Keyser, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Oct. 20, 1919, at Long Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late James and Mary (Tansi) Dante. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Dante.
Mr. Dante was a retired heavy equipment operator in the excavating and strip mining industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a life member of Nancy Hanks Post 3518 VFW, Keyser.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline M. (Staggs) Dante; two daughters, Brenda Shreve and husband Randy, Keyser, Pamela Iman and husband Pat, Romney; three sons, Donald Dante and wife Daphne, Keyser, Randy Dante and wife Cindy, Keyser, Lee Dante, Rio Rancho, N.M.; four brothers, George Dante, Long Island, Joseph Dante, Pittsburgh, Pa., Frank Dante, Rio Rancho, Peter Dante, Hagerstown; one sister, Grace White, Long Island; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyer Chapel, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Shrout officiating.
Interment will be in the Cabin Run Cemetery, Keyser.
DELORES L. MCCULLOUGH
CUMBERLAND -- Delores Louise "Dee" McCullough, 59, of 214 Central Ave., Cumberland, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
Born Dec. 20, 1941, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Imes and Mary Alice (Duckworth) Imes. She was also preceded by two sisters, Margaret Christion and Betty Decker.
Mrs. McCullough was a member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion Auxiliary and the Cumberland Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 245 Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Morgart and wife Barbara, with whom she resided, Lonaconing, Ronald Golliday and wife Jayme, LaVale; a daughter, Karen Morgart and special friend Regina Moore, Greenwood, Ark.; two brothers, Ronald Imes and wife Janet, Slanesville, W.Va., Robert (Red) Imes and wife Bonnie, Ridgeley; a sister, Velma Long, Wiley Ford; three grandchildren, Joshua Morgart, Dalton and Laney Golliday.

CAROL C. MILLER HOLLERN
MIDLAND -- Carol Corrine Miller Hollern, 69, of 14800 Broadway St., Midland, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born at Frostburg, on Dec. 25, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Jacob T. Miller and Lula Elizabeth (Salisbury) Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband John Jack Michael Hollern Jr., June 13, 1989; two brothers, Lee Miller, and Andrew Miller.
Mrs. Hollern was a nurses Aid at Shepherd-Pratt and Sacred Heart Hospital and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Midland and Senior Citizens of Georges Creek.
She is survived by her children, John Michael Hollern, Midland, Katherine Ann Brashear, Frostburg, Marlene Allen, Baltimore, Patrick Hollern, Midland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchild; four sisters, Mary Miller, Helen Lemon, Judy Warnick, Elsie Cutter, all of Lonaconing; four brothers, Harry Miller, LaVale, Jacob Miller, Port Deposit, Md., Paul Miller, Lonaconing, Glenn Miller, Lonaconing; and several nieces and nephews.
Her body is at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 9 a.m.. at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Midland with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.
A Christian wake service will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Sister Joan Maenner, O.S.F., Pastoral Life Director St. Josephs Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hollern will be cremated.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

ROBERT T. KESSEL SR.
SCHERR, W.Va. -- Robert T. Kessel Sr., 84, of Scherr, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at his home after an extended illness.
Born Feb. 25, 1917, in Scherr, he was the son of the late Edward O. and Emma (Patch) Kessel. Preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by an infant great-grandson, Dakota Dewayne Rohrbaugh; two brothers, Otis Kessel and Theodore Kessel; five sisters, Lula Kessel Sites, Ollie Kessel, Ethel Kessel, Helen Kessel Buckbee, and Opal Kessel Smith.
Mr. Kessel was a lifelong farmer at his home place. He retired from SCM/Allied Egry in Petersburg and worked for the B&O Railroad, Cumberland. He was a Fire Warden for the US Forest Service and member of the Brick Church of the Brethren, Scherr. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Genevieve Delores (Moreland) Kessel; three sons, Robert T. Kessel Jr., Scherr, Joey Dean Kessel, Scherr, Daniel Edward Kessel, Maysville; two daughters, Delores Elaine Rohrbaugh, Scherr, Barbara Louise Henderson, Ashland, Va.; one brother, Ohley C. Kessel, Maysville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Brick Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Robert Spaid officiating.
Burial will be in the Kessel Family Cemetery, Scherr.
Memorials may be made to Brick Church of the Brethren Building Fund, American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
MELVIN M. MARTIN SR.
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. -- Melvin Marion Martin Sr., 67, of Oak Ridge, and formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. Martin was raised in Fort Ashby, W.Va.
He was a retired Program Manager with Lockheed Martin, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. A member of First United Methodist Church and the American Society for Metal.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Margaret Perdew Martin; sons, Melvin Marion martin Jr. and wife Kathy of Kingston, Thomas Clane Martin of Oak Ridge.; daughters, Kristie Martin Zedler and husband Fred Zedler of Damascus, Md., Karol Martin Shaul and husband Andy Shaul of Collierville, Marie Lucille Martin of Oak Ridge and Susan Martin Wilson and husband Kelly Wilson Sr., of Bardstown, Ky.; one brother, Joseph William Martin Sr., Morgantown; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge with the Rev. Robert T. Cantrell Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

LADY LAKE, Fla. -- Thomas Shomo Gifford, 75, of 1147 W. Boone Court, Lady Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001.
Mr. Gifford was born in Hamilton, W.Va. then moved to Lady Lake, from Connellsville in 1989.
He was a Train Master for the CSX Railroad for 40 years. He attended Church On The Square. He was a member and Past Master of East Gate Lodge 216, Cumberland, Salem Council Royal Select Masters, Cumberland, Chapter Royal Arch Masons and Scottish Rite Bodies, Cumberland. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Alighan Shrine Temple, Cumberland.
Mr. Gifford is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Gifford, Lady Lake; a sister, Denese Cameron, Wiley Ford; a step-mother, Mary Kaylor, Ridgeley; and several nieces and nephews.
MARY J. MINKE
NEWARK, DEL. -- Mary Jane Minke, 87, of Newark, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, in Millcroft Healthcare Center, Newark.
She was the wife of the late C.C. Minke. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Phares and her husband L. Franklin Phares; her two grandchildren, Clifford Phares and Linsann Kaplan; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Norma McGinn. She was predeceased by her grandson, Shawn Phares.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Main and Chapel Streets, Newark, at 11 a.m. where friends may call after 10.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
