LELAND T. OURS

PETERSBURG, W.Va. -- Leland Thaddeus Ours, 89, of Petersburg, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born May 22, 1912, in Dorcas, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Arletta (Crites) Ours.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Feaster) Ours, May 25, 1997. Also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl E. Ours and Marlen Archie Ours; three sisters, Lola Ours, Ruth Belt, and Arletta Lease.

Mr. Ours was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Ours was a farmer, a livestock dealer and auctioneer. He had been associated with the South Branch Stockyards at Moorefield for 46 years where he served as clerk or auctioneer. He was a charter member of the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company and served as trustee of the Grant Memorial Hospital for 20 years. In 1956, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Potomac Valley Bank, Petersburg, and retired as chairman in 1998 after 42 years. He was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Leland Thad Ours and wife Nancy, Petersburg, C. Fred Ours and wife Carol, Petersburg; four grandsons, Joshua Ours, Tad Ours, Brian Ours, and Jeremy Ours; and four great-grandsons, Dalton Ours, Kandice Ours, Libby Ours, and Joseph Ours.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. Richard L. Longbon officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Memorials may be made to Burlington United Methodist Family Services or charity of choice.

RAYMOND E. PRYOR

CUMBERLAND -- Funeral services for Raymond E. Pryor will be conducted at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard at Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Jason Lancaster, David Lancaster, Nicholas Pryor, Norman White, Howard Peer, and Ray Butts.

RUTH R. MICHAEL

FROSTBURG -- Ruth R. Michael, 99, of Frostburg, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 8, 1901, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Graham) Winebrenner. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harry Michael; two daughters, Vivian Stewart, and Ruth Sokol; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Michael and Robert Stewart; and one brother and four sisters.

Mrs. Michael was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a 53 year member of American Legion Auxiliary Farrady Unit 24.

Surviving are one son, Ralph Michael and wife Juanita, Carpendale, W.Va.; two daughters, Evelyn Robertson and husband Wayne, Frostburg and Catherine Sokol, Canton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 19 great great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St. Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The American Legion Auxiliary Farrady Unit 24 will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald F. Sause officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

CLEO C. WILKINS

FROSTBURG -- Cleo Catherine Wilkins, 94, formerly of Luke, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, where she had been a resident.

Born at Bayard, W.Va., on Oct. 28, 1906, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Moreland) Harvey. Her husband, Elwood Wilkins in 1969; a daughter, Elizabeth Blizzard; a sister, Wilma Wilkins, and a brother, Atwood Harvey also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wilkins was a homemaker. She was a member of LaVale Assembly of God Church, LaVale, where she was former Assemblies Mission Leader, and played an important part in their single's club. Mrs. Wilkins also taught Sunday School for many years at First Assembly of God Church, Westernport. She was a Red Cross volunteer, having worked as a Grey Lady for blood drives.

Surviving her are two daughters, Betty Kyle and husband the Rev. Alvin of Mount Lake Park, Doris Rexrode and husband Elmer of Rawlings Heights; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Marks, Richard Blizzard, Rebecca Blizzard, Carolyn Hollingsworth, Mark Kyle, Kendra Beckman, Patricia Corley, and Susan Hartsock; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Schuessler officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

WALLACE H. BIGGS

BURTONSVILLE -- Wallace H. Biggs, 82, of Burtonsville, formerly of Westernport, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at his residence

Born Oct. 9, 1918, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Herbert Luther Biggs and Jessie Mae (Miller) Biggs.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley M. Whipp, and three brothers, Clarence H. Biggs, Harry L. Biggs, and Gene E. Biggs.

He served in the U.S., Air Force during World War II. Mr. Biggs retired from the Washington Sanitation Commission, where he was an engineer. He was a member of the Liberty Grove United Methodist Church, Laurel Wreath Lodge 149 A.F. and A.M., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Bodies, Boumi Shrine Temple, Victory Post 155, American Legion, Queens Point Memorial Post 6775, V.F.W., and the Distinguished Flying Cross Association.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Kalbaugh) Biggs; one sister, Mary Louise Biggs, Westernport; two brothers, Charles Biggs and wife Joan, Westernport, and Royland Biggs and wife Sarah, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Laurel Wreath Lodge 149 A.F. and A.M., will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral services will be conducted from the Liberty Grove United Methodist Church, 15225 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Graveside rites will be conducted at the Philos cemetery on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Military honors will be accorded by the local combined veterans honor guard.

JOYCE E. WILSON

FROSTBURG -- Joyce Elaine Wilson, 61, of Elklick Road, Frostburg, (Gilmore), died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital Emergency Room.

Born at Frostburg, on April 12, 1940, a daughter of the late John Duncan Walker and Margaret Rachael (Beeman) Walker. preceded in death by her husband Frank Wilson.

Former employee of Allegany County Board of Education as custodian at Beall High School. Member of Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.

Surviving are two sons, James Walker, at home, John Wilson, Concord, N.C.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Shearer, Calif., Margaret Gully, Ohio, Wilma Petenbrink, Del.; two brothers, Thomas Walker, Calif., William Walker, Fla.; also a very special aunt, Schelotta Beeman, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends received at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. George Loar officiating.

Body will be cremated, Inurnment in Frostburg Memorial Park.
