FREDERICK W. DILGARD
Frederick W. Dilgard, 61, Hackensack, N.J., formerly of Oakland, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 28, 1938, in Cumberland, he was a son of Ethel R. (Rinker) Dilgard, Oakland, and the late Roman K. Dilgard.
He was employed by the Allied Printing Co., Hackensack, for 29 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a 1956 graduate of Southern High School.
Survivors include one daughter, Angelia M. Nicolello, Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Elizabeth Taylor, Hanover, Pa., and Jacqueline Hawley, Mannheim, Pa.; two brothers, Ronald Dilgard, Baltimore, and R. Victor Dilgard, Oakland; and two grandchildren.
An interment service for his cremains will be conducted at the Pope Cemetery, Gorman, on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Samuel Moore officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.
EARL C. KIGHT
Earl C. Kight, 59, Mtn. Lake Park, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of Mary V. (Jordan) Kight, Oakland, and the late Clinton G. Kight.
He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Washington, D.C., and worked as a correctional officer for the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Oakland Lodge 2481, BPO Elks.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, N. Ann (Stump) Kight; four stepchildren; and one sister, Cassandra A. Stewart, Oakland.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, where a service was conducted earlier today, Sept. 9, with the Rev. Fr. Chip Lee officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
Oakland Lodge 2481, BPOE, conducted a memorial service Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

ROBERT L. LYONS
Robert Lewis Lyons, 78, Grantsville, formerly of Kitzmiller, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at the Meyersdale (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born March 4, 1921, in Elk Garden, W.Va., he was the son of the late Wesley and Margaret (Runyon) Lyons. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary M. (Shillingburg) Lyons.
He was retired from Westvaco Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the board of directors of Garrett County Community Action. He was a member of the Hiram Lodge 103 and the Kitzmiller Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Fike; one son, Robert Lyons, Frederick; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted Sunday, Sept. 5, with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden.
LOUISE M. HICKEY
Louise 'Weese' Mattingly Hickey, 93, Washington, D.C., and Deep Creek Lake, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital.
She was born in Remington, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Albert N. Hickey.
She received her bachelor of arts degree from Barnard College and her master’s degree in history from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. During World War II she was a supervisor and editor for the U.S. Maritime Commission. She was also a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served as a guild and vestry member.
Survivors include one sister, Dr. Eleanor Littlepage; one daughter, Margaret French; one goddaughter, Megan Shaw; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the All Saints Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m.

ALBERT D. STEWART
Albert D. Stewart, 72, Frostburg, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 10, 1927, in Terra Alta, W.Va., he was a son of the late Lewis Lee and Mabel Virginia (Heath) Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty H. Stewart, on Jan. 30, 1998; one son, Daniel Lee Stewart; three sisters, Geraldine Baker, Margaret Stewart, and Pauline Stewart; two brothers, Paul Stewart and Chester 'Duke' Stewart; and one grandson.
He was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He was a former member of the Goodfellowship Club and the Redmen Lodge Sioux Tribe, Cumberland.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie A. Hebb, Cumberland, and Cynthia J. (Collins) Weslow, Frostburg; three sisters, Betty Nair, Cumberland, Ruth Nair, Oldtown, and Mary Goss, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; two brothers, Joe Stewart, Philadelphia, Pa., and Donald Stewart, Oakland; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 7, with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
WILMA R. LAMBERT
Wilma R. Lambert, 91, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 17, 1908, in Terra Alta, she was a daughter of the late Guy A. and Della (Hebb) Bell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George J. Lambert, in 1972; and two sons, Franklin Lambert and Clifford Lambert.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Hise, Oakland, and Gladys Shaffer, Corinth, W.Va.; one brother, Paul V. Bell, Cumberland; one sister, Rosaline Shell, Marshalltown, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

LOUISE M. CERVI
Louise Marie Cervi, 95, McHenry, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at her home.
Born April 17, 1904, in Turin, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Mautino. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cervi, in 1988, and one grandson.
She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Irwin (Pa.) Senior Citizens and the Italian Daughters of America in Hahntown, Pa.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene E. 'Pete' Cervi, McHenry, and Robert E. Cervi, Irwin; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 7, with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Irwin.

WILLIAM J. SCHROYER
William J. Schroyer, 84, Pasadena, formerly of Friendsville, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at his home.
He was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Friendsville.
He lived in Glen Burnie prior to moving to Pasadena 13 years ago. He worked as a shop foreman for Baltimore Gas & Electric for more than 30 years and retired in 1980.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Viola Schroyer; two sons, Floyd Schroyer, Pasadena, and Edward Schroyer, Eldersburg; two daughters, Anne Marie Anderson, Harper’s Ferry, W.Va., and Thelma Bensavage, Pasadena; one brother, Paul Schroyer, Friendsville; two sisters, Katherine Thomas, Friendsville, and Birdie Smith, Baltimore; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stallings Funeral Home, Pasadena, where a service was conducted Saturday, Aug. 21, with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Interment was in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie.

IRENE L. CANAN
Irene Louise Canan, 65, Warren, Ohio, formerly of Hutton, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Southside Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio.
Born June 7, 1934, in Hutton, she was a daughter of the late Edgel P. and Estafee E. (Jackson) Sereno. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Canan, on Sept. 26, 1970.
She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, Warren, where she taught Sunday School for 15 years. She worked in the kitchen at St. Vincent & Depaul Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, James E. Canan, Niles, Ohio, and Brian Canan, Warren; four sisters, Eleanor J. Gallagher, West Lafayette, Ohio, Betty L. Davis, Newton Falls, Ohio, and Helen 'Susie' Roth and Jackie E. Sereno, both of Oakland; and two brothers, Edgel E. Sereno, Potomac, and Thomas E. Sereno, Oakland.

EVA M. DAVIS
Eva Mae Davis, 87, Oakland, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 29, 1916, in Terra Alta, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late R. Earl and Ada (Smith) Nordeck.
She was a former employee of the First United National Bank and Trust of Oakland, a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Oakland, where she taught Church School for many years, and was active in the Naomi Circle of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Richard L. Davis; two daughters, Geraldine Lane, Sun City Center, Fla., and Brenda Teets, Jupiter, Fla.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 8, with the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
