R. LARRY FAIRLEY
RAWLINGS -- R. Larry Fairley, 66, of Rawlings, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Born on Oct. 16, 1934, in Frostburg, he was the son of Myrtle (Barrick) Pugh, Roanoke, Va., and the late James Pugh. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sally P. Moore.
Larry served in the Korean Conflict as a Navy Corpsman and stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was Scout Executive, Boy Scouts of America. He spent 53 years with the Boy Scouts of America having received various training awards, Wood Badge, Vigil Award of the Order of Arrow and the Silver Beaver Award. He was material manager for various hospitals. He was a graduate of Roanoke College with a B.B.A. and M.B.A. from Phillips University, Enid, Okla.
Larry was active in Frostburg Moose Lodge #348, was past govenor, district and state officer of the Loyal Order of the Moose, McCoole, V.F.W., past local, district and state officer. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Anita C. "Sparky" Fairley; two sons, Jeffrey B. Fairley, Frederick, and R. Alan Fairley; one daughter, Sarah E. Fairley, both at home; one uncle, George Pugh, Frostburg; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
At his request, his body was donated to science and will be cremated.
Friends will be received at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Father Jack Lombardi as celebrant. Military honors will be accorded with the flag presentation done by Inspector and Instructor Staff, U.S.M.C. OF Frederick.
Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Potomac Council, Boy Scouts of America, 14416 McMullen Highway, SW, Cumberland, MD 21502. A trust fund will be established for camp scholarships.
The Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
JOHN J. LONG
CUMBERLAND -- John J. Long, 95, of Cumberland, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the Country House Residence.
Born June 11, 1906, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Peter H. and Fannie (Gorman) Long. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Witherup) Long, Jan. 10, 2000; one brother, George B. Long, and one sister, Marguerite Schwarzenbach.
Mr. Long was a former teacher, coach, and school administrator in Allegany County. He was a member of SS Peter Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Allegany County Board of Education. He was a member of the first Board of Directors of Allegany Community College and a founding member of Friends Aware.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan L. Clucas and husband Gregory, Gaithersburg; three sons, Michael P. Long and wife Beryl, Frederick, John Long Jr., and Stephen J. Long, both of Cumberland; one very special granddaughter, Margo E. Clucas, Wilmington, N.C.; four very special grandsons, John M. Long and wife Christa, William C. Long, all of Frederick, Gregory R. Clucas Jr. and wife Niki, Cary, N.C., and Christopher L. Clucas and wife Jamie, Pikesville, N.C.; four dearly beloved great-granddaughters, Marielle, Madison, and Bailey Long, and Caroline S. Clucas; two sisters-in-laws, Dorothy W. Claus, Charlotte, N.C., and Jean W. Bruce, Charleston, S.C.; a number of nieces and nephews; and one great-grandson that is expected any day.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Senan Glass, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.
Friends will be received at the church from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in SS Peter Paul Cemetery.

CECIL C. COX
WILEY FORD, W.Va. -- Cecil C. Cox, 74, of Wiley Ford, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1926, in Patterson Creek, he was the son of James R. Cox, Cumberland, and the late Susie L. (Baldwin) Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Puhalla) Cox; and one brother, James "Bill" Cox.
Mr. Cox was retired from the D.W. Stewart Potato Chips Company, LaVale. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. Cox and wife Carol, and David W. Cox and wife Kathryn, all of Cumberland.
At Mr. Cox's request his body was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Private inurnment services will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
ELEANOR M. KIRTLEY
KEYSER, W.Va. --Eleanor M. Kirtley, 68, of 325 'D' St., Keyser, died on Sunday, July 15, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 17, 1932, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Campbell) Kline. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Kirtley on Feb. 4, 1989.
Mrs. Kirtley was a graduate of Bruce High School of 1950. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Surviving are her daughter, Robyn K. Pochettino and husband Michael L. of Laurel; her sisters, Phyllis Kline of Conway, S.C. and Lois Ternent and husband James of Alexandria, Va.; her grandson, Owen M. Pochettino; her brother-in-law, Don Kirtley and wife Sandy of Roanoke; her sisters-in-laws, Elsie Mae Kirtley of Keyser and Nancye Potoski and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

WILMA L. MCDONALD
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Wilma L. "Sue" McDonald, 78, of 123 E. Piedmont St., Keyser, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born Nov. 8, 1922 at Martin, she was a daughter of the late James and Della (Rotruck) Billmyre. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Billmyre and Chester Billmyre.
Mrs. McDonald was retired from the DuPont Company in Glasgow, Del., with 18 years of service. She was a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, Keyser, a member and Past President of the Mineral County Senior Citizens and a former member of the Powder Puff Bowling League at Rainbow Lanes in Keyser.
She is survived by one son, Lowell T. McDonald and wife Jeanne, Keyser; three daughters, Brenda L. Miller and husband Richard, Westernport, Carol Sue Nesbit and husband Bill, Keyser, "Pat" Short and husband George, Hockessin, Del.; one sister, Lena J. Hawk, Scherr, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Herman Baliles officiating.
Interment will be in the Knobley Cemetery, Martin.

DONALD R. JENNINGS
WOODRIVER, Ill. -- Donald R. Jennings, 68, of Woodriver, formerly of Hyndman, Pa., died Friday, July 13, 2001 at John Cochran VA Medical Center.
He was born on July 24, 1933 in Missouri
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jennings, Woodriver; five children, William Jennings of Fayetteville, N.C., John Jennings of Seminole, Fla., Debra Erickson of Tucson, Ariz., Cathy Diehl of Hyndman, Pa, and Tammy Scaife of Hyndman Pa.; two step-children and 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
His body will be cremated.
Arrangements are being finalized.
