GERALDINE KING
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. -- Geraldine "Toddy" King, 75, of Fort Ashby, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on July 9, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clem and Annie (Bartik) Robinette. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom W. King on Dec. 11, 1987. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. King was a former employee of The Union Laundry, Cumberland, and G&G Manufacturing, Fairgo, Md. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Brown and husband Jim, Fort Ashby; two sisters-in-law, Judith Luckritz, Beltsville, Md., Lois Scurry, Fruitland Park, Fla.; two special friends, Elaine and Gene Combs, Fort Ashby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Lewis Twigg officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Paul Ackerman, Dan Middleton, Rick Wagoner, Don Powelson, Harold Nicholas and Charles Baker.
HARVEY D. ROCKWELL JR.
HOWARD COUNTY -- Harvey Denton "Rocky" Rockwell Jr., 35, of Howard County, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at the University of Maryland Hospital, Shock Trauma Unit, Baltimore.
Born on Feb. 11, 1966, in Cumberland, he was the son of Harvey Denton Rockwell Sr. of Cumberland, and Patricia Habersack Manis of Odenton. He was the husband of Shelley Fyock Rockwell of Howard County.
He had been a driver for Jack C. Fyock Jr., Septic. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are sons, Harvey D. "Rocky" III, and Kyle Coogan Rockwell, both of Howard County; sisters, Patricia Dean of Owings Mills, Rebecca Buhl of Westminster, and Brenda Liller of Pennsylvania; grandparents, Elmer J. and Susan McKenzie Habersack, Cresaptown, and Blanche Riggleman Rockwell, Cumberland, and the late Albert T. Rockwell; father-in-law, Jack C. Fyock Jr. of Glenelg; and mother-in-law, Gay Pickett of Finksburg.
A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday at the funeral home.
IRVIN S. MANGES
CUMBERLAND -- Irvin Seth Manges, 73, of 20 Homestead Ave., Cumberland, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Western Maryland Health System, Sacred Heart Campus.
Born on June 16, 1928, in Cumberland, he was the son of Irene Elsie (Athey) Manges, Cumberland, and the late Cobern Evans Manges. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Cobern E. Manges.
Mr. Manges was a retired school teacher from Allegany High School. He received his bachelor degree from Shepherd College and his masters degree from James Madison University. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Lee (Rider) Manges; two sons, Jeffrey A. Manges, Cumberland, and Mark I. Manges, Cresaptown; a granddaughter, Melissa A. Manges, Cresaptown; two brothers, James W. Manges and wife Margaret, LaVale, and William E. Manges, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark C. Dill officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
MYRTLE H. SWAUGER
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Myrtle H. Swauger, 76, of Mount Savage, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at her home.
Born on Jan. 4, 1925, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Walbott) Harbel. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Monk" Harbel and Walter Harbel; and one sister, Hilda Talley.
Myrtle was employed by Celanese Corporation. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, the Golden Guild, and several bowling leagues.
Surviving are her husband, David Swauger, a resident of St. Vincent dePaul Nursing Center; one son, Randy Swauger, at home; four daughters, Jerry Lancaster and husband Owen, Mount Savage, Doris Gertler and husband Alan, Anniston, Ala., Jo Bender and husband Rick, Mount Savage, Darlene Lynch and husband Dennis, Meyersdale, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Tracey Shipley and husband Mark, Michael Carrie Bender and friend Matt Trexler, Matthew and Rachael Lancaster, Charles, Max and Sam Lynch, Aaron Gertler, and Nathaniel and Elizabeth Swauger; one brother, William Harbel, Frostburg; one sister, Sally Amrine, Polson, Mont.; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Harbel, Baltimore.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William B. Shrout Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Western Maryland Home Hospice.
DENZIL HILE
OAKLAND -- Denzil HIle, 74, of E. Oak St., Oakland, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, after a lengthy illness with leukemia.
Born on Oct. 25, 1926, in Pierce, W.Va., he was the son of the late Russell C. and Beatrice G. (Evans) Hile.
He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mount Lake Park, a member of the Oakland Chapter 67 O.E.S., Oakland. He was also a member of the Oakland Lodge 192 A.F. and A.M., where he was a past Tyler, a member of the Cumberland Consistory Scottish Rite, and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 American Legion, Oakland. He served in the Navy during World War II, and retired from Allegany Power in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda J. (Arnold) Hile, Oakland; two sons, Steven C. Hile and wife Valinda, Greensburg, Pa., Jeffrey Hile and wife Linda, Frederick; one sister, Betty L. Burger, Weirton; two grandchildren, Corey G. Hile and Ethan M. Hile, both of Greensburg; and one step-grandson, Jeremy Helmick and wife Katie, Frederick.
At Mr. Hile's request his body will be cremated.
Friends will be received on Saturday at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 South Second St., Oakland from 1 to 4 p.m.
Order of the Eastern Star will hold a memorial service on Saturday at the funeral home at 2 p.m. and a Masonic memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mountain Lake Park, on Sunday, July 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.

WILLIAM D. VOLK
RIDGELEY, W.Va. -- William Daniel "Danny" Volk, 44, of Rual Route 2, Ridgeley, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1957, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Joan (Garcia) Volk Shaughnessy Sr., Mt. Laurel, N.J., and the late William H. Volk. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Yurek.
Mr. Volk had been a truck driver for Michael's Cartage.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Marie (Claypole) Wright; twin sons, Shawn and Joshua Volk, Ridgeley; step-children, Samantha and Bobby Wright, Ridgeley; his step-father, John W. Shaughnessy, Mt. Laurel; three sisters, Leslie Purwin, Mt. Laurel, Nancy Fusco, Hillsborough, and Debbie Watts, Stella, N.C.; two brothers, Kevin Volk, Phoenix, Ariz., and John Shaughnessy Jr., Carteret, N.J.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Gene Cecil officiating.
JARON M. FULMER
OAKLAND -- Jaron M. Fulmer, 5, of Truesdale Road, Oakland, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at the Tucker Community Care Facility, Parsons.
Born on May 29, 1996, in Oakland, he was the son of Michael A. and Kelli R. (Iden) Fulmer, Oakland.
He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Michael and Susan Fulmer, Oakland; his maternal grandparents, Gary and Sandra Iden, McHenry; one sister, Ayla R. Fulmer, at home; and one twin brother, Justyce L. Fulmer, at home.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at Pleasant View Baptist Church on Sunday, July 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wally Weeks officiating.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland.
