CLAUDE W. BEARINGER
FROSTBURG -- Claude W. "C.W." Bearinger 76, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Loring and Myrtle (Durbin) Bearinger. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn (Vanator) Bearinger, 1991; an infant son; three sisters, Katherine Sharon, Leoda Bearinger, Frances Kincaid; three brothers, Paul Bearinger, Ralph Bearinger, and Warren Bearinger.
Mr. Bearinger was retired from CSXT Corporation and had worked at the Western Maryland Railroad as a dispatcher. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corp. veteran of World War II. He attended the Christ United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Claudia J. Palumbo and husband Frank, Frostburg; two grandchildren, Gavin D. Palumbo, Tessa C. Palumbo; one brother-in-law, Paul Kincaid, Westernport; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John R. Herbst officiating.
Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Special Care Unit at Memorial Hospital.
DELORES A. DAYTON
MCCOOLE -- Delores A. Dayton, 60, formerly of Route 1 McCoole Road, McCoole, died on Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Myersdale Medical Center, Myersdale, Pa.
Born on March 25, 1941, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Arnold and Mary E. (Westfall) Dayton.
Delores was a former waitress. She was a 1960 graduate of Bruce High School and a member of the Liberty Christian Fellowship, Cresaptown.
Surviving is a brother, Robert L. Perry, Groton, Conn.
Graveside services and interment were conducted at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Aronhalt officiating.
Arrangements were handled by the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, W.Va.
THOMAS W. POOLE
HYNDMAN, Pa. -- Thomas W. "Tommy" Poole, 69, formerly of 201 Offutt St., Cumberland, died Saturday, July 7, 2001.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Cumberland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 800 Hill Top Drive, at 9:30 a.m.
HARRY F. DUNKIN
OAKLAND -- Harry Franklin Dunkin, 73, of Oakland, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 22, 1928, in Wheeling, W.Va., and was a son of the late Robert F. Dunkin and Martha (Siedel) Dunkin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjory (Schallus) Dunkin; two sons, Jeffrey P. Dunkin, Robert J. Dunkin; and one brother, Robert S. Dunkin.
He attended Washington and Jefferson College, was active in the boy scouts, he was a past member of the American Material Handling Society, and the association of Iron and Steel Engineers. After his retirement he was employed by the Deep Creek Lake Garrett County Promotion Council. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Bethel Lodge 761 A.F. and A.M., Garret County Historical Society, and was a hospice volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Butscher; one daughter, Gale Knox and her husband Jim, Richmond, Va.; one step-son, James Butscher, Odenton; one step-daughter, Lisa Friend, Terra Alta; three grandsons; one step-grandson; and one step-granddaughter.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Kerr and the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Sherwood officiating.
Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park.

GENEVA E. PHILLIPS
OLD LYME, Conn. -- Geneva Elsie Phillips, 92, formerly of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, New London.
Born April 7, 1909, in Bemis, she was the daughter of the late Seth T. and Mary D. (Hedrick) Adams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips had managed the commissary for the Western Maryland Railway. She was formerly active with the Ridgeley Senior Citizens and was instrumental in the expansion of Route 28 through Wiley Ford. Mrs. Phillips was a former member of Central Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Betty Fazenbaker and husband William Fazenbaker, Knobley Estates, and Mrs. Patricia A. Pastor and husband Frederick Pastor Jr., Old Lyme; three granddaughters, Sheryl Laco and husband Jefferey, Tammy Starr, and Leslie Pastor; one grandson, Brian E. Fazenbaker and wife Hope; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Laco, Steven Laco, and Mackenzie Fazenbaker.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at 12 noon with Pastor Mickey Stephens officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
THELMA V. WARNER
CUMBERLAND -- Thelma Virginia Warner, 87, of Cumberland, took the Lord by His hands to join Him in Heaven on Tuesday, July 10, 2001.
Born Dec. 11, 1913, in Culpepper, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nannie (Remmel) Hall.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks B. Warner in 1975; one son, Guy E. Wilkinson; two daughters, Janet Lee Robinson and Sandra Kay Wilkinson.
Mrs. Warner was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Lester Wilkinson, with whom she resided, and Brooks Warner Jr. and wife Arlene, Cumberland; two daughters, Sharon J. Solt and Buddy Vanhorne, Chesapeake, Va., and Sally Lynn Warner and Bob Wolfe, Cumberland; daughter-in-law, Carol Wilkinson, Cumberland; and a special great-granddaughter, Krystal Mallery, who was by her side during her time of need. She will be sadly missed by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Denny Michaels officiating.
Interment will be in the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, W.Va.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Thelma will be deeply missed, as she was a second Mom to many who knew her.
BETTY J. FAZENBAKER
BLOOMINGTON -- Betty Jane Fazenbaker, 77, of North Branch Avenue, Bloomington, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her residence.
Born in Bloomington on Dec. 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Munsey) Brandlen. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Fazenbaker; one brother, John Brandlen; and three sisters, Margaret Rodriguez, Mary Lou Moran and Virginia Brandlen.
Mrs. Fazenbaker was a full-time homemaker and loving mother. She was an avid member of the Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Daughters of America.
She is survived by one daughter, Lana Bower and husband Gary, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; two sons, Bernard Fazenbaker and wife Sue, Luke, Md., and Randy Fazenbaker and wife Brenda, Bloomington; two brothers, James Brandlen, Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, and Robert Brandlen and wife Mary, Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Jeff McCrobie and wife Elaine, Charleroi, Pa., Tristan McCrobie and wife Melissa, Bloomington, Battina McCrobie and friend Jeff, Fountain, W.Va., Jonathon Fazenbaker, Cary, N.C., Melisa Rodriguez and husband Al, Atlanta, Ga., Lisa Fazenbaker and Randy "Bud" Fazenbaker, both of Bloomington; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Mitchell, Michael and Hunter; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Brandlen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff McCrobie, Tristan McCrobie, Jonathon Fazenbaker, Bud Fazenbaker, Danny Beaver and Jeff Meyers.
Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.
