VIRGINIA E. HARE
CUMBERLAND -- Virginia Elizabeth Hare, 88, of 810 Memorial Ave., Cumberland, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
Born May 27, 1913 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late William Stewart and Mary (Light) Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Hare Sr., 1986.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, R. Ted Hare and wife Debbie, LaVale; a brother, Richard Stewart, Cumberland; three sisters, Mary Brinkman, Ruth Clark, and Delores Ballou, all of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Keith A. Graham, Hayley Howard, Zachary Hare, Brittany A. Bowen, Marisa L. Bowen and Breanne M. Bowen; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Howard and Tayden Fletcher; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
JOHN T. WINEBRENNER
MOUNT SAVAGE -- John Thomas Winebrenner, 68, of Dutch Hollow Road, Mount Savage, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1932, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Gussie and Dorothy -(Machin) Winebrenner, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Winebrenner was retired from Rish Equipment Company as an industrial mechanic. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Annie L. (Collier) Winebrenner; one daughter, Anita K. Bower and husband Mike, Frostburg; three sons, Jeffrey T. Winebrenner and wife Kathy, Frostburg, Bryan S. Winebrenner and wife Lisa, Mount Savage, and Michael P. Winebrenner and wife Becky, Mount Savage; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Shannon, Patrick, Eddie, Billy, Kirby, Orion, and Alex.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Ian C. Thomson officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W.
SANDRA K. COOK
CUMBERLAND -- Sandra K. "Sandy" Cook, 56, of Cumberland, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 9, 1945, in Cumberland, she was the daugher of the late Roland "Bud" Cook and Helen (Robinette) Cook Abell Robertson. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephen Iser and Skyelynn White.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker.
Surviving are three daughters, Tammy Stallings, Cumberland, Theresa Smyth and husband Tom, Colorado Springs, Colo., Brenda Cook, Oldtown, and fiance' Bryan Atkinson; one son, Dewey "Butch" Cook and fiancee Cheryl Lloyd, Cumberland; one sister, Joyce Markly, Cumberland; two brothers, Gary Cook, Rockford, Ill., Ward Abell and wife Venice, Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Charlie, Tracey, Derek, Shannon, Morgan, and Dalton, and a special friend, Clinton Banks, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m.
At Mrs. Cook's request, she will be cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Crematorium.
JUSTIN A. RIGGS
GOFFSTOWN, N.H. -- Justin A. Riggs, 85, of 24 Matthew Circle, Goffstown, and formerly of Grantsville, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Catholic Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 2, 1915, in Manheim, W.Va., he was the son of late Clarence and Myrtle (McGee) Riggs.
He was a teacher for 32 years in Kitzmiller and at Northern High School, Accident. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. Mr. Riggs was a member of the Hillside United Methodist Church, Goffstown. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan (Warnick) Riggs; one son, Justin A. Riggs, Litchfield, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Beatrice) Hall, Lakewood, N.J., and Janice Riggs, Chicago, Ill; two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Hillside United Methodist Church, Goffstown.

IRENE L. KIRBY
RUSKIN, Fla. -- Irene Largent Kirby, 63, of Ruskin, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Georgetown University Hospital.
Born Nov. 30, 1937, in Cumberland, she is the daughter of Evelyn (Durbin) Largent Buell and the late Jack Largent. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Largent, Billy Largent, and Kenneth Largent.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, James Kirby; four daughters, Diane Zega, Carol Hubbell, both of Ruskin, Irene Cone, N.J., and Joan Sumner, Ruskin; one sister, Bonnie Proud, Okla.; two brothers, Carl H. Buell Jr., and David Buell Sr., both of Largent, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
ETHEL J. SCOTT
FROSTBURG -- Ethel J. Scott, 85, of 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 10, 1915, in Omaha, Neb., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ruth Jones.
Mrs. Scott had been employed by Super Shoes and W.T. Grants. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Frostburg.
Surviving are one son, Robert Laird Jr. and wife Linda L. Mogadore, Ohio; one grandson, Robert W. Laird, LaVale; two sisters, Lillian Short and Irene Eich, both of Grand Junction, Colo.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ellis Kretschmer officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

SHARON R. WILSON
WESTERNPORT -- Sharon Rose Wilson, 55, of 26111 Rock St., Westernport, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at her residence.
Born in Lonaconing on May 14, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Ida Catherine (Buskirk) Coleman.
Mrs. Wilson was a full time homemaker and loving mother.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Lewis R. Wilson; two daughters, Tracy Paugh of Cumberland, and Kimberly Sites and husband Stephen of Petersburg, W.Va.; one son, Robert Connor and wife Rhonda of Cumberland; three sisters, Gloria Whitehead of Midlothian, Sandi Schriver and husband John of Lonaconing, and Brenda Poland of Keyser; two brothers, Thomas Coleman and wife Patricia of Westernport, and Dan Coleman and wife Jenny of Sidney, Australia; three grandchildren, Nicholas Paugh, Joshua and Jacob Connor, and several nieces and nephews, also she is survived by her mother-in-law, Elsie Wilson who took special care of her.
