FREDERICK A. SULLIVAN SR.
CUMBERLAND -- Frederick Alton Sullivan Sr., 78, of Cumberland, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Charles Clary Sullivan and Virginia Mae (Wright) Sullivan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Geraldine Sullivan; five brothers, Charles, Carroll, Joseph (killed in Iwo Jima during World War II), James, and John Sullivan; three sisters, Thelma Sullivan Ziegler, Nellie Sullivan Hutchison, and Mary Elizabeth Sullivan Stinebaugh, who died earlier this year.
Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a 55 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 307. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church and life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, where he served on the executive board and as recording secretary. Mr. Sullivan enjoyed bowling. He belonged to the Wednesday Night Men's League at The Bowler. He had also been on the IBEW team which won the championship in St. Louis. In addition, Mr. Sullivan was an avid fisherman. He loved fishing and had numerous Trophy Fish certificates from the state of West Virginia to prove it. You often would see Fred in his red and white pickup truck heading south for the Smoke Hole to snag a trout or two. The weather didn't matter, if they stocked, he was there. There'll be a lot of trout sleeping a little better tonight. Fred, the last of the fishin' Sullivans will now be fishing in heaven with his five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Rose (Yoder) Sullivan; two sons, Frederick A. Sullivan Jr. and wife Sue, Cumberland, and Craig Lee Sullivan and wife Patty, Hagerstown; a daughter, Debra Norris and husband Mike, Hagerstown; four step-sons, twins Jay M. Miller and wife Susan, Philadelphia, Pa., and Kay Conward Miller and wife Candy, Virginia Beach, Va., Steven A. Miller, Cumberland, and Fredric I. Miller and wife Carol, Marietta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews, including Beth and George Lanigan.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from Cresaptown United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Harold McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park, where military honors will be accorded by the local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers are Fred Sullivan III, Brian Sullivan, Nicholas Sullivan, Ed Harris, Matt Miller, Richard Poe, and Chris McDonald.

DONALD L. LOGESTON JR.
FLINTSTONE -- Donald Lee Logeston Jr., 39, of 23005 Gap Road, NE, Flintstone, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1962 in Cumberland, he is the son of Shirley (Thompson) Logeston and the late Donald Lee Logeston Sr. Besides his father, he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Michele Logeston.
He was employed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Eileen (Duszynski) Logeston; one son, Donald Lee Logeston III; and one daughter, Jamie Lynne Logeston, both at home; his mother, Shirley (Thompson) Logeston of Flintstone; one brother, Kirk A. Logeston of Flintstone. In addition are his maternal grandparents, Denver Thompson and wife Nina of Chaneysville, Pa., father-in-law, Charles Duszynski and wife Helen of Artemas, along with several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 10, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gerald Wagner will officiate. Eulogy will be given by William Hierstetter.
Interment will follow in the Logeston Family Cemetery, Flintstone.
THOMAS W. POOLE
HYNDMAN, Pa. -- Thomas W. "Tommy" Poole, 69, of 6th Avenue, Hyndman, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at WMHS Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Graham E. and Ruth E. (Card) Poole. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one sister, Esther Marie Cowdrick and husband James R., Smithsburg, numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Cliff P. and Donna (Bridges) Jenkins, Hyndman, with whom Mr. Poole had lived since 1997.
Mr. Poole was a retired Allegany County Schools custodian. He was a member of the Salvation Army, Cumberland, and he attended Glad Tidings Tabernacle, Hyndman.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Galen Winebrenner and Pastor Gregory Sinclair officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
JOHN T. WINEBRENNER
MOUNT SAVAGE -- John Thomas Winebrenner, 68, of Dutch Hollow Road, Mount Savage, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1932, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Gussie and Dorothy -(Machin) Winebrenner, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Winebrenner was retired from Rish Equipment Company as an industrial mechanic. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Dorothy E. (Collier) Winebrenner; one daughter, Anita K. Bower and husband Mike, Frostburg; three sons, Jeffrey T. Winebrenner and wife Kathy, Frostburg, Bryan S. Winebrenner and wife Lisa, Mount Savage, and Michael P. Winebrenner and wife Becky, Mount Savage; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Shannon, Eddie, Billy, Kirby, Orion, and Alex.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Ian C. Thomson officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W.
RAYMOND E. STEYER
OAKLAND -- Raymond E. Steyer, 83, of Steyer Mine Road, Oakland, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on July 7, 1917, in Ryan's Glade, he was the son of the late William H. and Odessa (Harvey) Steyer. He is also preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Steyer in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine R. (Harvey) Steyer, Oakland; one son, William S. Steyer, Oakland; one sister, Dorothy Frazee, Oakland; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Anderson officiating.
Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

DR. MARIAN L. WILLIS
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Dr. Marian Lee Willis, 28, of Mechanicsburg and Lansdowne, died, June 14, 2001, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 25, 1972, in Mechanicsburg, she was the daughter of Linda Scritchfield Willis, Mechanicsburg, and Harold Willis, Dillsburg. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harry Scritchfield.
She was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, Wilkes University and Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. She practiced podiatry in Lansdowne.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Cephas Willis and her maternal grandmother, Virginia Scritchfield, both of Mechanicsburg. The Scritchfields were former residents of Corriganville.
Funeral services and entombment were held in Pennsylvania.
Memorial donations were made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
JANE L. BRADY
CUMBERLAND -- Jane Lorraine Brady, 80, formerly of 407 Columbia St., Cumberland, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 28, 1920, in Pratt, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Ellsworth Collins and Ethel (Robison) Collins. Her father died when she was one month old, at the age of three, she was adopted by the late Sanford and Maryann (Meeks) Collins. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Valentine and her second husband, William "Bill" Brady, Nov. 13, 1999; a brother, Walter Collins, and a sister, Pearl Hooper.
Mrs. Brady was a graduate of Allegany High School Class of 1940. She was a former employee of Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, Sears and Roebuck and Company, and Friends Aware. Mrs. Brady was a member of McKinley Chapter 12 Order of Eastern Star and life member of Central United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a step-son, James Brady and wife Karen, Ridgeley, W.Va.; three step- grandchildren, Timothy M. Brady and wife Jennifer, Allepo, Pa., Sean C. Brady and wife Lori, Corriganville, Jaime M. Webb and husband Richard, Cumberland; six step-great-grandchildren, Patrick C. Brady, Taylor P. Brady, Zachary Butts, Bryce Butts, Mercedes E. Webb, and McKenzie E. Webb; and a brother, John Collins, Ashland, Ore.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Dickel officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
