CLAYTON E. SHILLING
LAVALE -- Clayton E. Shilling, 74, of Homewood Addition, LaVale, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1927, in Berlin, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles H. and Clara Shilling. He was also preceded in death by one son, Earl Shilling; four brothers; and two sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Shilling was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, Protestant by faith and a member of the Cumberland V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn P. Shilling; one daughter, Marilyn Gordon, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one son, Wayne L. Shilling and wife Mel, Short Gap; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Border and the Rev. Harold Border officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
BETTY G. LASHLEY
MOUNT SAVAGE -- Betty Gene Lashley, 77, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, formerly of New School Road, N.W., Mount Savage, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1923, in Mount Savage she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Baker) Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Ralph Lashley, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Lashley was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lashley is survived by two sons, James R. Lashley and wife Joyce, Mount Savage, and Dennis L. Lashley and wife Valerie, Mount Savage; four grandchildren, April Michelle Lashley, Mount Savage, Donetta Lynn Clay and husband Victor, Piedmont, W.Va., Dean Lee Lashley, Naples, Fla., and Angelique Denise Quehl and husband Captain Eric R. Quehl, U.S.M.C., Quantico, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Ty, Justise and Tremaine; a brother, James Snyder, Ohio; three sisters, Helen Joy, Tuscon, Ariz., Marlene Randozza, Levittown, Pa., and Katherine Stowell, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Savage Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be R.D. Lashley, David Felker, Ellwood Lashley Sr., Ellwood Lashley Jr., Floyd Friend and Charles Hutzel.
ALSTON M. TIMBROOK
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Alston M. Timbrook, 80, of Route 1, Box 161-F, Keyser departed this on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Sacred Heart Hospital. He went home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to be with his beloved wife, Loretta, whom he has so sorely missed since her death.
Born on March 7, 1921 at Keyser, he was a son of the late Arthur and Beulah (Payne) Timbrook. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loretta M. (Decker) Timbrook on Aug. 7, 1999.
Mr. Timbrook was retired as a heavy equipment operator with Local 37, Operating Engineers, Cumberland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre of Operations. Alston was very well known in the community as a top notch mechanic, always willing to help his friends and neighbors in keeping their cars on the road. He also attended the former Mead Chapel United Methodist Church on Knobley Road.
He is survived by two sons, Michael S. Timbrook and wife Linda, Short Gap, G. Scott Timbrook and wife Connie, Keyser; one daughter, Vicki R. Klavuhn and husband Gary, Short Gap; one brother, Jim Timbrook and wife Talitha, Burlington; three grandsons, B. Chris Klavuhn, Timothy S. Klavuhn, and Matthew S. Timbrook; two granddaughters, Molly A. Laraway and Susan E. Klavuhn; and one great-grandson, Austin E. Laraway.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Interment will be in the Biser Cemetery, Knobley Road, Keyser.
Dad and Granddaddy, you will be greatly missed, you meant so much, but we rejoice that you are with Jesus and with Mom and Grandma.
WAYNE H. TUCKER
MCCOOLE -- Wayne H. Tucker, 89, of 24811 White Crystal Drive, McCoole, died on Sunday, July 1, 2001, at the residence of his daughter, Betty Crossland.
Born on March 26, 1912, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Herbert and Laura (Bell) Tucker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Iacavone) Tucker on Jan. 18, 1981.
Mr. Tucker was retired from the Celanese Corporation and a former Bus Driver for the Head Start of Allegany County. He was a member of the Assumption Church, Keyser.
Surviving are his daughter, Betty Crossland, McCoole; his grandchildren, Shelly and David Crossland; one great-granddaughter, Brittany Crossland; one sister, Ivy Kennedy, Cleveland, Ohio; and a nephew, Barney Tucker and wife Wanda, Waterloo, S.C.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Assumption Church, Keyser, on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jerome Dunn, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
HELEN E. BECK
CUMBERLAND -- Helen Elizabeth Beck, of Cumberland, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at her residence.
Born in Rockwood, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Warren Frederick and G. Adele (Phillippi) Beck.
Miss Beck was retired from the Celanese Corporation, where she had been a secretary. She attended Holy Cross United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Miss Beck belonged to the Ridgeley Senior Citizens and the Celanese Retired Employees Association. She was a former member and past president of the Cumberland B.P.W.
Survivors include her aunt, Mrs. Charles Tissue, Confluence; several cousins; and two special friends, Loretta Schultz, Cumberland, and Raymond Swadley, Carpendale, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Harry L. Burchell Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Rockwood cemetery on Monday at 2 p.m.

L. ROSALIE BREITSCHWERDT
CAMBRIDGE -- Lillian Rosalie Breitschwerdt, 81, formerly of Ellicott City and Cambridge, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2001, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 19, 1920, in Baltimore, she was the only child of the late Roy E. Greer and Lilian R. (Kamm) Greer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd D. Breitschwerdt, in 1989.
Mrs. Breitschwerdt was retired from the Suburban Trust Bank, Baltimore.
She is survived by cousins, Glenda J. Clark and her husband Phillip E., Cumberland, William A. Bratt, Carpendale, W.Va., and Barbara Merritt, Cumberland. She was a loving Godmother to Phillip E. Clark Jr., and Cassandrea Lynn Clark, both of Cumberland. She is also survived by Jasmine G. Clark, Cumberland, whom she adored.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, PA., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Friends will also be received at the Loudon Park Cemetery/Chapel on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Loudon Park Cemetery/Chapel at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Gloria Attix officiating.
Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore.
