ALICE M. MAY
LAVALE -- Alice M. May, 94, of Maryland Street, LaVale, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 28, 1907 in Maysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Grant McDonald and Mae (Swisher) McDonald; her husband Harry May died on Aug. 14, 1993; she also was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. May was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by three sons, Robert E. May and wife LaVerne, LaVale, Lawrence A. May and wife Jacqueline, Hagerstown, Leonard B. May and special friend Debbie, Springfield, Va.; five grandchildren, Susan Ann May, LaVale, Lisa Cornwell and husband Kevin, Williamsport, Gretchen May, Hagerstown, Michael May and wife Michelle, Allison Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Ark., Ryan May, Rumford, R.I.; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Christopher Cornwell, Christopher Bosler, James and Joshua Weyant, Aleyah Prendable; a special niece, Naomi Poland, Cumberland; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor John R. Herbst officiating.
Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Poland, Kurt Poland, Alan McDonald, Kevin Cornwell, Brandon Cornwell, and Robert Cameron.

WILLIAM H. MATTHEWS
CRESAPTOWN -- William Henry Matthews, 92, of 14248 Cunningham Drive S.W., Cresaptown, died, Friday, June 15, 2001, at the Allegany County Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born on April 4, 1909 in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late William Henry and Sarah (Moses) Matthews. Mr. Matthews was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Matthews was a retired shift supervisor with the Celanese Amcelle Plant with 38 years of service. He was a member of the LaVale Lions Club and past president of the Warrior Run Lions Club. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cresaptown and Lodge 662 Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser. Mr. Matthews was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are one son, Robert William Matthews, Cresaptown; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
At. Mr. Matthews' request there will be or visitation of services.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
DAISY K. PRICE
LITTLE ORLEANS, Md -- Daisy K. "Kakie" Price, 77, of Boden Road, N.E., died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1924 in Little Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Divelbliss Sipes.
She was a homemaker and a member of Price Memorial WEsleyan Church in Little Orleans.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin W. Price of Little Orleans, who she married
Jan. 26, 1946 in Cumberland; two daughters, Nancy Winfield and husband Eddie of Hagerstown, Carol Smith and husband George of Artemas, Pa.; two grandchildren, Mike Corley and Stacey Smith; one great-grandchild, Austin Smith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Yonker and Hazel Swann; two brothers, Russell Sipes and Arthur Sipes; and one half sister, Ellie McBee.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. for the convience of family and friends the funeral home will open Friday from 2 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, the Rev. Darryl McClain will officiate.
Burial will be in the Price Memorial Wesleyan Cemetery, Price Road, Little Orleans.

JOHN F. WICKHAM JR.
CUMBERLAND -- John Francis Wickham Jr., 53, of 903 Bedford St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Western Maryland Health System, Memorial Campus.
Born on Aug. 23, 1947, in Baltimore, he was the son of John Francis Wickham Sr. and Ruth (Vollmer) Wickham, Baltimore.
Mr. Wickham Jr. was a retired employee of S. Schwab Clothing Factory. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Vietnam Veterans of America, Cumberland Chapter 172. Mr. Wickham's entire tour of duty in the U.S. Navy was in both diesel and nuclear submarines.
He is survived by a son, John F. "Jack" Wickham III, Cumberland; two daughters, Alyson Elizabeth Wickham and Megan Marie Wickham, both of Cumberland; two brothers, Donald J. Wickham, Austin, Texas, and Michael O. Wickham, Baltimore; five sisters, Patricia Warrington, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Nancy E. Kelbaugh, Baltimore, Elizabeth Jane Coakley, Baltimore, Dorothy A. Wickham, Baltimore, and Mary F. Dolbashian, Bethesda.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Friday at 10 a.m. with Father Milton Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors and pallbearers will be provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 172, honor guard.
EVELYN M. SPOTTS
KEYSER, W.Va. -- Evelyn M. Spotts, 93, a resident of Heartland of Keyser, formerly of 35 Sharpless St., died on Monday, June 18, 2001, at the nursing home.
Born on Dec. 28, 1907, in Elk Garden, she was the daughter of the late George and Bridget (Kilroy) Middleton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William K. Spotts on July 16, 1976; and a grandson, William "Willie" Spotts.
Mrs. Spotts was a homemaker and attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Bill "Sandy" Spotts Jr. of Carrollton, Texas; her grandchildren, Karen Day, Michael Spotts and Maria Burgess; and her two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Spotts was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at the Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alvin L. Guyon officiating.
MARY K. BRACKEN
CUMBERLAND -- Mary Kathryn Bracken, 86, of 229 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home.
Born on Nov. 21, 1914, in Cambria County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Johncour and Amanda (High) Johncour. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bracken in 1965.
Mrs. Bracken was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a member of St. Paul's Sewing Group and St. Paul's Hand Bell Choir. She worked as a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara H. Roser and husband Fred, LaVale; a sister, Betty Kennedy, Johnstown, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Neil Roser and wife Julie, LaVale, Leslie Roser, Crownsville, Sara Roser, San Francisco, Calif., and Paul Roser and wife Kathleen, Lusby; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Washington Street, Cumberland, on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating.
Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Pa.

GERALD D. SMITH
GRANTSVILLE -- Gerald Dewane Smith, 60, of 15429 National Pike, Grantsville, formerly of Loch Lynn Heights, Oakland, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at his residence.
Born on June 19, 1941, in Clairton, Pa., he was a son of the late Howard and Viola (Kibe) Smith. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Darrell Moore Jr.; and a stepson, Roger Wilhelm.
Mr. Smith was a former employee of the town of Oakland as a maintenance worker at Broadford Lake for 11 years and formerly a member of Southern and Northern Rescue Squads, until his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Bowman) Wilhelm Smith; one son, Duane Smith and wife Deborah, Oakland; three daughters, Patricia Hansmeier and husband Dave, Ridgeway, Mo., Loretta Rock and husband Shannon, Smithfield, Pa., and Lisa Baldwin and husband Ben, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.; stepson, Dwayne Wilhelm and wife Joan, Frostburg; and stepdaughter, Karen Smith and husband Scott, Grantsville; six brothers, Howard Smith and wife Ruth, Glassport, Pa., Kenneth Smith and wife Ruthann, Clairton, Pa., Gary Smith and wife Cathy, Westland, Mich., Dale Smith and wife Dolly, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Wayne Smith and wife Mary, Clairton; one sister, Roxann Smith, Clairton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 21 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Elsea Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
