DANIEL H. LAGRATTA
CUMBERLAND -- A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Daniel Herman LaGratta will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, Arch Street, Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Mark C. Dill officiating.
Friends will be received at the church from 1 to 3 p.m.
At Dan's request, there will be no viewing.
His body was cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Crematorium.
RUTH Y. CRABTREE
CUMBERLAND -- Ruth Y. Crabtree, 84, of Laurel Court, Cumberland, formerly of Oldtown, went to be with her lord, whom she loved and served for many years, on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 13, 1917, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Lona (Ketterman) Morral.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Estle Crabtree, July 13, 1988; two sisters, Marion Vance, 1977; Thelma Allee, 2001; four brothers, Wade Morral, 1993, Roy Morral, 1977, Marvin Morral Jr., 1998, and Wilbur Morral, 2001.
Mrs. Crabtree was a retired employee of Celanese Fibers, Coney Department.
She was a wonderful, caring mother, a great cook, gardener and homemaker. She loved her vegetable garden and her flowers.
She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Oldtown and a member of the Women's Ministries Group of Bethel Assembly of God and Sunday School Department.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Kay Crabtree, Cumberland; two sisters, Georgia Struckman, Frostburg, Helen Long and husband Paul, Cumberland; two brothers, Virgil Morrall and wife Dorothy, Cain Morral, all of Flintstone; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Morral, Cumberland, Marie Morral, Oldtown; two brothers-in-law, Gene Vance, Clearville, Pa., William "Bill" Allee, Cumberland and a number of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery, Uhl Highway, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Royce Crabtree, Bradley Atkinson, Craig Leasure, David Morral, Duane Morral, Wade Morral, Mark Morral, and Shawn Morral.
LEONA E. JEWELL
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. -- Leona E. Jewell, 95, of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 4, 1906, in Moorefield, she was the daughter of the late James and Maggie (Rodecap) Kessell.
Leona was also preceded in death by her husband, Carson L. Jewell, three brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Jewell was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Richard L. Jewell, Fort Ashby; three granddaughters; one grandson, and five great-grandchildren, all of the Baltimore area; two sisters, Esther Goodfellow, Springfield, and Ethel Michael, LaVale.
At her request, Mrs. Jewell will be cremated. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
The Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
ELEANOR L. BARNARD
CUMBERLAND -- Eleanor Louise "Barney" Barnard, 79, of 229 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 5, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Richard Marshall Barnard and Anna Mae (Taylor) Barnard.
Ms. Barnard was retired from the Payroll Department of Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Past Madam President of the Cumberland Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 245 Auxiliary, Woman of the Moose 914, and Knights of Columbus 586 Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister, Marcella (Jean) Rice, Cumberland; and her children, James Rice and wife Donna, Virginia Beach, Va., Clayton Rice and his wife Sherrin, Hardeeville, S.C., Dave Rice and his wife Randi, Cumberland and Eleanor Rice, N.J.; four brothers, Francis D. Miller, Texarkana, Ark., Roy Miller and Ray Miller, both of Cumberland; three sisters, Romaine Sherman, Cumberland, Kay Williamson, S.C., and Joyce Nixon, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Monsignor Thomas Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
HAMELINE M. HARDMAN
CUMBERLAND -- Hameline Marie Hardman, 73, of Cumberland, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Oct. 27, 1927, in Shallmar, W.Va., she was the daughter of Mildred (Wilkins) Carroll, Cumberland, and the late Frank Carroll. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Edward Hardman; and one brother, Leo Carroll.
Mrs. Hardman was a former employee of Memorial Hospital. She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are two sons, Marshall Steve Hardman and wife Gloria, Oldtown, and John Edward Hardman and wife Raney, Eagle River, Alaska; two sisters, Sylvia Jean Hedrick, Cumberland, and Janet Lou Hudson, Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one brother, Donald Carroll, Bowling Green, Cumberland; and two grandchildren, Jeremiah Hardman, Oldtown, and Mikayla Hardman, Alaska.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

HANNAH R. HOTT
CUMBERLAND -- Hannah Rose Hott, 4 months, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 3, 2001, in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of Jacob and Gayle (Baumgardner) Hott of Cumberland.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are one sister, Dezerai M. Hott; and one brother, Jais A. Hott, both at home; maternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Baumgardner, New Oxford, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Lloyd Hott and Maureen Hott and Sharon Hott, all of Cumberland; paternal great-grandmother, Eloise Hott, Cumberland; maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Lois Baumgardner and Jacquelyn Clouser, all of Hanover, Pa.; maternal great-great-grandfather, Franklin Ruby Sr., Hanover, Pa.; three uncles, Dane Baumgardner and wife Jamie Myer, Ewing, N.J., Lloyd Hott and Paul Hott, both of Cumberland; and one aunt, Melissa Hott, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dane Baumgardner, Lloyd Hott Jr., Paul Hott and John Dougherty.
