HARRY L. CANNON
KEYSER, W.Va. - Harry L. Cannon, 83, of 488 S. Main St., Keyser, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born July 9, 1916, in Antioch, he was the son of the late William Snowden and Sylvia Alice (Roberts) Cannon. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Opal C. (Halterman) Cannon on April 28, 1991; one son, Terry L. Cannon; one brother, Otto L. Cannon; and one sister, Bertie C. Staggs.

Mr. Cannon was the retired owner and operator of Cannon Electric which he and his brother, Otto, founded in 1958. He was a member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren and was a deacon in the church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Boyce-Houser Post #41, American Legion, Keyser, and Davis Lodge #51, A.F. & A.M., Keyser.

Surviving are one son, Norman L. Cannon and wife Vonna, New Creek; one daughter, Amy L. Smith and husband Bill, Keyser; one daughter-in-law, Janice Cannon, Keyser; two brothers, Oscar W. Cannon, Keyser, and Robert L. Cannon, Antioch; two sisters, Lelia Kesner, Antioch, and Audrey Rohrbaugh, Burlington; seven grandchildren, Wendy Owens and husband Doug, Chip Smith, Ivy Smith, Holly Cannon, Angel Cannon, Nikki Cannon, and Christian Cannon; and a close friend, Hazel Weese, Keyser.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold Statler officiating.

Interment will be in the Queen's Point Cemetery, Keyser. Graveside Masonic rites will be accorded by the Davis Lodge #51, A.F. & A.M.

CHRISTA COSNER
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. - Christa (Durer) Cosner, 52, of Vepco Lake, Mount Storm, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at her home.

Born Dec. 26, 1946, in Schweinfurt, West Germany, she was the daughter of Alma R. Hessler, Mount Storm.

She was a member of Mount Storm Presbyterian Church for 20 years. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Surviving in addition to her mother are one daughter, Patricia Smith and her boyfriend Jeffery Kitzmiller, Mount Storm; one son, Phillip L. Cosner, Mount Storm; one ex-husband, Eddie Cosner, Mount Storm; one sister, Annalisa Duetcher, Germany; four grandchildren; and many friends.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Mount Storm Presbyterian Church, Mount Storm, on July 19, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Watterworth and the Rev. William Anderson officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Storm Cemetery.

The family wishes that contributions take the form of donations to the family c/o Patricia Smith, P.O. Box 149, Mount Storm, WV 26739.

LAWRENCE E. "JAKE" COPELAND
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Lawrence E. "Jake" Copeland, age 93, of Elk Garden, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 13, 1905, in Elk Garden, he was a son of the late John W. and Anna (Hickey) Copeland.

Mr. Copeland was a retired coal miner and also retired from the West Virginia State Highway Commission. He was a member of the Elk Garden United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Maude (Green) Copeland; one son, Donald, and wife, Elizabeth, of Elk Garden; one daughter, Kathryn Evans, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Dennis Copeland, Elk Garden; three sisters, Bernice Evans, Chester, Va., Eula Francis, Warren, Ohio, and Anna Dawson, Willowick, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Copeland is at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Md., where friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Elk Garden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fran Williams officiating.

Interment is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Elk Garden United Methodist Church.

HELEN COMER
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Helen (Green) Comer, 64, of Ridgeley, died Monday, June 21, 1999, at her mother's residence. Born May 26, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Mae M. (Hymes) Green, Ridgeley, and the late Arthur L. Green. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Comer Sr.; one daughter, Doris Comer; and one sister, Dorothy Smith.
Mrs. Comer had worked at Ruhl Studio, and for the Schwab Co. She was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gold Star Post 6452 V.F.W.

In addition to her mother, survivors include two daughters, Jackie Rice and husband Gary, Ellabelle, Ga., and Dottie Bittinger and husband Michael, Ridgeley; four sons, A.J. Comer Jr. and wife Diane, Bowling Green, Arthur Comer and fiancee Diane, Ridgeley, Ronald Comer and wife Claudia, Potomac Park, and Alan Comer and fiancee Susan, Cumberland; and six grandchildren, Brittany, Kayla, Marissa, Tyler, Kylie and Garrett.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Trail officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Maryland Health Systems Hospice Program - Memorial Campus, 600 Memorial Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502.

BETTY J. BEACHY
LAVALE - Betty J. Beachy, 73, of LaVale, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 18, 1925, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Frances (Rankin) Weimer. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Hanna.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.

Mrs. Beachy was a former employee of Hughes & Heskett, Attorneys-at-Law, Cumberland, the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland, and Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, Cumberland.

Surviving are her husband, Edison; two sons, Mark and wife, Elisa, Gainesville, Fla., and Kevin, Cumberland; and one granddaughter, Jamie, Gainesville.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Christian Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

ELLEN G. CAGE
Sunrise: January 16, 1931
Sunset: February 14, 1999

BALTIMORE - Ellen Genevieve (McKnight) Cage, daughter of Robert W. Sr. and Idella (Festerman) McKnight, was born January 16, 1931, in Martinsferry, Ohio. She grew up in Midlothian, Md.

On October 9, 1953, Ellen was united in marriage with Jack Dale Cage Jr. at the Centre Street Methodist Church, Cumberland. To this union, two daughters and one son were born. The family resided in Cumberland until moving to Baltimore in 1968. Ellen was employed by the Cumberland Undergarment Co. and the Schwab Co.

She was an active member of the Evangel Cathedral Church of God, Rossville Boulevard.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 45 years, Jack Dale Cage Jr., daughter, Dawn Michele Cage, son, Don Michael Cage, and one granddaughter, Jessica Marie Cage, all of Baltimore; one brother, Robert W. McKnight Jr., Warren, Mich.; five sisters, Alberta Lingenfelter, Mahaffey, Pa., Eleanor Plummer, Rawlings, Md., Betty MacMillan, Avilton, Md., Florence Freel, Warren, Mich., and Edith Meyers, Hazel Park, Mich.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Jim Reneau, West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Rick Cage, Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and by her daughter, Donna Marie Cage. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Mary Margaret Grimes of Cumberland.

Services were held on February 18, 1999, at Evans Chapel of Memories.

Interment was in the Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore.

GEORGE W. CANNON
CUMBERLAND - George William Cannon, 51, of Cumberland, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at his residence.
Born Aug. 18, 1947, in Sewickley, Pa., he was the son of Byron and Louise Cannon, Meyersdale, Pa.

Mr. Cannon served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He had been an engineer for CSX.

Mr. Cannon attended Beth Shan Assembly of God Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Wilma Louise (Williams) Cannon; a stepson, John Poling and wife, Romaine, Fort Ashby, W.Va. a stepdaughter, Tammy Poling, at home; two sons, George W. Cannon Jr., North Carolina, and Christopher Cannon, Tokyo, Japan; three daughters, Stacey Blume, Cumberland, Julie Cannon and Melanie Cannon, both of Frostburg; maternal grandmother, Grace Shilo, Sewickley; two brothers, Bill Cannon and wife, Kathy, Berlin, Pa., and Dave Cannon and wife, Nancy, Erie, Pa.; two sisters, Judy Grace and husband, Bill, Somerset, Pa., and Debbie Millheiser and husband, Steve, Florida; two granddaughters; one grandson; and one special granddaughter, Kaylie Brooke Poling.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregory Georg officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by the Local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
