MARY M. COSGROVE
CUMBERLAND - Mary Marguerite Cosgrove, 79, of 345 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born May 14, 1920, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Abner R. Deitrich and the late Florence C. (Warnick) Deitrich.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation of America and Edith Carroll's Retirement Home. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Ann Martz, Cumberland; a stepson, Charles E. Cosgrove, Baltimore; a brother, James R. Deitrich, Cumberland; three grandchildren, William R. Martz, Cumberland, Gary A. Martz, Cumberland, and Nancy M. Cowgill, Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Timothy R. Martz, Cumberland, Justin L. Martz, Cumberland, Canand Blue Martz, ID, Heather Stott, Cumberland, Tiffany A. Martz, Cumberland, Ashley M. Morris, Cumberland, Amanda Merkel, Cumberland; and a special friend, Mary L. Martz, Cumberland.
Mrs. Cosgrove was cremated at the Cumberland Cematory, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland. No services are scheduled at this time.
Inurnment of the ashes will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, was in charge of arrangements.
PAUL "ELSIE' COLMER
BARTON - Paul Ellsworth "Elsie"Colmer Sr., 78, Pine Swamp Road, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 29, 1921, in Garrett County, he was the son of Stella (Warnick) Colmer, Barton, and the late Paul Colmer.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie; a son, Tom; and three brothers, Calvin, Olen and Harry.
Mr. Colmer served in the U.S. Army in World War II and later in the Army Reserves. He was a retired self-employed logger and an avid outdoorsman. He will always be remembered as a wise and compassionate person by everyone who met him.
Also surviving are his wife, Eleanor Jean; five sons and their spouses, Paul, Charlie and Cathy, Bob, Joe and Ann, and Sam and Judy; two daughters and their spouses, Irma and Terry, and Janet and Phil; two brothers, Wilmer and Jim; two sisters, Lillian and Lois; two stepsons and their spouses, Harry and Lonnie, and John and Debbie; 25 grandchildren, Felicia, Carrie, Courtney, Caressa, Crystal, Joe Jr., Brooke, Nathan, Stephanie, Aaron, Diana, Kristie, Megan, Michelle, Ben, Andy, Joey, Adam, Melissa, Jerry, Cindy, Ronnie, J.J., Sara and Laura; and a great-grandson, Ben Jr.
His body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board at his request.
A remembrance in celebration of his life will be held Monday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Casselman Valley Sportsman's Club, Grantsville.
Memorial donations will be set aside for a trust fund to be established for his granddaughter Felicia at his request.
LEROY J. ABE SR.
AQUILLA VILLAGE, Ohio - Leroy James Abe Sr., 79, of Aquilla Village, formerly of Patterson Creek, W.Va., died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township. He had come from West Virginia to Geauga County 42 years earlier.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1920, in Patterson Creek, the son of the late Henry N. and Bertha V. (Brelsford) Abe. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
On June 21, 1941, at Cumberland, Md., he married
the former Myrtle Mae Beaver, who survives.
He was a Packer/Shipper at Picker International, Highland Heights.
Mr. Abe served in World War II, Aleutian Islands, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the American Theater. He was a very active member of the Painesville Church of the Brethren, Painesville. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, anything dealing with the out of doors, yard work, and was an avid reader of the Bible. He like hard work, helping others, and he was always there when someone needed him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carol Jane Johnson, Hambden Township, Joyce Elaine (Tom) Ray, Aquilla Village; two sons, Leroy James Jr. (Marla) Abe, Akron, Jeffrey Lynn (Sheila) Abe, Aquilla Village; two sisters, Dorothy G. Abe, Painesville, Grace Moreland, Madison, Va.; one brother, Robert E. Abe, Ridgeley, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Old Furnace Church of the Brethren, Old Furnace Road, Ridgeley, on Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Abe Cemetery, Old Furnace Road, Ridgeley, on Thursday immediately following visitation.
Donations may be made to the Painesville Church of the Brethren, 10410 Buckeye Road, Painesville, OH 44077.

DESSIE I. CARR
RAWLINGS - Dessie I. Carr, 86, of 23650 McMullen Highway, S.W., Rawlings, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at her residence.
Born on June 12, 1912, at Maysville, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Noah W. and Katie Ann (Keplinger) Rohrbaugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Adam A. Carr Sr., on July 28, 1968; and by a son, Adam A. Carr Jr.
Surviving are two sons, David Carr, Atlantic Heights, N.J., Wilbur Carr, Cleveland, Ohio; seven daughters, Ruby Turek, Rawlings, Shirley Getz, Virginia Iser and Catherine Frost, all of Lancaster, Ohio, Genevieve Hawk, Scherr, W.Va., Betty Carr and Susan Carr, both of LaVale; one brother, Noah W. Rohrbaugh Jr., Maysville, W.Va.; two sisters, Edith Hawk, Elk Garden, W.Va., Wilda Carr, Baltimore;19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, W.Va., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Dean officiating.
Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, W.Va.
AGNES ANNA BARBE
CUMBERLAND - Agnes Anna Barbe, 84, of 148 N. Mechanic St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at home, where she lived with her sister-in-law, Georgia Martin.
Born Jan. 21, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Dominic Ambrose Martin and the late Emma Matilda (Helmstetter) Martin. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Aloysius "Owl"Martin and Joseph Martin; and three sisters, Rosie Madden, Helene McGann and Ursela Riley.
Mrs. Barbe worked at the Celanese Fibers Corporation for 15 years. She was a 1933 graduate of the Ursuline Academy. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Sodality.
Surviving are three sons, Delton John Barbe and wife, Gladys, Cumberland, Bernard James Barbe and companion, Dorothy Y. Twigg, Cumberland, and Philip S. Barbe and wife, Hazel, South Hampton, N.J; a brother, Sylvester Martin and wife, Bonnie, Ridgeley, W.Va.; a sister, Clara Elizabeth "Marty"Moore and husband, Tom, LaVale; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Wilt, Robert Aldridge, Joseph McGann, Raymond Gephart, Samuel Martin, Robert Madden, Philip S. Barbe Jr., and Danny Moore.
A Wake Service will be held on Friday at 8 p.m. with Deacon Frank Werner.
LILLIAN S. AUMAN
FROSTBURG - Lillian S. Auman, age 84, of 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Apt. 222, Frostburg, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Georgetown University Medical Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1914, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Winfield Scott Layman and Ora E. (Garlitz) Layman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Loy E. Auman; and three brothers.
Mrs. Auman formerly was employed at the Celanese Fibers Corporation, and she was part owner of Mack's Service Station, Long Stretch.
She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Frostburg, where she belonged to the Methodist Women. She also attended St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Bowling Green, and belonged to the Ladies Guild of St. Matthew's. She was a member of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Lashbaugh and husband, Wesley, Frostburg; two grandchildren, David Lashbaugh and wife, Diane, Mount Savage, and Tina McKenzie and husband, Anthony, Frostburg; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Lashbaugh and Terra McKenzie; a brother, Ralph Layman and wife, Mary, Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Lightner and the Rev. Welch of St. Matthew's officiating.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be George Mehaney and Richard Wilson.
